Actually Hulk was in the team at the very beginning, then left after two weeks (comic time) due to a bit of manipulation by Immortus.

The other guys were Ant man, his girlfriend Wasp.

Cap actually was found by the avengers in their first comic, he wasn't there right from the start.

He then tried to take on the avengers solo because he was still hallucinating Bucky's death. Gotta love the crazies of Marvel.
