like my sister says, "you can't be into the dub scene without loving sts9. they practically invented it." i absolutely agree. sts9 this summer at red rocks, hell yeah!
I would love to play in a band like this. Listening, it makes me think there is a "tension" in place where even the musicians are not sure where the experience is going to take them. One night, the song goes one way, another night, it goes somewhere else. I miss this exploration that evaporates so often when playing cover songs.
lol, its called a composer/writer being patient with the piece they create. circus is a beautiful song, and they dont feel the need to rush through it and have it be over like that, but take the fan on a journey. go listen to fucking heavy then if you dont like this, but that song is trash. this is sector 9! and that guitar player, hunter brown, plays w/in the confines of what sts9 is about, group rhythm favored over solos, which creates one sound, one band.
wow. just plain awful, non-music. One boring loop that goes on forever. sounds like the demo song for some piece of software or maybe an inflight safety demonstration. And that guitar player, with all his equipment, should know what a tuner does.
virtualericgear: if u knew anything about sts9 u would know that they never play their songs exactly the same they improv a lot of their stuff in the middle of the song and go to a show then comment amazing atmosphere and connection with the crowd every time they take the stage
This is not complex and sophisticated - it's the same loop pattern over and over and over. There's far more complex/sophisticated out there. Just listen to the foundation that everything sits on. It's the same thing over -- and over -- and over -- and over -- and over. That's not to say the textures aren't cool, and the soundscapes aren't ethereal. The problem is nothing is holding them up but a boring bass pattern.
@virtualericgear complexity is not and has never ever ever been a prerequisite for amazing music. sts9's entire repotoire is wrought with complexities and insanely confusing rhythms and textures... this song might not be complex... doesnt mean it isnt an amazing composition.
@Bonzoandthemadhatter If you want to call a repetitive and boring foundational loop something that belongs in an amazing composition, that's your opinion. I'm not saying complexity is a prerequisite for amazing music. I'm saying a constantly repeating, uninteresting foundational phrase repeated to the point of being nauseous is NOT how a foundation to an amazing composition is created.
The loss of music programs in schools is really starting to show....bummer.
@virtualericgear i actually am a music minor and go to as many shows of as many different kinds of music as possible. and trust me i am always skeptical of electronica bands or watever...but tribe has an arsenal of music that is ridiculously complex...just because this song isnt particularly complex doesnt mean its no a good peice of music...i dont understand how you find it boring it really doesnt even repeat that many times.. and they play it differently every time...its quite beautiful.
This song brings joy within me, just absolutely amazing gives you a feeling nothing else can give you, fucking love tribe, this song made me cry at new years in denver
u can see zac raging all the way from here haha they are killing it with this song... too bad sound tribe won't be in chicago for their winter/ spring tour, but lets all hope they will be comin through this summer :)
Wow 1:40 = amazing. Look at everyone in the entire theater freaking out, even in the back. If you havent seen STS9 this is one of the best videos to see what kind of atmosphere a soundtribe show is. They played a sweet version of The Rabble this night too.
I was at this show, front row center. I remember at what is 1:40 looking around and not believing what i was experiencing. One of the most intense moments in live music i've ever seen. This show is def worth a download if you havent yet!
I was probably standing right next to you, haha. Front row towards the center and at that moment at the end of the build up, the climax of the song...absolutely incredible. One of the peaks in music that can make me smile and bring me to tears at the same time.
@medicatedmind420 any idea where i can get it? i dont have a good live circus this one is so sick.... just incredible crescendos leading up to epicness
@medicatedmind420 damn man i would be thinking the same thing, that is absolutely beaitufl, beaitful lights with a beautiful song..just amazing. words cant explain eh?
@medicatedmind420 just curious, what were u on? im thinkin some classic doses for when i see them in november. I just wanna experience what u had hahaha
First time I heard this band was just a few weeks ago when I got high with my biology buddy from class. He played that song and it totally changed my view on things, this band has really changed me.
you havent heard anything if its been a few weeks, wait til you see them live, check out their old songs and albums. artifact and perspectives is amazing.
wow blackcrowe are we long lost twin brothers? i was super obsessed with 311 since 3rd grade im 20 now. First time i heard sound tribe i was hooked. used to love 311 shows but I would pick a tribe show over 311 anyday. Just got back from roth, 2 nights of the tribe ahhhhh!

I found out about this group by reading somone's shroom trip on the net and sorry I don't much like this song and don't find them trippy but I bet the light show on drugs is cool, so sorry to say this but I don't like this track much, but rember folk's to each there own.

yea pretty dope, they WERE the best jam band ever, after peaceblaster they became your everyday typical electronica band, very cold and calculated whered da IMPROV go yo, def best circus ive ever heard
agree to disagree we all got opinions, who's right and wrong i don't know, but if you followed them at all in the early days there was mad improv and jam now peacebuster, but then it was rr so its hard to not have a good time, just dont like the direction sector 9 decided to go
I can see how you'd think that. I wish I could have known about them earlier, only been listenin since artifact, but i have listened to all of their albums. seems like they've really just honed in on their style....some ppl may say sellout i guess, but they can do so much more for people now that they are more well known. "every day typical electronica band" is such a kick in the balls though!
Churn'n bro, typical electronica? I was there zuhly and i agree with you, there did go a lil repetative fr a bit BUT red rocks was amazing this year, A LOT of improvisation and greatly done to, they also jam'd into and outta songs, certain parts into others, it was yeaaahhhhhhhhh!!!
i was at this show. it was fuckin sick. best show ive ever been too. this was there final song in the encore and it was awesome. front and center baby!!!
I cannot even fathom a comment that could adequately describe this incredible song....
