@LilMissyQueen22 Haha. Yes, staples definitely does have A4 copy paper, but I don't know if you will be able to buy individual sheets of them (to get a variety of color). They most likely only sell them in the packs of 500 with only about 5-10 colors in each pack. If you have a Office Depot/Office Max in your area they sell the individual pieces of copy paper for about $0.02 - 0.07 cents per sheet. :D
Nevermind about that a4 question i asked . My grandma saw me struggling making 3D origami with construction paper and told me shell bring me to staples to get better paper . As of course , she loves origami. I went and i saw A4 paper . she told me to get it because that was the best paper for 3D origami . I did and i was making beautiful peices ! Anyway your tips rocked !
@LilMissyQueen22 Haha! Your grandma does origami! That rocks! I am so happy that I could help! It takes a very long time to gather pieces, but I hope you will enjoy 3D origami and the process of building the models. It is a very enlightening hobby and its so fun. Do you have any requests you would like to make for me? :)
Hi great video ! Can you answer my question ? When you fold that tiny triangles can you cut them off ? And can construction paper work out just fine like yours ?
@LilMissyQueen22 Hi! You can absolutely cut them when you fold the tiny tiny triangles, I did it with my green lantern model on deviantart. I am actually not using construction paper, I am using regular A4 paper. Construction paper won't work, it is too thick to make the pieces. I hope this helps!
I really liked your 1st tip, not stacking them..it actually made sense..because my whole first model..it's base fell apart ><, I also tear my paper..but what is the best way to fold the pieces? Using the fingertips..or creasing it very well (with the fingernails)
@lill02 Hi there! The best way to fold would definitely be in between your fingertips. Don't ever use your nails! The harsh creases will make all your pieces vulnerable to ripping. I hope that helps! :D
@iBeautyLovely thank you =)do you also know what model is best to start with as a beginner? =)I see a lot of nice models, but I think those are too hard for me
Yes it does thank you! Ill just try the construction paper as a test to see if it works. You say that using some sorts or paper may cause the model to fall apart? Would it make sence to glue it? Lol or no? Because if it doesn't work, I'm blaming you lol jk
@angelag1327 It is not that they will fall apart, but the type of paper you use will determine how sturdy the model will be all together. Also the way you fold each piece has a huge factor. If you crease each piece with your nails the pieces will absolutely rip while you are putting your model together. You can use glue if you want but it is not required. There is a certain method you have to use when gluing them together. I will probably post another video on more tips later. :)
@angelag1327 Thank You! :) I don't think construction paper will work because of the thickness. You would really have to crease it with your nails to get a nice crease and that would be bad for your model. If you have some laying around and you would like to try it, I am sure it might work. I have never tried it myself. I hope this helps! :)
thanks for the tutorial, now i can do both complex and modular origami. i have one question though, why do most people use A4 paper? is it thicker or something?
@jayleedew A4 paper is normal sized paper its the same size as printer(copy) paper some countries main paper size is A3 or A5 so they where trying to make sure people know the size differences.
@jayleedew You're welcome! There are a couple of reasons for that. One reason is that A4 paper has the right amount of thickness and flexibility so that makes for a solid model and easy folding. Another other reason is because it's the type of paper everyone is accustomed to using/buying in the origami kits. It is also the cheapest and easiest to acquire. I hope that answers your question. :)
Thanx . I'm going to staples tommorow i wasted the first pack maing a hamtro, a whole patch of penguins and I gues a piplup ..

@lill02 Well definitely don't start with the swans. Doing the small models like hello kitty would be a perfect way to start.

I was a beginner and I started with a swan and it came out just fine :D
