Kudos... Wonderfully done. For a teenage group "Amerique" is a very difficult piece to perform. There were a lot of mistakes in the middle and especially in the end but for a bunch teenagers to play one of contemporary music's most difficult pieces is just brilliant.
Who cares if the composer was influenced or not by America? Here we have a great performance by a Russian pianist with a collection of British kids who sound fantastic. So just enjoy it.
To be diplomatic: I think Rach's 4th concerto does indeed reflect some musical influences that he must have acquired in the US...new harmonics, jazzy off-beats...they're all present here, we do not know if Rachmaninoff meant it as a statement of appreciation or rather as an ironic display of his musical environment (he liked Jazz though)...but i agree that the commentator afterwards is wrong in saying he loved America.woe and longing are prevalent in his later works, longing for his home, Russia
I lived Berezovsky's performance, I hated man's comments and voice after performance. He talks idiocracy. I wish man's voice can be deleted. Pu! disgusting!
What a nonsense to say that in this concerto Rachmaninoff loves America. Only somebody insane can say that. CONTRARY!!!! Music is so Russian!!!! It only shows Nostalgia for the home and Russia.
Man you talk nonsense, and how can any musician like america after immigration?
@liana563 Of course Rachmaninov was Russian to the core, but I think you are going a bit far in your anti American rant. There are and were in the past, in the U.S.A., many great musicians and musical patrons who have given that country a rich legacy hence some of the world's greatest orchestras.
*&# Bless our Youth! These are our future. These are our hopes and our dreams. These young adults are who will lead us lovers of great music on and on. Good luck to all of you and thank you for posting this. I have seen this performance before and still am amazed by the professionalism, artistry, and love of the music that is shown here. Simply amazing. Brings tears to my eyes seeing young people do such beautiful things in this world.

I love those sirens. So, fitting for the country with the largest number of prisoners in the world.
