  • Há um toque de bossa nova.

  • Sublime!Divino!

  • This is pure spirit, pure love.

  • beautiful, perfection X

  • AHHHhhhhhhhhhhhh...the timeless quality of our Ms. Streisand..er...Mrs. James Brolin respectfully!..LOL..CHEERS all!!

  • Souless.

  • This is nice, someday you sing for me.

  • a true gift from God above for all to enjoy a class of here own ?God bless her

  • barbra streisand uhhhh uhhhhhh uhhhhhh

  • she is in a league of her own, she is a classical musical trailblazer... i love her music and i love her voice!!!! I love barbara streisand!!!

  • I like that she sings the opening verse, including the trick of carrying over "you" which may have been anticipated by the composers. Overall, I'll take Ella to hear Jerome Kern, but Streisand does a good job delivering Oscar Hammerstein II.

  • She is uniquely beautiful.

  • @jckfmsincty Dear God, she's has looks that will bring a man down at 100 yards.

  • Her voice just floats like air over and through this melody. Her interpretation of the lyric is so beautiful. Thank you, Ms. Stresiand. Thanks for this post.

  • @necktieguy1 so true

  • Babs is Hello Georgeous on this song..

  • any singer can compare with her

  • Barbra is from another Planet!!!

  • good version... 2nd to only ella's.... babs has a very high voice, seemed like they jazzed it up a bit but it still works

  • It is incredible to believe that someone could compare her with "la chanteuse de rap." Je ne le peux pas comprendre ca.

  • 何か好き。休めそう。

  • Barbara streistand vous ressemblez à la chanteuse de rap, Diam's

    O_O !

  • @asleep1day imbécile

  • Love is the source of life. Bless you beautiful friend.

  • magnifique!

  • My parents got a call from Enrico Banducci who ran the Hungry I in San Francisco.

"You gotta hear this nineteen year old girl" He Introduced her with "Ladies and Gentlemen enjoy this young lady 'cus she'll never play this crummy club again."

  • @MellowMrMike My parents saw her at the Hungry I in SF. Maybe it was that night, how knows? I remember them telling me about it whenever she appeared on the Ed Sullivan show.

  • Thanks for this upload. It reminds me my 3-years of a secret unforgettable love affair with a St. Paul Univeresity nun here in Tug.. I was broken hurter after she turns unfaithful and become a butterfly lover to another lover priest who works with her in the church choir and later they were caught in the act in bed in the priest rectory.

  • @the047777

In the words of Alfred Lord Tennyson..." 'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." So count your blessings for the love you had.

  • this is MUSIC, not Gaga and not Bieber....!

  • @angel9611 you just said what i have been thinking the last 4 years!!! Bless you!

  • Let me compliment you for your restraint in presenting this marvelous music without creating some crazy overly-animated video. There are some Barbra videos which seem like someone just learned how to create dissolves, spin-outs, cut-aways and so forth. Too much visual distraction, when what we really want is to LISTEN to the music. So, again, thanks for being so respectful of Barbra's exceptional talent.

  • she is coming near n nearer. is this song is in bossa nova ?

  • all with no formal training.....amazing

  • God was really good in giving her such an amazing voice. there will nobody who will be able to copy Barbra's voice. It is unique. :)

  • I love her voice!

  • Simply Streisand, came out the very same day her first christmas album was released,Columbia pushed the christmas album, and didnt seem to do anything for Simply Streisand, the public went wild over the christams album and forgot all about this one,Then came "What About Today"and the 60's were over,Her albums were always great but the 60's were music history for Barbra

  • @Northshoreman1 Some of her best singing!

  • @Northshoreman1 You are so well informed. Thanks for this history. The album is truly a gem (always felt this way about it) and it is a shame that Columbia Records did not the sense to promote it properly.

  • Ahhhh Barbrahhhhhhh. Such a great tune and such a lovely rendition. So pretty.

  • The best song ever written; not sure about the bossa nova arrangement, but at least she sings the verse and chorus, which kind of makes sense of the song.

  • 'nobody does it better' - not even carly simon ;)

  • A deliciously complex song performed with deft skill and ease that makes her impossible to ignore and admire.

  • simply sublime - it just doesn't get any better

  • wonder why we always gotta go race? vocals are vocals great as they both are and cocmaire said it musician actor. interpretations different voices exquisite. styling different but great. one mankind HUMAN!! please get over it.

  • Lindo demais, também...

  • "Simply Streisand "was the last of 60's great albums. It was so under rated at the time, but still remains a Streisand classic album

    Love ya Babs

  • @Northshoreman1 Yeah, I'm not sure why it didn't (and still doesn't seem to) get much hoopla. I am going chronologically through her discography, and I currently have found myself playing this one over and over again. Her voice is so buttery and rich in this period :)

  • one of my favorites...

  • To my Anngail. DM

  • My favorite version of this song. Beautifully sung and a great arrangement.

  • Barbra is great, a very talented singer with a beautiful voice, but I agree with madgeic that Ella's version is better. Just an opinion, not to take away from the wonderful music of Barbra Streisand.

  • I love Barbara's music so much and this song is so beautiful, but the saddest part is that my Father loved her too and I lost him a little over a year ago, so I can either sit here and bawl my eyes out or just go ahead and listen to the most gorgeous voice, ever. I guess I'll do both.

  • @lindalovesmusic1 - aw! *hugs*

  • what i find really nice is listening to the Serge Gainbourg trio version then follow it with Birds version. over and over.

  • this version is overworked...i'm talking about the sound management and maybe the arrangements....in other words...i consider it too artificial. and this comes from a person that favours barbra streisand.

  • Ella was great & I think d reason why some like her version better is that she sung it simply, w/ not much vocal flourish heard on Barbra's. Ella's is really pleasing. Still, u really can hear Barbra's IMMENSE talent; her slides thru varied notes is 2 behold!

But in another song both sung, Cry Me A River, Barbra seemed to be more "upfront" in the singing than Ella (who's known for scat)-- & surprisingly since she's not black, Barbra's version is MORE bluesy and emotional & thus more powerful!

  • @madgeic "since she's not black"?!?! Get out of here with that! Granted, there are different cultural norms pertaining to exposure of emotions, but Ella and Barbara are individual personalities in the public eye. They can't simply be categorized as a black woman and a white woman who would likely act according to stereotypes. They're both artists. Barbara is an actress first, and Ella is/was a musician first. That's why Barbara's performances seem more emotional... she's acting.

  • Yep, I love her, and I agree she is one of the very best interpreters of song.

Her first album knocked the socks off people when it came out in the 60s.

  • @pianomags ...Every single note that Barbra sings knocks my socks off! :-)

  • Wow.

  • The best artist that will ever live?!? What...

    C'mon, now.

  • I love this song! Thanks for this upload.

  • Best version vocally yet!

  • Awesome

  • That's just beautiful. Now, if se would just shut up about politics she would be perfect.

  • Barbra sing great song with meaning and grace.

  • and she is beauuuuutiful

  • Everything Barbra sings is just great!

  • The best artist that will ever live. Forever Barbra.

  • good interpretation btornabene

  • @aminfidel

Thanks! Love great singers-can't stop listening!

    Btornabene

  • Barbra is the last of the great romantics:) Her voice takes you to another world.

  • Brava Barbra ! you ... singer actress, entertainer First Class ! YOU ARE

  • This is a beautiful interpretation of a classy song. Her voice just floats over it. Thanks for the post.

  • Can't we all just get along... and appreciate some of the greatest gifts to song? Dame Shirley Bassey is in there too!

  • I think all the versions of this song are beautiful. It's just sweet. I wish love songs today were like this.

And besides, isn't the point of music to enjoy and appreciate the talent and emotion and expression of the artist? Why should it matter who was "better"? Different interpretations will speak to different people, That's not racism. That's individuality.

  • Lady Ella isnt comparable... Sorry but the only one who "amost" reached her was Sarah Vaughan. Try another singer to compare Barbra with. Still a Great version of "all the things you are". We need more talented people in this business like Barbra.

  • @hipnosees who said you were the authority? not me get over yourself

  • I am wondering why there is controversy here about Striesand and Fitzgerald...a great song and two great interpretations...the rest of the stuff about racism if you perfer one version over the other is just plain stupid.

  • Thanks Babs. I wouldn't dare compare you to Ella, or vice-versa. Apples to oranges. Two distinctly different

approaches. I love this song, and you do it justice.

  • A lovely song and a great singer equals spellbinding magic. Many thanks forever

  • I love Ella, but Barbra is much more interesting and unique.

  • LOL...a racist because I find Barbra Streisand more interesting? I love Ella. There's just something exotic about Barbra. Geez, relax! In 1987 I marched with 20,000 people in Forsyth County, Georgia to protest the KKK. I love everyone with a good heart regardless of religion, color, gender, sexual orientation, etc....people are people.

  • Honestly I LOVE Streisand, but even when they asked Sinatra who does he think the best singer is, the answer was simple - ELLA.

Well.. I find them both AMAZING and trying to learn as much as I can from them.

    Thanks for the video

  • @Michaelalujevic

Ella is better at interpretation and rhythmic awareness and originality, (within the constrictions of her day in the Swing era). Barbra is/was a showtunes singer from a different era-not specifically a Jazz singer. It's a different mind-set, and thus, a different approach. I totally agree, there's much to be learned from both!

  • Much as I love Ella, this version is the one that truly knocks my socks off. Barbra's talent is so extraordinary...and this photograph is the one that for me most clearly demonstrates all her exotic beauty.

  • ;rachelle ann go, a filipina singer has a great rendition of this song in her album entitled "Falling in Love."So please grap a copy.Every cent you spend on it won't give you any feeling of regret.

  • she is AMAZING!!!

  • This is magical moment of great music !! what talent !!!!!

  • She is ad always will be the best and most beautiful female and singer!

I love you and mom does too. You make my mom very happy!

  • exquisite

    shes the best there is

  • THE best land most meaningful love song ever..the words any girl wound want to hear from her man.

  • Time and again I've longed for adventure,

Something to make my heart beat the faster.

What did I long for? I never really knew. Finding your love I've found my adventure, Touching your hand, my heart beats the faster,

All that I want in all of this world is you...

    For Jim X

  • She is sooooo fucking wow!!!!!!!! And always will be...

  • :o))))))))))))))

  • Loved it ... Babs X

  • Let's give some credit to the great Jerome Kern. There are few composers in contemporary popular music who approach his talent. His The Way You Look Tonight is another standard.

  • Beautiful! Your are the best, Barbra!

  • Eres magica Barbra!!! nadie como tu para cantar e interpretar, eres mi idolo!! y que cancion wooow!!!

  • the best female singer ive ever heard

  • GORGEOUS.....Thanks for posting this beautiful video which is really appreciated.

  • This is so wonderfully 1967! The beat, the background vocals- so 1967! Takes you right back.....

  • she would.

  • Thank you, AsylumDeneye, for all your Streisand postings. Your effort is much appreciated! It's funny, I had forgotten about this particular song. It's great to hear it again. There's not a singer in today's crop that can even carry her songbook. Streisand: the BEST EVER!!!
