I feel so fortunate I was be able to see Rory play many times. I never forgotten the time he gave me a big handshake with a BIG hug , very special ,I was only 18 at the time. Good to see the attention he gets today, at the same time sad that he never received the attention he deserved while alive. He blew all the guitarist away imho, but the big # of fans where still cheering for more Kiss. True folks I was there, (in the states anyways) made me sick.
@MedeaTor Ah sorry I missed you! I WAS in Cork a few months ago, and am planning to go back for next year, hang out in the Blues clubs for a bit. Love the place.
Rory (God rest his soul) was a pardox: a pioneer and traditionalist, with a voice that could be as pure one minute, then as gritty as the most gravelled bluesman.
His guitar was UNSTOPPABLE... probably the most melodic style of blues I've ever heard... he had a great heart - I really miss him, but I know he's wailing away in the heavenly choir.
Matt, thanks for copying the wording I put on Rory's page on the Wikipedia! I'm still working on it while I can.. It's a good feeling to know our scholarship there is useful for something!
Lo vi en Madrid en el 86 u 87 en la sala Canciller.2 horas de concierto al 1000 por cien.Un mito para mi. Ah! y el cabronazo llevaba su mitica Fender pelada.
I know i'm not the first and certainly not the last but.....thanks a lot. This is awesome. It's great watching this. Thank you. Slainte
