I have a Canon GL1 and Adobe premier for my editing software. Will the FS-5 be compatible with my equipment and software? If so, what format should I tell it to record in to be easiest to work with in Adobe premiere?
i have a canon XH A1 and i am using the FS-CV DTE and i am getting alooot of flickering when importing. I used the flicker filter still doesn't help. Any tips? It also seems like i am loosing how good my picture looks.
Hi i dont know why but when importing footage from the FS-CV DTE my footages is super flicky. I put a flicker filter on it and it kind of helps, but it seems that your product is weakening how the video from my canon XH A1 looks, any tips?
Can you make a short video for us non-geeks to show us how set up our pc to recognize the FS5 web page? I have been able to detect that my FS5 is connected to the PC, however have not been successful connecting to the FS5's web page.
Hello I just purchased a Firestore FS-CV for my Canon XH A1s HDV camcorder. Just setting it up and testing it now.
Exactly what wireless dongle do I need to purchase to log from my iPhone via wifi. What is the exact frequency? Can I get this USB dongle from Stapes or the like. (I was just at B&H in NYC yesterday and they had no clue about the dongle (or this model of yours).
Awaiting your response....prepping for a shoot in a day.
I'm sorry but the FS-5 is not compatible with the P2 workflow. The Panasonic DVCPRO HD runs with 100mbit/s and the 1,5" HardDrive in the FS-5 is not fast enough for this - also with this amount of data you need a larger HardDrive than 100GB to really do effecient recording. The FS-100 is specially designed for Panasonic Cameras - thats the one you should look at. It also comes with a 250GB HDD which should be enough for most shoots! Did this answer your question?
Right now we are working hard on the feature to even watch the video on the FS-5 itself. The problem is HD and the enormous calculating power we need in this small box.
So when you have wireless connectivity on the FS5, why dont you make a live feed interface, allowing the footage being viewed on a laptop while recording? The speed of wifi definatelly is capable of sending 25Mbits per second. Live compression is already in the box.
That feature would instantly make it very usefull tool, instead of spending 2000$ on a solid microwave system.
I shoot 1080F24 (Canon) most the time and edit in FCP. I don't see any support for this. Any plans in the future for it?
Also, how about a stripped down model that just gets the video to on the device at a price that doesn't require a person to take out a second mortgage on their house.
Great product, I really dont get why dont you guys make a real on the field video production of how this device performs on set. I must confess that your videos are all a little bit too theorical. When the Fs5 manages to playback video, It will really provide peace of mind.
I would like to know if you can play back your recorded clips on the integrated colour screen - this would be a great feature for whilst on a shoot. Cheers.
I'm sorry to tell you that this feature is not available yet. FS-5 is being improved all the time though and many new features are already planned and being worked on.
On the NAB next week Focus will introduce the 2.0 Version of the FS-5. One great new feature is the playback of your recorded clips on the integrated color lcd screen!
Hi -
Sony FX7 has FireWire out so it should work fine with the FS-5 or FS-H200pro, which I prefer due to the CF cards instead of an HDD!

We shoot all of our commercial production on the JVC HD100 and was wondering if any other companies have used the Firestore for acquisition?

Can I connect any Firestore to any old analog camcorder? If so, how?
GanEdenAustralia 2 years ago
Hi! The Firestores are connected via Firewire - so you can connect it to any "old" camera/camcorder with a Firewire out.
Does this help?

@CoffeeCupMS Thanks but Im talking about a Hi8 or SVHS pre dv or D8.

Hi, Is this unit compatible with the Sony FX-1 (and maybe The Canon HV-20) ?
What's the difference between this unit and the disk unit (none hard drive) ... I think its the 200.
