Blinking Lights tops Electro-Shock Blues in my opinion.
Tbh the things everyone here is complaining about is the very thing I adore about eels: they surf through every genre imaginable, but the quality of songwriting remains.
One of their best live songs. If you can, get a hold of Useless Trinkets, it has their gig at lullapalooza on it and i've never seen E and co rock harder!
ive seen them 2 times one was an angry show after shootenanny came out and the other was the electro shock world tour and both shows were good they have their good shows and bad shows they should have done this live at town hall with the strings
you can hear people singing the wrong lyrics!!hilarious.....the eels used to be better saw them recently and couldnt believe it was the same eels that i loved so much..i was heartbroken...they seem ,these days to be all macho and full of themselves.they'll never top electro shock blues.
The tour you on which you probably saw them was loud, fast and turbulent. It was more about the experience and not about the music itself. It is very likely that you will like the Eels on the next tour, again.
But album wise you are right. Nothing tops Electro-Shock Blues. ;)
propbably your right,It was oxegen festival in ireland 2006 i think..they had a guy on stage doing martial arts, and i think they played i like birds and mr eelsd beautiful blues but very rock versions which i didnt think were so good...just felt a bit dissapointed...but dont get me wrong i love the eels, they hold a very special place in my heart.
This is my favourite Eels song. I've seen them live 3 times and it's always been Eels with Strings, so I've never seen them play this :(. Thanks for uploading x

Does anyone know if The Chet is playing a baritone here? Can't see how he would've got such a bassy sound otherwise

if you like eels/eels solist (mark everett) try watching this great documentary about him and his dad "BBCParallel Worlds Parallel Lives"

Sadly one of those instances where the crowd in the recording put me off a splendid performance of a beautiful song.
Especially when half of them were mubling the lyrics semi-correctly while others whooped in general delight.
I would've moved myself a little round to the right I think! (snob?!)
I'm sorry but this has to be an American gig :) Bless you lot across the pond.

That looks like an old Univox guitar. I worked on a couple just like it back at my old job. Nice stuff there.

it is kind of funny or tragic that electro-shock-blues is and was actually the best album...but it was ironically sold worst of all Eels LPs.
These Guys ROCK!
