JFK ordered the removal of troops from Vietnam after the '64 election. LBJ cancelled those orders. I served on the USS Turner Joy which was allegedly fired upon by the North Vietnamese Navy which LBJ used as the excuse to offically start the war in Vietnam. After JFK many vice presidents were deliberately chosen for their patent inability to assume power, to deter anyone else thought of staging their own coup and topping the president. Think Agnew, Ford, G.H.W.Bush, Quayle, Gore, Cheney, Biden. Much weaker characters than Truman, Nixon or Johnson despite all being appointed within an average human lifespan.

I think why this book is so important is simply because it isn't another book about why JFKs head goes back into the left, or was it the driver? It examines the motives more than the actual event, which to me, is much more compelling.

Douglass does not dwell on the details of the actual event in Dallas. Although he does address the facts of the shooting in great detail and provides the reader with much new information. Douglass decides to put equal emphasis on the motive of the assassins. JFK used his power to misinform the nation, he conspired with Soviets to bring about a new era of peace. He was a traitor to the military industrial complex. We never talk about these motives, they are the unspeakable. Great book!

The problem with Jim Douglass giving the statement of Ed Hoffman seeing the gunmen on the grassy knoll is that he omits to mention Mr Hoffman has been found to have serious inconsistencies with his reported story. Also other witnesses who were in the grassy knoll location could not have failed to notice the actions and events Hoffman said he saw. None of them saw anything similar to what Mr Hoffman says he saw.
