I think this is a great tutorial on singing lower notes, but you could also mention how you should not push down on your larynx to do so. @DuctTapeRox251 You are still probably a mezzo soprano.mezzo soprano has a mid-range (varies though, some can go lower, some can go higher but they can't hit I doubt you're a contralto (G3 to A4) if you are watching this video.

@TheAliceOfSacrifice If you don't warm up your expanding your vocal cords without proper preparation. It can cause vocal damage and strain. It doesn't allow you to sing good range or hit notes correctly if you don't also.

I used to think it made no difference but trust me, it does. Diaphragm is equally important.

Hi Thank you for your video. I belive that your hints may be applyed when you want to sing hight note its actually the same principle. The main difference is when your sing hight notes you may use more head resonance avoiding the nasals areas. Hight notes you can bring to the mounth when you sing belt orto the head usingt he head resonances for example sing classsical songs. Hope i got that right! I am a tenor and i heve dificultyies to sing low notes, please keep posting more videos like this !

I like to sing pieces written for tenor voice in opera to practice low notes, even though i'm a girl. But i choose them carefully - ones that would probably be considered quite high for most tenors, so they aren't too hard for me to sing! They don't sound anything like they're supposed to with a girl singing them though! I had quite a low voice to begin with, but still, its helped extend my vocal range even more. One of my favourites is Dalla sua Pace by Mozart, it's not too difficult at all.

@jainy215 well what's been helping me with low notes is to feel them in the breast area, usually when you sing low notes, make sure you support them good with your diaphragm like xoclkox said, you feel a vibration in your chest, that's a good sign for you doing something right. the more you practice like that the more your voice starts to 'open up' and you ll get to low notes easily. hope it helped you a little.

Question - how many low notes have you, personally, been able to gain through these exercises/practising? Would it be realistic for me to want to gain 2 full notes from where I'm at currently? (I'm like a female tenor, and my lowest note is usually around A2/Bb2.) I'd love to see just how low I can possibly go, hopefully down to F2. In the morning, as I'm sure with most people, my voice is lower, and I have been able to hit it twice, but I'd just like to be able to hit it more easily.

ok well first off baritones can actually sing up to a c6 even d6 in a mixed voicer not even using headvoice. second basses can sing higher thsan sopranos with falsetto. so ur wrong about that. and most women are sopranos. mezzo sopranos can hit low notes for a WOMENS standard. so maybe if their lucky they'll hit an e3. and most men are baritones. tenors are rare, but basses are the rarest of all the voice types.

When you discussed "not widening your throat", a good suggestion I've learned as singing tenor in choir (I'm a female) is to really make sure to lift the soft pallate at the back of the mouth. It should almost feel like yawning.

I used to have difficulty with low notes and I am a guy. Anything after E3 or Eb3 was hard for me. I had to sing Alto when I was in high school, it was comfortable in that register. I'm 25 now. I am some type of Lyrical Tenor with boyish agility as a possible cosideration but ppl say that I'm an Alto because I can go high in chest/belting voice and my falsetto is expansive. It's very complicated.
