Some songs by Cocteau Twins go into a similiar direction (my favourite, "Alice"). Also try "Song to the Siren" by This Mortal Coil. Yet another David Lynch's gem, a truly amazing TV series with outstanding characters, atmosphere, story and music. It's a shame the second season got carried away "a little", though. On a side note: I don't recall seeing so many gorgeous young women in a single show...

We went out for a smoke, away from all the voices into the backyard where only the little of moonlight kept us from losing each other. This song came on and in a shy and timid approach we began to dance, when she rested her head on my chest I let out a sigh of contentment. It was my first slow dance and I will cherish this song and that memory.

I don't know why people are giving Julee Cruise so much credit. David Lynch wrote all of the lyrics for the Twin Peaks soundtrack, and Angelo B. composed all of the music (including "Falling"), so it's not like she was some terrific artist. All she did was contribute vocals, which are heavily reverbed and could have come from anyone.

managed to come even close to twin peaks in such a way.
