I personally think that Dawkin's commandments are the best list around but they have the weakness of forcing people to think about them. His 4th has 21 words. You can't do that to people who are used to watching reality TV.
Yours have the advantage of being short, to the point and simple.
There's no commandment that says "thou shall not lie". Instead it deals with bearing false witness. When it was written a "trial" was when someone came to the town centre and accused a person for doing so and so. Then the angry mob would stone the guy to death. So bearing false witness was a pretty evil thing to do.
And about your ten. What's wrong with adultery? Surely it depends on what kind of relationship you have? Do not betray the trust of your loved ones would be a better commandment.
I would add "don't be ignorant of your government's actions and policies" and "do not rape" is unnecessary since it's part of "no adultery" - unless you're talking about spousal rape... Also, scapegoating is bearing false witness, so let's replace that with "Thou shalt exercise caution with others' safety"
You could could wipe most of your list and gods list with a single phrase. I believe it's from the Hippocratic oath: "Do No Harm". This is I believe taken from one of many religions. I think the Druidic version was 'Harm None' and the Pagan version is from the Rule Of Three. The version I learned was "Ever mind the Rule Of Three, Three times what thou giveth comes back to thee, this lesson well thou must learn, you only get what thou dost earn". Basically the golden rule trumps all others.
@skywize I would consider "Do no harm" to be too vague personally, plus I wouldn't be able to get drunk and harm my liver which is a total buzzkill, I wouldn't be able to have extremely kinky and violent sex with a sadist either. Not that I would fancy that... What?
@ContentByMe Harm None works for most cases, it refers to living beings rather than objects such as a liver, and should be vague. When it is too specific people feel as though anything not on the list is off for a reason. As for whips and chains... It's only harmful if you ignore the safe word. My safeword has always been 'more!!'
@ThePsychoticScyth396 I think "nondiscrimination" applies to women and minorities alike- and if you follow the other commandments, it wouldn't be necessary. I like "don't destroy property" though.
I like your 10 commandments as far as keeping people from hurting other people goes. But, the 10 are not about following rules to make God happy. People at that time were worshiping about anything that was alive or in the sky which included orgies & human sacrifice. The law is likened to a schoolmaster in the bible, a yoke for the Jews to bear. Jesus was to deliver them from it but they rejected Him so He never revolked it but opened up salvation to the Gentiles per Paul by faith not law.
not bad but.... you should have specified whether these are commandments for a secular society, or if you feel that these would have been better God given commandments, because if the case is that of the latter, then you should include commandments for maintaining a relationship with and/or respect of the deity if any is desired, not just commandments that concern interaction with other human beings/themselves/world etc..in which case, the first three of the original ten may very well be valid
I think you can actually condense a few of the commandments into one. "You shall not impede on one's corporal sovereignty without consent" (murder, rape, and slavery are addressed by that I think). This would allow you to add "You shall not discriminate on the basis of immutable characteristics" which would cover discrimination on the basis of things like "race," physical attributes (skin color, height, eye color, nose shape, etc), sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.
That is not to say we "believers" are to live anyway we want without restraint. Read the scriptures written by Paul to the Gentiles for a better understanding.
the 10c's were written to the Jews. Period. They could not keep them. Prior to that sin existed but was not imparted but the law was given to expose sin as sin. Romans 7 says the 10c's made sin exceedingly sinful. The Gentile nations didn't receive the law but still were sinfull. When Christ died for sin and rose from the grave he laid the law to rest as far as men having to keep it. However it will be used for judgement. Rom. 2:12
thou shall not make commandments for others to follow, cuz theyre probably very faulty, and ppl are too stupid to apply them wisely. even if ur on utube
@Faergen Naah, as Jesus is the One who wrote the 10c's, I am sure Jesus was aware of what was in the law.!!!! Dude, Jesus was the word made flesh. On this side of the cross He will use the 10c's only to judge those under the law. If you believe on him he is your righteousness and you are under his grace and don't fall under the law of sin and death judgement. Otherwise you will be judged by the law Rom 2:12
@2tires Aw come on, you be trollin' now! Jesus didn't write anything, other people wrote what he said. If he wrote the 10 commandments, why are they in the old testes? Yes, yes, god wrote the ten commandments and god was jesus, but jesus was also just man. He even asks god (himself) for advise. So, I don't think that part of god wrote it... And I care not whether I be judged by the law of the bible, because it is an absurd, obscene and immoral law.
@Faergen Prior to receiving the 10c'c the angel of Lord appeared to Moses in a burning bush. The angel is also the One who redeems from evil in Gen. 48:16. There are many appearances of the angel of the LORD in the OT but the foremost in my mind to the one in Gen. 32 toward the end of the chapter Jacob realized he had wrestled which God.Since no man has seen the Father it had to have been Jesus. Sorry the Son He hadn't been named Jesus yet.
@2tires That's an assumption. Why is it not just an angel (as it says)? Besides, if Jesus appeared there, why did he have to be born later? You think there are no angels then? Because the bible is riddled with stories of angels. I don't get why you absolutely want to have Jesus appear before NT... And by doing so, you are left with even more to explain and justify. Come on... and why are the ten so importent? I mean, they are mentioned twice but in context of 614 other rules (just as importent)!
@Faergen I said Jesus because He is the Son, as in Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He was not known as Jesus then but He spoke of being the I am at the burning bush because God was not known as Jehovah at that time either. It was the angel of the LORD that spoke out of the midst of the burning bush and is call God. He told the Jews in the NT, before Abraham I AM they took it as blasphemy.
@Faergen In Gen 22 the story parallels the story Jesus being sacrificed. It is the angel of the LORD that orchastrated the sacrifice and made a substitution of a lamb instead of a human. The lamb gets stuck in the head with thorns as Jesus got stuck in the head with thorns from the mock crown he was forced to wear. Paul says in Gal. 3 that it was the scripture (word of God which is Christ) that preached the story of Christ to Abraham.
@Faergen Why are the 10 so important? Go back and read my prior comments to you.
The 10c's where given to make sin exceeding sinful so that man would know that he could not live up to the rules and to simply believe like Abraham who believed and because he did it was counted to him as righteousness. So simple. Read Gal. 3 and 1 Cor. 15:1-4
@Faergen I'll give you something to think about. Christ said as Moses lifted up the brass serpent in the wilderness so must He be lifted up. In the wilderness the serpents were sent as a curse to kill. So why is a brass serpent used?
@Faergen Why did Jesus have to be born if he showed up in the OT? Because angels sinned in heaven. They had no choice in their being there or their job. Love intails choice, since the scripture says God is love there must be choice. In comes creation and Adam. Rom. 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. So choose.
@2tires What? That's Not an explanation? 'Angel of lord' in the bible means Angel! If you start saying it can mean Jesus too, then you can just redefine everything. Then Job was christ, getting a warm up on suffering, before he had to go through the 'real deal'. It's not a choice. I cannot believe something I don't believe. It's like saying 'you can choose to believe in fairies!' No. You can show me one, and then we can talk about it.
@Faergen an angel is a messanger. God walked and talked in the garden with Adam. The triune God is invisable but the Son comes out and does the communicating. He shows himself visably in the OT as an angel or a man. Angel, messanger of the LORD, Jesus is the Word of God. The word is how God gets his message across.
@2tires No... the angel comes out and does the communicating. Angel ≠ Man angel ≠ god, angel ≠ godman, which mean angel ≠ Jesus. Another word for angel is Benei elohim which means 'The holy Ones' with an s, which means, there where more than one of them. Are you saying there were more than one Jesus? Are you saying that Jesus was angel and not man? If Jesus was the word of god, he came out of the mouth of the angels. Bit by bit.
@Faergen Maybe you need to redefine how you read the bible. Most people read without understanding because there are things hidden it's wording. If you understand it it is awesome.
Anybody who is married knows believing is a choice. You believe your spouse loves you and is true. You can choose your attitude. Suspicion or trust. I've been there done that so has my wife
@2tires No, you need to read it, as it was written. You can't run away from the fact, that you try to justify stuff, that is in NO WAY justifiable, unless you redefine Everything in the bible. But that, you could do with anything, and choose to say, well Jesus didn't make water to wine, because wine really means liquid nitrogen. No, I believe my girlfriend loves me, because I have defined what actions she would perform, if she loved me, and she does perform them. So no, it's not a choice.
Please, enlighten me...what is hidden in...Numbers 31:17, Duet. 2:34, Kings 8:12, Isaiah 13:16-18, Judges 11:29-40, Joshua 7:15, 1 Kings 13:1-2, Judges 21:10-24, Numbers 31:7-18, Deuteronomy 20:10-14, and this...If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
@HellhathnoFury711 You need to read the bible with understanding rather than going to an atheist websites and copying criticism. The Jewish girls were betrothed at a young age. Now the bible in Deut 22 says that the rapist is to die not the girl. You pervert the meaning. Just like in Judges 11 you atheists make it out like the daughter gets killed by her dad. Wrong. He simple follows the "or" part of the agreement and will not give her hand to a man in marriage.
@2tires I understand enough. I was a christian for a long time, and I used the same excuses. Please do not accuse me of copying atheist websites. The reason I stopped being a christian was to think for myself, so why the hell would I just start copying someone else's thoughts? Makes no sense. You have no understanding of the bible, if you can't admit all the contradictions. Have a good day.
There are many more commands in scripture than just the 10 in the Moses account. And the purpose for the 10 are not only for what you said they were (social order). The first 4 are a basis for following the others. The sabbath being debatable because of what Christ said about it in the N.T.
I hate religion I hate Aliens I hate santi clause all these things are a commercial vendetta against us all... I say burn the bible forget the aliens forget santa clause and all the other commercial mumbo jumbo that we have to endure on this planet ..
We would be far better without these things they pay for a crap society they just pay the fat cats more money and i'm sick of pushers of this trash !!
No actually most atheists agree that you shouldn't cheat on your wife. But they disagree with giving people the DEATH PENALTY for it like the bible says you should .

You need to read more about atheism and adultery. You obviously don't understand the morality of atheist on this issue. In fact, some even argue that cheating on your wife is good for your marriage.
In fact, some even argue that cheating on your wife is good for your marriage.
Yeah, who are they? Why do you think atheists have a united idea of morality in a marriage since all they share in common is the rejection of ideas of god?
The foundation for "Thou shalt not murder" is grounded in the nature of God.
Since you are made in God's image, a Christian should not murder.
I agree that the 10 commandments were given in accordance to the nature of God to a context in time. The context has changed so God acting in accordance with his nature has changed the prescriptions due to a change in context.
I.E. The O.T. did not contain the work of the Spirit working through the church and the NT does
The foundation for "Thou shalt not murder" is grounded in the nature of God.
The people of Samaria are guilty as charged because they rebelled against their God. They will be killed in war, their children will be smashed to death, and their pregnant women will be ripped open. Hosea 13:16
There doesn't appear to be anything in "the nature of god" that would prohibit murder.
The nature of God is still love. The fact that someone else rejected the love of God means that they will experience a reality without love. Hosea 13:16 is an excellent example of this. If you reject love, then your chosen reality is a life or existence without love.

The 'irreligious' have killed 60 million babies through abortion in the US.
Since God knows the future, he knew even the babies future. Once you reject God, you have rejected love because God is love. Without the love of God, you cannot be a part of the life of God.
It really is that simple. Your rejection of the love of God will result in a loveless experience for eternity by your own choice.
I wish more people could see this; however, man is very selfish so it is hard to love.
So why do you admit that you support killing babies yourself as long as the babies "reject gods love" ? Why don't you acknowledge the bible fully supports GENOCIDE and so do you as long as it's in the bible? Don't change the fucking subject and just own up to the vile, shit that you believe in!

God both gives the gift of life and has the power to take it. In fact, you are going to die. The reason that people die is because of the curse of sin. Man has rejected God and needs to be saved.
If someone was to kill your wife, I suspect you would defend her. God didn't support Genocide; rather, he was protecting His chosen people in the Old Testament.
That is the purpose of war. A country will go to war to protect its own people. This is not genocide; rather, it is self-defense
"If man would have not rebelled against the Creator, none of these babies would be "crushed" to use your word."
also, another favor, read your bible please?
--"This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard." Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones
You think its only the irreligious that are having abortions (that's what I'm assuming you're referring to when you say killing babies) but I suggest you do a quick Google search.
You'll find that religious people account for over 75% of the abortions taking place in the United States.
You'll also find that only about 50 million abortions have taken place. I must ask you where you get your statistics.
Solomon, you can enter the love of God for eternity by accepting His Son. When you participate in the love of God, you become a part of the life of God for eternity.

In addition, I think you are missing the bigger point. God knew the future decisions of all those who died would reject His love. As a result, it doesn't matter when the curse of sin ended their life.
If you reject the love of God, you cannot be apart of the eternal life of God because God is love.
As the Bible says, "God desires that all men be saved."
No not genocide, the Bible advocates love and righteousness. A God who loves us knows that He is best for us, and if He let us adore anything less than Himself, He is not loving us. Therefore it is righteous, first, for God to demand our praise, and second, because God loves us and knows that He is the best, He shows His love by rebuking us when we are not wanting what is best for ourselves, because God wants the best for us.
I have a feeling too many christians are shaky in faith. That is why they watch these videos to begin with. You are a straight up liar if you can read the bible, and say there is NO genocide. God broke his own commands EVERY time he sent his men in to ravage women, steal land and possessions, and so forth. If his commands are so freakin' univerally moral why did he break them himself? Rebuke is dashing innocent infants against stones? Is it making women marry rapists? Is it human sacrifice?
@HellhathnoFury711 Sorry to hear you think the bible is full of contridictions. The way most churches/preachers teach is that the gospel of Jesus is the gospel. Thing is that what Jesus taught was to the Jews who were under the law & that they were to keep all of the law. Then they take that and apply it to us today. Yea, there are contridictions if you mix Jesus's gospel with the gospel that Jesus gave Paul to preach to the nations.
Got scripture for your accusations of rape & thevery?
I don't think the bible is full of contradictions, I know it is. You can remove the entire new testament if you wish. The old testament has plenty. Down to god commanding animal sacrifice, and then asking them who commanded it, and saying he never did. But anyone who refuses to see what is in front of their face doesn't surprise me. You are going on blind faith, where I use the reasoning skills your god supposedly gave me. Why give it to me, if I am not allowed to use it? You should try it.
@HellhathnoFury711 You wrote--. Down to god commanding animal sacrifice, and then asking them who commanded it, and saying he never did. What do you mean and where are the verses you are using to arrive at what ever it is that you are trying to say?
Regarding Isa. 13:16 as bad as it sounds, and is, this is like the saying, an eye for and eye, a tooth for a tooth. What was done by that nation will be done to them.
Later versions added word just, but it has been proven the Hebrew manuscripts do NOT support the addition. Jer. 7:22 for starters. Remove the word just if its there. God says he never commanded their fathers in the day he brought them out of egypt concerning burnt sacrifices. There are other verses, too. I have to get my list, and I will get back to you on them. That is off the top of my head. I am saying either god did or he didn't command animal sacrifices, and the bible can't make up its mind
@HellhathnoFury711 That fact that God was making a point regarding obediance being better than sacrifice in Jer. 7:22 probably will not change your mind regarding contridictions but there it is. The people were caught up in stealing, murdering etc. ON THE DAY thy came out of Egypt. ON THE DAY, it is not that He never spoke of sacrifice just not ON THE DAY they came out of Egypt. You are too trusting of the sceptics. If there are so many contridictions why bring up Jer. 7:22 which in not?
God was NOT making a point. God clearly stated in Jer. 7:22 and other places, such as Hosea 6:4-7, Heb 10:4-6, Isaiah 66:3-4, Isaiah 1:11-20, Psalm 40:6, Psalm 50:13-15. Scripture argues with itself, period. You can say I am taking a skeptics word for it, but I have done the research MYSELF. You think I am just going to follow what some person says is so? If that were the case I would still be a christian. In the kingdom of god divided amongst myself by 34,000. With nowhere to stand.
@HellhathnoFury711 What I find interesting is that fact that nothing is white washed in the bible. God gave Israel the commandments for one purpose which was to make sin more sinful. Yes the bible says that. Also it will be used to judge the non believer. Like l said l am not under the law. It is not that l can live immorally. Paul teaches morals to live by. Now to the Jew the law was to make them realize how immoral that they'd been as attested by Jer. chp 7. God wanted obediance not sacrifice.
Jeremiah 7:22 IS a contradiction. A blatant one! The word 'just' was added to later version, but the Hebrew manuscripts do NOT support the addition. What if it is you who is too trusting? Do you think for yourself, or just believe what the apologists say? Do you celebrate xmas? Do you go to church on Sun? Because if so you are breaking four commandments right there. You worship in vain, for you follow the traditions and commandments of MEN.
@HellhathnoFury711 What are you talking about, the word "just" in Jer. 7:22? I see no such word there. Anyways you just don't get it. You probably went to a church were they mixed the messages of Jesus and the messages of Paul. I am not breaking 4 commandments. I would have to be subject to the 10 to break any of them. Jesus's message to the Jews was keep the commandments. Paul taught freedom from the law. I'm under Paul's gospel in 1 Cor. 15:1-4 concerning Christs death, burial, resurrecting .
@2tires There are no contradictions at all in scripture, Paul committed his life to trying to live as much like Christ as possible, read 1st Corinthians. I assume you mean contradictions about who the "elect" are, but that does not mean that there are contradictions in the Bible, it means that people interpret things differently.
@ItsSolaFide If you try to say that Jesus and Paul preached the same things then you look at what they in fact preached they do not match up. But they are not supposed to. Jesus was keeping Paul's gospel a secret,. Matt13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
No, the gospel didnt even exsist until Jesus died! There was no good news yet, so what was Jesus suppost to say. "When I die on a cross everyone will have a chance to be saved"? The Pharasees would have killed him before He was done with His ministry! Thats why he spoke in parables.
@ItsSolaFide yes and no. He resurrected from the grave and walked the earth for 40 days. Read what His gospel is in Acts 1 He taught them of the Kingdom of God nothing about the Church, the temple being the people who beleive on Him or freedom from the law. You can also look at what the 12 taught to see what Jesus taught them. It is not the same as what Paul was taught by Christ to teach the nations. This is a set up for the future of Israel. Israel. A good reason to believe the bible.
If I was shaky in my faith I would do everything but watch these videos. I KNOW that you watch these videos for support because you have zero evidence to support your claim that God is imaginary. I watch these videos to talk to people like you. Show me where God broke HIs commandments, use a verse, you cant win an argument by yelling, show your evidence. Show where He sent men to rape wemon, steal land and possessions.
God, in a large number of places in the O T, either kills or orders the killing of many and in the cases of children and babies, these can arguably be called murder. If you are christian read your bible. It's a good place to start. Isaiah 13:16 woman ravished. Zechariah 14:2 woman raped. Original language is shakab, translated to rape in the English. Look it up. There is MORE evidence for science than god. All you have is apologetics, & arguments circular in reasoning.
@HHNF The law was to drive their need for relief from the law by means of a Savior. He was the true sacrifice, not animals, they were only teach a lesson & for them to demenstrate their faith. That is why you are sadly mistaken about the bible. If you separate the Jewish stuff from the Gentile stuff you find more interwining of information that substaniate one passage w/ other passages it is mind boggling. Much more so than your few verses that you claim are contridictions.
We will never see eye to eye. I have been where you are, and I am not going back. Jew or gentile don't matter when you consider traditions you celebrate in his name created by man, or the church you visit on Sun., when the true sabbath is Sat., if there is one. There are contradictions down to whether or not jesus told them to take swords or not to. The parts that are the same or consistant aren't a surprise, considering new authors could have copied or gotten their information from old authors.
@HellhathnoFury711 Gal 1:11-12 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Rom
16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to MY GOSPEL, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the MYSTERY, which was kept SECRET since the world began.
You bring up Mat. 5:18 but leave out the last part, which is typical. UNTIL ALL IS FULFILLED.
@HellhathnoFury711 Paul who killed followers of Jesus. One would think God would have killed Paul but no. Instead God used Paul to preach grace (the very thing he received from God). So right now we are under grace not law according to Paul. Schoolmaster = law as in Gal 3:24-25, Rom. 6:14 The law was for God's dealing with Jews. Now we are in the time He is dealing w/ Gentiles. I hope that enlightens you regarding the seeming contridiction between Jesus and Paul.
@2tires You can not enlighten me. I have already been enlightened to the fact that Paul contradicts not only Jesus, but himself. He also contradicts James. Either it is faith in grace alone, or it is faith with works. Which is it... are we justified by obeying the works of the Law or not? Romans 2:13 says, YES. Romans 3:20 says, NO. James says yes. The list goes on and on and on. I'm sure you'll have an apology though.
@HellhathnoFury711 Rom 2:13 is speaking of your conscience, a law written on your heart. Rom. 3:20 speaking of the Mosiac law which brings knowledge of the law. It acually was to "rub the wickedness of the Jews in their faces" to get them to make changes for the betterment of the Nation, just for one. Again that is no contridition. You start out with one objection & claim that it is only the first of many but you start with a bogus claim. So much for this conversation I guess. Best wishes.
They are contradicting, period. Either you are justified by works or the blood of Jesus, which is it? Faith alone or faith plus law keeping? You are apparently rewarded in heaven according to your works, right? It all makes far too many contradictions. Christians always apologize for a god who can't be that great. I mean if he was would you have to apologize for him so much? From the start of time sin has been around. Isn't what Adam did? There was NO Mosaic law then. Best wishes to you.
One last thing, this whole under the law, not under the law makes NO sense. So you say the jews have to follow the commandments, but you don't? Hogwash. Jesus said NOT ONE jot OR tittle would pass from the law. Right there you have Paul and Jesus contradicting one another. The 'kingdom of god' is divided amongst itself by 34,000 denominations, and Jesus said a kingdom divided against itself will NOT stand. How to you suppose to rectify that? Let me guess, your division is the right one?
@HellhathnoFury711 Paul and Jesus contradicting each other? No Jesus was sent only to Israel to confirm promises made to the fathers-Rom.15:8 There are prophecies galore that Jesus fulfilled in His mission. What is interesting is how He kept things from the Jews. SECRETS- Matt 13:34.....35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
@HellhathnoFury711 Until is a time word. Until is what clues me in on when the jots & titles pass away. The law was a tool [Gal. 3:24-25] that God used (& will again in the future) to get the Jews on the right track but they wouldn't go there. They were to be the instruments to bring Gentiles to Christ but kept on rejecting & rejecting. So God brings on the secret. The Gentiles have Paul instead w/ the gospel of grace. Ironically he is a Jew & the eppitemy of grace.
@2tires Do you even read what you write? How the hell does that make any sense? So the jews are saved by the law, and gentiles are saved by grace? And when someone gets confused, because the damn contradiction is so blatant they get thrown in hell, right? So as a christian under grace you can do whatever you want, because god's love is unconditional, and you still get eternal bliss. Yet, a non-believer can live a good life, not commit any abomination, and get thrown in hell? Just? I think not!
@HellhathnoFury711 No the Jews are forced to be under Paul's gospel for salvation because they can not follow the law with no temple in Jerusalam. Jesus never revolked the law because it will be reinstated. Acts 15:16 & Matt. 24:13-20 It will be reinstated after the church is taken out of the world.
Can l live immorally? No l have the law written in my heart.
Can you live immorally? Sure you could. People that believe do it all the time. Priests molest children, have affairs, become gay. That is all immoral. People who believe kill in the name of God, and that is immoral, right? What the hells the difference between someone's law holding heart, and and atheist without it? I know some atheists that are far more moral than some christians. So the entire Mosaic law, which I still believe God didn't command most of it, is being reinstated? WTH?
I only dissagree with two: Do not abuse alcohal or other substances(because I WANT MY WHISKEY) and, abandon, abuse, or neglect thy child(should be: if you can't raise the fucker, give 'em up to adoption)
oh I dunno, I kinda like George Carlin's pared down version : Be honest and faithful to the person that provides your nookie, don't kill and keep your religion to yourself :)
i disagree with your tenth "You shall honour they environment" im entirely sure what you mean by this i assume its in reference to this so called man made global warming issue, and though i acknowledge man has caused great damage, i belive this earth is for us to do as we choose with, i also disagree with your third "you shall not abuse alchahol or other substances" firstly what exactly do you define as absuing them? and secondly, i think thats one persons choice to make,
He never said honor thy environment was linked to global warming. Are you saying that disagreeing to honoring the environment would cause a negative effect on people? Would you agree bringing smog back into los angeles? why would you disagree on that? for your second argument I would say that human society in general would benefit from being non abusive of substances. Even though personally I would not observe that one. He is merely asking would society benefit more from it than the regular ten.
im gonna challenge ur disagreement. first of...so did the person on the road choose to die from the person who chose to abuse these substances to not abuse those substances makes sense..less drunk drivers killing ppl...less dying teens from intoxication less so on and so forth. why not honor the enviroment? i mean places that are eff'd up enviormentally should be cleaned up. shall we die in our own selfish filth? ehh i think his point is too see if their better than th old ones. xD lol
Good video, but I disagree with your 2nd commandment. The concept of Adultery is sexist. Any non sexist person will instead say that in Marrage, it's the man's job not to have sex with other women, and it's the women's job to not have sex with other men. The concept of adultery cuts down half of this logic and produces unstable marrage by concentrating responsibility on the man, when both partners should work together always.
As a Christian, I believe the ten commandments were written for a nation that needed some guidelines for that time period but even these could not save them nor could they be kept. These ten were just a summary of the the law that was handed down to the Isrealites through Moses.
When Jesus came he put more demands on us in regards to these commands. Just read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. It's all about love and sin is a transgression of love toward God and neighbor. - Luana
....Things like your parents who run a local grocery shop getting shot in a hold up or your brother getting burned alive when the house catches fire are acceptable when your society doesn't raise your hopes up.
I don't know how I'll handle it. But I hope that it'll turn out okay after it happens. They say that optimists cope better with trauma because they expect the best. =]
I mean, I kind of believe that everything turns out okay in the end. And I know it sounds naive but I also know that suffering is part of the human experience. And the lows are just as important as the highs.
Yes. My boyfriend, who I planned on marrying, died in a car fire. Medics concluded he was alive after the initial impact, but due to the nature of the crash couldn't get out before the car's fuel was ignited. Death isn't fair or avoidable, that's what it means to be alive on earth. I just think life would be alot better if we didn't wast time trying to make a perfect little world for ourselves.
God... I'm really sorry. Like, all discussion of morality aside. I'm really sorry that you had to endure that. =\ That's horrible.
I think people just try to make life as good as it can be. What you describe sounds more like basic instinct survival. I think if we didn't hope for good things and try to make good things happen, we would just wait around to die. I don't know how we could find the will to live if all we had to look forward to was struggle.
....When I live in a nice house with a car and a computer and a TV and all this shit that I don't need while others in the world starve to death I don't do it to be evil, I do for the same reason I'm nice to people. It benefits me. I should have elaborated on the pathetic reasons. I think it's pathetic to be nice just because you think you should, which plenty of people do. Now I don't think that alone constitutes calling someone pathetic, but those actions are pathetic.
...Friends are a mixture of both, I want them to be happy and I don't want them to leave me. And of course some people I'm not nice to at all. All of these reasons are selfish, though. At the core of it all these behaviors are no different than when someone is mean or cruel. They either do it for personal gain or for pleasure. Same motives for kindness.
What does it matter if the motives are the same? The actions are completely different. Cruel acts don't really benefit anyone in the end but kindness makes things better, even if it's in a very small way.
And I notice you didn't list any pathetic reasons. Which prompts me to ask... if someone is kind to you for a reason you think is pathetic, is that person themselves then labeld pathetic in your mind?
Motives don't matter? You're the one that said intention is all that matters to you.
That aside. Cruel actions benefit people all the time. When a CEO lays off 6,000 people to make the most profit, he doesn't do it to chuckle about how evil he is, he does it because it benefits him....
Okay, but if someone intends to build someone else up because it makes them feel good or because they think it's the right thing to do, I'm all for it. But if someone intends to hurt someone because it feels good or because they think they're doing right by someone else, then I oppose their actions. That's what I meant by intention. I care about the action, not really the motivation.
So if the action indirectly or accidentally hurts someone, like stopping someone in the street to give them the wallet they dropped which accidentally causes them to be hit by a car, that is evil or bad?
What I mean to say is that you can be kind with the intention of betterment or you can be kind with the intention of destruction. Even if you're being kind to someone because it makes you feel good to make them feel good... everyone still feels good. If you're being nice to someone to gain their trust and fuck them over in the end, it's different. Both motives are selfish but the intentions are different.
Yeah, kinda.... What you do matters but what you're trying to do matters more. At least, that's what matters to ME. It's not like my rules are suddenly the rules of society or God. And if they were I'm sure there would be a lot of crazy shit going down. But they're not, and this mentality works pretty well for me and my life.
And no, I don't think the wallet senario you gave as an example is evil or bad. It was just an accident. Do you?
I don't believe in evil. I've got a few questions. Why does intention matter so much to you, why do you care about what happens to other people? Do you think you are better than someone who does bad things like murder out of pleasure/creed/profit/what have you? Also, slightly off topic question, but what would your utopia look like?
Wellll, intention matters to me... I don't really know why. Just because I know shit can happen and fuck up your plans but what you wanted to happen is where your heart is? If that makes sense? Your inentions and, in turn, your actions kind of show what kind of person you really are. Even if what actually plays out doesn't go according to plan.
I don't really think I'm better than people who just do bad things. Because I'm pretty sure I'm capable of doing any amount of evil if I were in the right situation. And I try hard not to judge because I have no idea how I would react if I were in the place of say, a war profiteer or a murderer. It's like, how do I know that I wouldn't have done the same thing if I had lived their life and were in their "shoes", so to speak.
Umm... I do good things [keep in mind that I don't ALWAYS do good things, obviously] because... I think it's the best way to do them. I don't know. It's hard to explain. I just think that things will work out better for me and for everyone else if I do good rather than if I do bad. *shrug* It's just what my life experience has taught me.

2. Thou shalt question every authority or idea that cometh thy way.
3. Thou shalt not discriminate on any basis but the merit required for the situation.

I personally think that Dawkin's commandments are the best list around but they have the weakness of forcing people to think about them. His 4th has 21 words. You can't do that to people who are used to watching reality TV.
Yours have the advantage of being short, to the point and simple.

Check out Richard Dawkins ten commandments! I find them absolutely true!!
phildawe1 4 months ago

@skywize Sorry, I fudged that.... It's "returns to thee" not 'comes back to thee".... Whatever, lol

@skywize I would consider "Do no harm" to be too vague personally, plus I wouldn't be able to get drunk and harm my liver which is a total buzzkill, I wouldn't be able to have extremely kinky and violent sex with a sadist either. Not that I would fancy that... What?
ContentByMe 4 months ago
@ContentByMe Harm None works for most cases, it refers to living beings rather than objects such as a liver, and should be vague. When it is too specific people feel as though anything not on the list is off for a reason. As for whips and chains... It's only harmful if you ignore the safe word. My safeword has always been 'more!!'

This would allow you to add "You shall not discriminate on the basis of immutable characteristics" which would cover discrimination on the basis of things like "race," physical attributes (skin color, height, eye color, nose shape, etc), sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc.

the 10c's were written to the Jews. Rom. 2:12

2tires 1 year ago
@2tires Aw come on, you be trollin' now! Jesus didn't write anything, other people wrote what he said. If he wrote the 10 commandments, why are they in the old testes? Yes, yes, god wrote the ten commandments and god was jesus, but jesus was also just man. He even asks god (himself) for advise. So, I don't think that part of god wrote it... And I care not whether I be judged by the law of the bible, because it is an absurd, obscene and immoral law.
Faergen 1 year ago
@Faergen One of the absurdities is Jesus made appearances prior to the NT. Best wishes at the judgement.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires What? Serious, who has been pulling your leg? What do you base that assumption on?
Faergen 1 year ago
@Faergen Prior to receiving the 10c'c the angel of Lord appeared to Moses in a burning bush. The angel is also the One who redeems from evil in Gen. 48:16. There are many appearances of the angel of the LORD in the OT but the foremost in my mind to the one in Gen. 32 toward the end of the chapter Jacob realized he had wrestled which God.Since no man has seen the Father it had to have been Jesus. Sorry the Son He hadn't been named Jesus yet.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires That's an assumption. Why is it not just an angel (as it says)? Besides, if Jesus appeared there, why did he have to be born later? You think there are no angels then? Because the bible is riddled with stories of angels. I don't get why you absolutely want to have Jesus appear before NT... And by doing so, you are left with even more to explain and justify. Come on... and why are the ten so importent? I mean, they are mentioned twice but in context of 614 other rules (just as importent)!
Faergen 1 year ago
@Faergen I said Jesus because He is the Son, as in Father, Son and Holy Spirit. He was not known as Jesus then but He spoke of being the I am at the burning bush because God was not known as Jehovah at that time either. It was the angel of the LORD that spoke out of the midst of the burning bush and is call God. He told the Jews in the NT, before Abraham I AM they took it as blasphemy.
2tires 1 year ago
@Faergen In Gen 22 the story parallels the story Jesus being sacrificed. It is the angel of the LORD that orchastrated the sacrifice and made a substitution of a lamb instead of a human. The lamb gets stuck in the head with thorns as Jesus got stuck in the head with thorns from the mock crown he was forced to wear. Paul says in Gal. 3 that it was the scripture (word of God which is Christ) that preached the story of Christ to Abraham.
2tires 1 year ago
@Faergen Why are the 10 so important? Go back and read my prior comments to you.
The 10c's where given to make sin exceeding sinful so that man would know that he could not live up to the rules and to simply believe like Abraham who believed and because he did it was counted to him as righteousness. So simple. Read Gal. 3 and 1 Cor. 15:1-4
2tires 1 year ago
@Faergen I'll give you something to think about. Christ said as Moses lifted up the brass serpent in the wilderness so must He be lifted up. In the wilderness the serpents were sent as a curse to kill. So why is a brass serpent used?
2tires 1 year ago
@Faergen Why did Jesus have to be born if he showed up in the OT? Because angels sinned in heaven. They had no choice in their being there or their job. Love intails choice, since the scripture says God is love there must be choice. In comes creation and Adam. Rom. 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. So choose.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires What? That's Not an explanation? 'Angel of lord' in the bible means Angel! If you start saying it can mean Jesus too, then you can just redefine everything. Then Job was christ, getting a warm up on suffering, before he had to go through the 'real deal'. It's not a choice. I cannot believe something I don't believe. It's like saying 'you can choose to believe in fairies!' No. You can show me one, and then we can talk about it.
Faergen 1 year ago
@Faergen an angel is a messanger. God walked and talked in the garden with Adam. The triune God is invisable but the Son comes out and does the communicating. He shows himself visably in the OT as an angel or a man. Angel, messanger of the LORD, Jesus is the Word of God. The word is how God gets his message across.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires No... the angel comes out and does the communicating. Angel ≠ Man angel ≠ god, angel ≠ godman, which mean angel ≠ Jesus. Another word for angel is Benei elohim which means 'The holy Ones' with an s, which means, there where more than one of them. Are you saying there were more than one Jesus? Are you saying that Jesus was angel and not man? If Jesus was the word of god, he came out of the mouth of the angels. Bit by bit.
Faergen 1 year ago
@Faergen Maybe you need to redefine how you read the bible. Most people read without understanding because there are things hidden it's wording. If you understand it it is awesome.
Anybody who is married knows believing is a choice. You believe your spouse loves you and is true. You can choose your attitude. Suspicion or trust. I've been there done that so has my wife
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires No, you need to read it, as it was written. You can't run away from the fact, that you try to justify stuff, that is in NO WAY justifiable, unless you redefine Everything in the bible. But that, you could do with anything, and choose to say, well Jesus didn't make water to wine, because wine really means liquid nitrogen. No, I believe my girlfriend loves me, because I have defined what actions she would perform, if she loved me, and she does perform them. So no, it's not a choice.

Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.

HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 You need to read the bible with understanding rather than going to an atheist websites and copying criticism. The Jewish girls were betrothed at a young age. Now the bible in Deut 22 says that the rapist is to die not the girl. You pervert the meaning. Just like in Judges 11 you atheists make it out like the daughter gets killed by her dad. Wrong. He simple follows the "or" part of the agreement and will not give her hand to a man in marriage.

SolomonGrundy101 2 years ago

Smashing the babies to death isn't "self defense"
SolomonGrundy101 2 years ago
Since death is the end for you, then consider that the irreligious has killed 60 million babies in the US. Man is under the curse of sin.
Violence and killing are the dark side of our nature which if left uncontrolled has devestating consequences.
If man would have not rebelled against the Creator, none of these babies would be "crushed" to use your word.
You are just mad because you are under the curse of sin. Salvation is possible through Jesus Christ!

"the irreligious has killed 60 million babies in the US"
Please do me a favor... go and look up the number of religious people in US prisons today compared to the non-religious. Particularly violent crimes.

also, another favor, read your bible please?
--"This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton and a drunkard." Then all the men of the city shall stone him to death with stones
Deuteronomy 21:20-21
blackplatypus 2 years ago
You think its only the irreligious that are having abortions (that's what I'm assuming you're referring to when you say killing babies) but I suggest you do a quick Google search.
You'll find that religious people account for over 75% of the abortions taking place in the United States.
You'll also find that only about 50 million abortions have taken place. I must ask you where you get your statistics.

Solomon, you can enter the love of God for eternity by accepting His Son. When you participate in the love of God, you become a part of the life of God for eternity.
zdennyfamily 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
In addition, I think you are missing the bigger point. God knew the future decisions of all those who died would reject His love. As a result, it doesn't matter when the curse of sin ended their life.
If you reject the love of God, you cannot be apart of the eternal life of God because God is love.
As the Bible says, "God desires that all men be saved."

@SolomonGrundy101 Where does the Bible support Genocide?
ItsSolaFide 1 year ago
@ItsSolaFide Are you serious? Have you read it? The whole Old Testament is FILLED with genocide!
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711
ItsSolaFide 1 year ago
I have a feeling too many christians are shaky in faith. That is why they watch these videos to begin with. You are a straight up liar if you can read the bible, and say there is NO genocide. God broke his own commands EVERY time he sent his men in to ravage women, steal land and possessions, and so forth. If his commands are so freakin' univerally moral why did he break them himself? Rebuke is dashing innocent infants against stones? Is it making women marry rapists? Is it human sacrifice?
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 Sorry to hear you think the bible is full of contridictions. The way most churches/preachers teach is that the gospel of Jesus is the gospel. Thing is that what Jesus taught was to the Jews who were under the law & that they were to keep all of the law. Then they take that and apply it to us today. Yea, there are contridictions if you mix Jesus's gospel with the gospel that Jesus gave Paul to preach to the nations.
Got scripture for your accusations of rape & thevery?
2tires 1 year ago
I don't think the bible is full of contradictions, I know it is. You can remove the entire new testament if you wish. The old testament has plenty. Down to god commanding animal sacrifice, and then asking them who commanded it, and saying he never did. But anyone who refuses to see what is in front of their face doesn't surprise me. You are going on blind faith, where I use the reasoning skills your god supposedly gave me. Why give it to me, if I am not allowed to use it? You should try it.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 You wrote--. Down to god commanding animal sacrifice, and then asking them who commanded it, and saying he never did. What do you mean and where are the verses you are using to arrive at what ever it is that you are trying to say?
Regarding Isa. 13:16 as bad as it sounds, and is, this is like the saying, an eye for and eye, a tooth for a tooth. What was done by that nation will be done to them.
2tires 1 year ago
Later versions added word just, but it has been proven the Hebrew manuscripts do NOT support the addition. Jer. 7:22 for starters. Remove the word just if its there. God says he never commanded their fathers in the day he brought them out of egypt concerning burnt sacrifices. There are other verses, too. I have to get my list, and I will get back to you on them. That is off the top of my head. I am saying either god did or he didn't command animal sacrifices, and the bible can't make up its mind
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 That fact that God was making a point regarding obediance being better than sacrifice in Jer. 7:22 probably will not change your mind regarding contridictions but there it is. The people were caught up in stealing, murdering etc. ON THE DAY thy came out of Egypt. ON THE DAY, it is not that He never spoke of sacrifice just not ON THE DAY they came out of Egypt. You are too trusting of the sceptics. If there are so many contridictions why bring up Jer. 7:22 which in not?
2tires 1 year ago
God was NOT making a point. God clearly stated in Jer. 7:22 and other places, such as Hosea 6:4-7, Heb 10:4-6, Isaiah 66:3-4, Isaiah 1:11-20, Psalm 40:6, Psalm 50:13-15. Scripture argues with itself, period. You can say I am taking a skeptics word for it, but I have done the research MYSELF. You think I am just going to follow what some person says is so? If that were the case I would still be a christian. In the kingdom of god divided amongst myself by 34,000. With nowhere to stand.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 What I find interesting is that fact that nothing is white washed in the bible. God gave Israel the commandments for one purpose which was to make sin more sinful. Yes the bible says that. Also it will be used to judge the non believer. Like l said l am not under the law. It is not that l can live immorally. Paul teaches morals to live by. Now to the Jew the law was to make them realize how immoral that they'd been as attested by Jer. chp 7. God wanted obediance not sacrifice.
2tires 1 year ago
Jeremiah 7:22 IS a contradiction. A blatant one! The word 'just' was added to later version, but the Hebrew manuscripts do NOT support the addition. What if it is you who is too trusting? Do you think for yourself, or just believe what the apologists say? Do you celebrate xmas? Do you go to church on Sun? Because if so you are breaking four commandments right there. You worship in vain, for you follow the traditions and commandments of MEN.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 What are you talking about, the word "just" in Jer. 7:22? I see no such word there. Anyways you just don't get it. You probably went to a church were they mixed the messages of Jesus and the messages of Paul. I am not breaking 4 commandments. I would have to be subject to the 10 to break any of them. Jesus's message to the Jews was keep the commandments. Paul taught freedom from the law. I'm under Paul's gospel in 1 Cor. 15:1-4 concerning Christs death, burial, resurrecting .
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires There are no contradictions at all in scripture, Paul committed his life to trying to live as much like Christ as possible, read 1st Corinthians. I assume you mean contradictions about who the "elect" are, but that does not mean that there are contradictions in the Bible, it means that people interpret things differently.
ItsSolaFide 1 year ago
@ItsSolaFide If you try to say that Jesus and Paul preached the same things then you look at what they in fact preached they do not match up. But they are not supposed to. Jesus was keeping Paul's gospel a secret,. Matt13:35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires
No, the gospel didnt even exsist until Jesus died! There was no good news yet, so what was Jesus suppost to say. "When I die on a cross everyone will have a chance to be saved"? The Pharasees would have killed him before He was done with His ministry! Thats why he spoke in parables.
ItsSolaFide 1 year ago
@ItsSolaFide yes and no. He resurrected from the grave and walked the earth for 40 days. Read what His gospel is in Acts 1 He taught them of the Kingdom of God nothing about the Church, the temple being the people who beleive on Him or freedom from the law. You can also look at what the 12 taught to see what Jesus taught them. It is not the same as what Paul was taught by Christ to teach the nations. This is a set up for the future of Israel. Israel. A good reason to believe the bible.
2tires 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711
ItsSolaFide 1 year ago
God, in a large number of places in the O T, either kills or orders the killing of many and in the cases of children and babies, these can arguably be called murder. If you are christian read your bible. It's a good place to start. Isaiah 13:16 woman ravished. Zechariah 14:2 woman raped. Original language is shakab, translated to rape in the English. Look it up. There is MORE evidence for science than god. All you have is apologetics, & arguments circular in reasoning.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HHNF The law was to drive their need for relief from the law by means of a Savior. He was the true sacrifice, not animals, they were only teach a lesson & for them to demenstrate their faith. That is why you are sadly mistaken about the bible. If you separate the Jewish stuff from the Gentile stuff you find more interwining of information that substaniate one passage w/ other passages it is mind boggling. Much more so than your few verses that you claim are contridictions.
2tires 1 year ago
We will never see eye to eye. I have been where you are, and I am not going back. Jew or gentile don't matter when you consider traditions you celebrate in his name created by man, or the church you visit on Sun., when the true sabbath is Sat., if there is one. There are contradictions down to whether or not jesus told them to take swords or not to. The parts that are the same or consistant aren't a surprise, considering new authors could have copied or gotten their information from old authors.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 Gal 1:11-12 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached I neither received it of man, neither was I taught [it], but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. Rom
16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to MY GOSPEL, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the MYSTERY, which was kept SECRET since the world began.
You bring up Mat. 5:18 but leave out the last part, which is typical. UNTIL ALL IS FULFILLED.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires All is NOT fulfilled though. So why even bring that up? Has your jesus come back yet? I think not.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 Paul who killed followers of Jesus. One would think God would have killed Paul but no. Instead God used Paul to preach grace (the very thing he received from God). So right now we are under grace not law according to Paul. Schoolmaster = law as in Gal 3:24-25, Rom. 6:14 The law was for God's dealing with Jews. Now we are in the time He is dealing w/ Gentiles. I hope that enlightens you regarding the seeming contridiction between Jesus and Paul.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires You can not enlighten me. I have already been enlightened to the fact that Paul contradicts not only Jesus, but himself. He also contradicts James. Either it is faith in grace alone, or it is faith with works. Which is it... are we justified by obeying the works of the Law or not? Romans 2:13 says, YES. Romans 3:20 says, NO. James says yes. The list goes on and on and on. I'm sure you'll have an apology though.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 Rom 2:13 is speaking of your conscience, a law written on your heart. Rom. 3:20 speaking of the Mosiac law which brings knowledge of the law. It acually was to "rub the wickedness of the Jews in their faces" to get them to make changes for the betterment of the Nation, just for one. Again that is no contridition. You start out with one objection & claim that it is only the first of many but you start with a bogus claim. So much for this conversation I guess. Best wishes.
2tires 1 year ago
They are contradicting, period. Either you are justified by works or the blood of Jesus, which is it? Faith alone or faith plus law keeping? You are apparently rewarded in heaven according to your works, right? It all makes far too many contradictions. Christians always apologize for a god who can't be that great. I mean if he was would you have to apologize for him so much? From the start of time sin has been around. Isn't what Adam did? There was NO Mosaic law then. Best wishes to you.
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
One last thing, this whole under the law, not under the law makes NO sense. So you say the jews have to follow the commandments, but you don't? Hogwash. Jesus said NOT ONE jot OR tittle would pass from the law. Right there you have Paul and Jesus contradicting one another. The 'kingdom of god' is divided amongst itself by 34,000 denominations, and Jesus said a kingdom divided against itself will NOT stand. How to you suppose to rectify that? Let me guess, your division is the right one?
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 Paul and Jesus contradicting each other? No Jesus was sent only to Israel to confirm promises made to the fathers-Rom.15:8 There are prophecies galore that Jesus fulfilled in His mission. What is interesting is how He kept things from the Jews. SECRETS- Matt 13:34.....35 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.
2tires 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 Until is a time word. Until is what clues me in on when the jots & titles pass away. The law was a tool [Gal. 3:24-25] that God used (& will again in the future) to get the Jews on the right track but they wouldn't go there. They were to be the instruments to bring Gentiles to Christ but kept on rejecting & rejecting. So God brings on the secret. The Gentiles have Paul instead w/ the gospel of grace. Ironically he is a Jew & the eppitemy of grace.
2tires 1 year ago
@2tires Do you even read what you write? How the hell does that make any sense? So the jews are saved by the law, and gentiles are saved by grace? And when someone gets confused, because the damn contradiction is so blatant they get thrown in hell, right? So as a christian under grace you can do whatever you want, because god's love is unconditional, and you still get eternal bliss. Yet, a non-believer can live a good life, not commit any abomination, and get thrown in hell? Just? I think not!
HellhathnoFury711 1 year ago
@HellhathnoFury711 No the Jews are forced to be under Paul's gospel for salvation because they can not follow the law with no temple in Jerusalam. Jesus never revolked the law because it will be reinstated. Acts 15:16 & Matt. 24:13-20 It will be reinstated after the church is taken out of the world.
Can l live immorally? No l have the law written in my heart.
2tires 1 year ago
Can you live immorally? Sure you could. People that believe do it all the time. Priests molest children, have affairs, become gay. That is all immoral. People who believe kill in the name of God, and that is immoral, right? What the hells the difference between someone's law holding heart, and and atheist without it? I know some atheists that are far more moral than some christians. So the entire Mosaic law, which I still believe God didn't command most of it, is being reinstated? WTH?

i disagree with your tenth "You shall honour they environment" im entirely sure what you mean by this i assume its in reference to this so called man made global warming issue, and though i acknowledge man has caused great damage, i belive this earth is for us to do as we choose with, i also disagree with your third "you shall not abuse alchahol or other substances" firstly what exactly do you define as absuing them? and secondly, i think thats one persons choice to make,
evTom14 2 years ago

Skyler827 2 years ago
Your definition of adultery is ambiguous, and not to your benefit; the term is usually used to accuse both sexes.

- Luana

Have you?
DizzyDior12 2 years ago

What you describe sounds more like basic instinct survival. ....When I live in a nice house with a car and a computer and a TV and all this shit that I don't need while others in the world starve to death I don't do it to be evil, I do for the same reason I'm nice to people. It benefits me. I should have elaborated on the pathetic reasons. I think it's pathetic to be nice just because you think you should, which plenty of people do. Now I don't think that alone constitutes calling someone pathetic, but those actions are pathetic.
MrSalamander7 2 years ago
...Friends are a mixture of both, I want them to be happy and I don't want them to leave me. And of course some people I'm not nice to at all. All of these reasons are selfish, though. At the core of it all these behaviors are no different than when someone is mean or cruel. They either do it for personal gain or for pleasure. Same motives for kindness.
MrSalamander7 2 years ago
What does it matter if the motives are the same? The actions are completely different. Cruel acts don't really benefit anyone in the end but kindness makes things better, even if it's in a very small way.
And I notice you didn't list any pathetic reasons. Which prompts me to ask... if someone is kind to you for a reason you think is pathetic, is that person themselves then labeld pathetic in your mind?
DizzyDior12 2 years ago
Motives don't matter? You're the one that said intention is all that matters to you.
That aside. Cruel actions benefit people all the time. When a CEO lays off 6,000 people to make the most profit, he doesn't do it to chuckle about how evil he is, he does it because it benefits him....
MrSalamander7 2 years ago
Okay, but if someone intends to build someone else up because it makes them feel good or because they think it's the right thing to do, I'm all for it. But if someone intends to hurt someone because it feels good or because they think they're doing right by someone else, then I oppose their actions. That's what I meant by intention. I care about the action, not really the motivation.
DizzyDior12 2 years ago
So if the action indirectly or accidentally hurts someone, like stopping someone in the street to give them the wallet they dropped which accidentally causes them to be hit by a car, that is evil or bad?

DizzyDior12 2 years ago
What I mean to say is that you can be kind with the intention of betterment or you can be kind with the intention of destruction. Even if you're being kind to someone because it makes you feel good to make them feel good... everyone still feels good. If you're being nice to someone to gain their trust and fuck them over in the end, it's different. Both motives are selfish but the intentions are different.
DizzyDior12 2 years ago
So what you're doing doesn't matter, why you're doing it doesn't matter, all that matters is what you're trying to do?
MrSalamander7 2 years ago
Yeah, kinda.... What you do matters but what you're trying to do matters more. At least, that's what matters to ME. It's not like my rules are suddenly the rules of society or God. And if they were I'm sure there would be a lot of crazy shit going down. But they're not, and this mentality works pretty well for me and my life.
And no, I don't think the wallet senario you gave as an example is evil or bad. It was just an accident. Do you?
DizzyDior12 2 years ago
I don't believe in evil. I've got a few questions. Why does intention matter so much to you, why do you care about what happens to other people? Do you think you are better than someone who does bad things like murder out of pleasure/creed/profit/what have you? Also, slightly off topic question, but what would your utopia look like?
MrSalamander7 2 years ago
Wellll, intention matters to me... I don't really know why. Just because I know shit can happen and fuck up your plans but what you wanted to happen is where your heart is? If that makes sense? Your inentions and, in turn, your actions kind of show what kind of person you really are. Even if what actually plays out doesn't go according to plan.
DizzyDior12 2 years ago
I don't really think I'm better than people who just do bad things. Because I'm pretty sure I'm capable of doing any amount of evil if I were in the right situation. And I try hard not to judge because I have no idea how I would react if I were in the place of say, a war profiteer or a murderer. It's like, how do I know that I wouldn't have done the same thing if I had lived their life and were in their "shoes", so to speak.
DizzyDior12 2 years ago
If you don't think doing good things makes you better than people who do bad things then why do you do good things?
MrSalamander7 2 years ago
