Thanks! My own style of playing is pretty simple. Pretty much no drop thumb or anything fancy. Its about time I put up some new banjo vids on here, I've gotten quite a bit better I think.
You mean my rendition of "cluck old hen?" Aw, shucks. I just came up with that by myself. I don't even like this recording I made of it anymore, I can do it better now. Thanks a lot, though. I think playing clawhammer banjo is the only thing that's easier than it looks.
sounds good.i was always a big heavy metal fan but lately all i want to hear is good ole bluegrass.i gave up drums and am thinkin of getting a banjo too.i was checking out you tube videos and found about a guy named raymond fairchild, dang that ole boy can play.
I just looked him up and watched him play "Whoa Mule." His fancy tricks combined with the deadpan expression cracked me up. That was some awesome playing, though. I started off playing 3 finger style bluegrass, but then I got into playing this kind of old-time clawhammer music. I'd recommend a Deering Goodtime as a starter banjo. You can get cheaper ones, but you'll outgrow them fast. Its cheaper to get a decent one to start with, I learned that the hard way.
Thanks. The banjo's nothing special, just a Deering Goodtime, but ironically my cheap microphone gives it that nice old-time sound, like the old recordings.
