Teen Challenge is amazing! and @mrbeatnikjd --->dont believe everything you hear! They have very legitimate therapy! It's called Jesus Christ! And my husband is there and hasn't said a word about abuse so beware what you listen to! Teen Challenge is helping save our lives!

Teen Challenge was hell. I hated it. They brainwash you in a sense. Leaving you with no freedom. I cried every day in that place. I was in there for seven and a half months.

It didn't "work." Everyone that was in there with me atleast smoked weed after they got out, including me. Not that ganj is bad, though. Lol. Horrible things happened in that place before it shut down. In fact, I was forced to eat nothing but plain oats and water for a mont.. They took me out in public wearing an orange jumpsuit and shackles. I never, EVER tried to run away. Girls were attempting suicide and cutting themselves left and right. They mocked me for my own beliefs.

Teen Challenge is a missionary mill. Unless you like going to church 3 times a day and having the Bible jammed down your throat,,,,Look I'm happy this dude cleaned up his life, but I've been to TC myself and it sucked hardcore. @rac19722009 I'm the mother of two oxy addicts and I'm thankful for Teen Challenge, It's the first "real help" my son has received, after spending thousands on secular rehab, hospitalizations, incarceration,etc. it has been 9 years of heart breaking hell for me as a mother. I praise God every day, that my sons finally surrendered to God. p.s. I remember when my sons were "pot smokers only" Be thankful that you have not succomed to the ravages of heroin or oxy. Thank God for Teen Challenge!

By the way, I'm an atheist and a drug addict/alcoholic. I've been sober for over five years now. I don't know what or who you need, but a support group and some hard will get you sober, god or no god.

Look. I don't like to argue, really-I promise! But the very nature of treatment is that it is anonymous. A.A. does not keep comprehensive records of who comes in and out and why they go in and out. The numbers you gave a guesses at best. Just numbers that cannot be verified. Many, like myself, leave A.A. because it's "too religious". Not because we are using again. You should be more careful when presenting numbers that cannot be independently and scientifically verified.

I too am a recovering drug addict/alcoholic and I recovered without god and without giving up my free will. I'm in a band, we tour, I'm in bars all the time and I live across the street from a liquor store. I've been happy and healthy from 5 years now. I always resented watching people give all the credit to "god" and totally dismiss their "free will". I also have a problem with George W. Bush, whom I consider a criminal of war, for using public tax dollars for religious organizations.
