could you possibly make a video just with the a55 and the Tokina 11-16mm on it and test out the auto focus speed and noise?..I see really good things about the lens but if its doesnt auto focus fast and well in video mode its no good...
@mYOzZyKaT Well, the Tokina definitely wont focus as fast or as silent as SSM or HSM lenses, but its still acceptable. I'll try to test it in a quiet environment if possible.
@hencputwo That would be really great... I know that the Tokina might not be as fast and silent as the HSM like my Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 HSM. But if its anything as silent and fast as my Sony 35mm f/1.8 SAM then its absolutely fine. I really really really like the IQ and build quality of the Tokina and its f/2.8.
I have tried a Sigma 10-20 f/3.5 HSM on my a55 and it looked very barrel distorted even in the center. Must have been a total lemon but the salesman just smiled and said "yes its good.."
You are the first I have seen with a Sony a55 and a Tokina 11-16 f/2.8 lens in video mode..
What is your experience with it? How fast is the auto focus motor? Does it work well in video mode.
I am having a real hard time choosing a real wide lens to supliment my Sigma 24-70 f2.8 HSM.
It comes down to the Tokina or the Sigma 10-20mm f/3.5 HSM and with my experience with the Sigmas HSM auto focus motors the Sigma leads on points but the Tokina leads on build quality and the f/2.8.
@mYOzZyKaT: Thanks, the Tokina AF motor is fairly fast altho quiet noisy. I guess its about the same as SAM lenses. HSM should be faster & virtually silent.
If you don't see yourself using f/2.8 often then the Sigma f/3.5 HSM should be better. The reason I avoided Sigma at this point, because some of their lenses still needed to be rechip to work with DSLT.
