Actually, Negator stops mana beam from charging. So you can sacrifice magic and aeons to stop mana beam, or use magic and risk mana beam hitting you.

i have something to add you was wondering why rikku jump on that bike and not lulu right? thats because of the answers you gave in some questions to her i read that in the offical ff guide from squaresoft

you said you learned something new, that the negator comes back out. i'm gonna add something to that. the mana beam was in it's final charge right? one turn then it launches? well, it's a MANA beam, that's magic, and the negator seals ALL magic and aeons, right? so the mana beam doesn't launch but instead, nothing happens because of the negator. that's the one flaw in this boss battle. hope it helped :)
