This was about a year or two before "Boots". Nancy had released several albums of standards that flopped. After her divorce, a record producer named Lee Hazelwood steered her to more modern pop songs (he wrote "Boots" and "How Does That Grab Ya Darlin'?") and established her image as "moving on" woman, which jump started her career.
Sure Wayne, and Tommy's legs were broken by mystery thugs as he jogged just by coincidence. Get real - Sinatra did everything short of murdering the guy - he certainly murdered his career.
Although I like the rotating 4th chair idea, Tony Randall always gels like he's a weekly member of the panel and the show sparkles all the more with him around.
Ha ha every one of these I've seen where Randall was a guest panel member he says at some point "I'm certain I know who it is" and he's always wrong :P ha ha :D
Well of course after this NANCY went on to the bigger career with hit songs like BOOTS and Sugar Town, but is it true that Frank Sinatra really held back Tommy Sands' career or was that just a rumor? Tommy starred in SING BOY SING and also in BABES IN TOYLAND but after that his career never seemed to take off and he and Nancy divorced. Was Frank Sr. partially responsible for Tommy's career coming to a stand still?
Nancy really looked like her dad -i was reading that she didnt speak to dorothy backstage and blasted dorothy in her book (idk if thats true or not) having frank sinatra as a father in law musta been hard but i did read that he was a veryloving father whom adored nancy (his children) i see other clips of them performing together its really sweet xxx
Very interesting. Dorothy Kilgallen and Frank Sinatra had a long standing feud that is why, I believe, in her lifetime on the show he never appeared...
Nancy and Tom are cute but having Frank as a father in law must have been tough
Hard to believe there was once a time when guys could actually be embarassed about the color of their suit. The fact that it's New York also has alot to do with it. If this had been filmed on the west coast, it would be Tony Randall and Bennett Cerf who would have been considered way overdressed for the occasion.
@IDLERACER hahaha i know, i was thinking 'he shouldn't be embarrassed' then i just remembered this was in '65 haha nowadays it's 'uh, ur wearing sweats on our show' lol i loved those days where suits were the thing to wear, and every man had one! :) times have gotten sloppy :/
1965, 7? months before Kilgallen's death and 1 1/2 years before Frank Sinatra appeared on WML as mystery guest then panelist.
Hail Nancy Sinatra -- at least she exhibits good sportiness to chit-chat with Dorothy Kilgallen even though her father feuded with Kilgallen. I word it that way, because substantially most of what Kilgallen wrote about him turned out to be true.
They are both in their early luscious periods. A shame they divorced later in 1965. Loved him in Babes in Toyland!
@soulierinvestments Interesting comments...Yes, Dorothy died eventually for KNOWING TOO MUCH...a brilliant journalist, and of course Tommy was RUINED for allegedly "cheating" on Nancy.. Sinatra had that kind of "pull" you know.
Frank had power in show business and when Tommy and Nancy divorced, that was the end of Tommy's career. Tommy moved to Hawaii and stayed.

Frank had nothing to do with Tommy's career downfall and just had nothing to do with Tommy period.

I didn't know they were a couple....

Tommy didn't love Nancy, the marriage was a career move on his part. He left Nancy, broke her heart and Frank took care of his career. Sigh....

Well now, whatever it is that Ms. Kilgallen had with the Sinatra's, Nancy and Dorothy both were wonderful in shaking hands and having a little chat.
And Tommy's voice! Such a sweet voice...even when he is talking it's a full, gorgeous voice.
