I got into doing VJ computer graphics shows alongside several bands at a nightclub in Portland OR. One of the bands is called "Hot Property". This is EXACTLY the effect I have been wanting to implement. I have a high end NVIDIA card (580) in my VJ system, and already purchased a Kinect. I would LOVE to be able to do this effect in 1 of my upcoming shows. Are you interested in doing some sort of collaborative work? I havent started charging for my shows (yet) but I hope to in the near future.
@DesignerVIsuals I have the Same Question to the creator of this effect. I need this mod/extension/hack for a customer. Maybe kotsoft can write to us to cooperate?? Thanks!
Awesome- would love to know if you built this in quartz composer, processing, or something like openframeworks... also, you should check out matthias oostrik on vimeo... he's doing great work with optical flow, but right now it only works with a graphics card that runs opencl. great job!
@gabemott i made this in xna and used the official kinect sdk though i've also been working on doing some stuff in openframeworks. i did a water simulator with openframeworks and kinect interaction but that's not accelerated by the gpu. my optical flow shader doesn't require a gpu that supports opencl so i guess it should run on more cards but it does require a fast gpu and usually those have opencl anyway.

Awesome job!!!
Hello, my name is Pablo.
Im interested in to develop a customized version app based on the fluid simulation you are doing with Kinect.
Is anyway possible to get a demo version of your Kinect fire and Kinect + Fluid so we can evalute it?
also, how much can cost to get a customized version of this apps?
thanks and regards

How did you get the optical flow to tell which direction to force the simulation? Is it provided in the SDK?
jojodi 7 months ago
@jojodi i implemented an optical flow shader on my own for that.
