When I first started playing the drums my drum teacher made me do this thing called "walking and chewing bubblegum" (don't know about the name, he was quite eccentric :S) but the beat was the EXACT same as this. "kick. snare. kick. snare. kick. snare" this is a standard rock beat that beginners start out with. I agree that it's all about slipping into the groove and then things are easy, but it's way easier to slip into this groove than ethiopia.

thats true, i also started with straight rock. But Chad doenst play the simple kick/snare/kick/snare pattern( but when he does he plays it brilliant) He makes little details which show his talent which make Chickenfoot hard to play

@528freddy OH! and by-the-by, chad smith is just such a great drummer that he is able to trick dumbasses into thinking he's playing a regular old chickenfoot style beat in ethiopia. when if you listen to it and try to tap it out you end up going in and out of syncopation which can really fuck with a person's head since we're so used the standard 4/4 beat and we anticipate that the accent will land on the quarter notes. he even said that he had a little trouble coming up with a beat for it SUCKIT

Sure Anthony kiedis doesn't have a stellar natural tone to his voice, but considering he started off with funk-rap and went through decades of vocal training, combined with the fact he writes better lyrics than Sammy fagar will ever think of, he's not that bad.
