  • Tout au début j'étais dans un autre onglet et je croyais que c'était une pub :O

  • what pickups does joe use?

  • Donc c'est un génie.

  • je suis une baguette!

  • God those pinch harmonnics are sexy

  • Isn't that called a pick scrape?

  • I see no subtitles.... The fuck.

  • @ShittakeBukakke

actually you need to click on the CC button under the video, mon ami.

  • No subtitles.

  • Where is the english subtitles :S

  • Every other language except for English sure does say "uh" a whole bunch.

  • This video would have had 100 more views if he spoke english xD

  • @jacobbrickane yeah it's a shame dickheads dismiss something just because it has subtitles - how you gonna learn if you don't read at some point, and can't even be bothered with subs?

  • "all amps can sound good"....... yea.... EXCEPT A SHITTY SPIDER!!

  • and what is the "mediator"

  • what kind of distortion is that?

  • To clear up the confusion about his guitar, he is playing a variation on the Jackson SLS 3 model (not the SLS, which was 22 frets) that Jackson built for him. He used to play a stock SLS 3, which had shark eye block inlays on the normal frets (3 5 7 blah blah) and all black hardware, but this custom was changed to his preference to have chrome hardware instead of black and just one custom inlay on the twelfth fret. The stock model is NOT discontinued, but you can't get his custom model. Cheers!

  • @AshtinALWT

Many thanks for the detail on that !

I guess you could have a custom one built if you have the funds :)

  • @EroticarTV No problem dude.. and that's a pretty big "if" right there haha

Oh and also to add to my earlier comment, his custom has body binding as well, whereas the stock model only has neck binding

  • remembers me Spanish tennis player Carlos Moya xD

  • i dont get it

is he hitting 1 string only at 4:39 or is he "hitting" (letting sound) 3 strings D:

i cant make it out xD

  • Kinda looks like Bill Murray from the front..

  • les journalistes des mags guitare sont toujours aussi naze

  • What song is the tapping riff in? The tapping has an melody to it that I love

  • @SteveO19892007 Orborus

  • that was great :) alot of my song creation is based upon alot of Gojira style.. it may not be original but lately what band is.. Opeth and Gojira are 2 bands that iwill definetly look up to all the time for amazing music and originalty i thank them both.. amazing talk through and lesson here from Joe thanks alot Gojira for everything you give.. The Art of Dying !! wooooo

  • Not to be a douche or so but Gojira wasn't first with the pick scratch thing. Just wanted to say that . GOJIRA RULES BTW!

  • @ostfisk I think Neurosis were, actually.

  • I think i will name that technique (the one he doesn't have a name for) a "Gojira Scrape"

  • Wow!!! His style of playing is very unique and he's very humble as well. Great respect!!!

  • that sound is called the whale!

  • Thanks for putting some subtitles up for us !

    2 questions:

What is he tuned to ?

What Jackson guitar is he using ? (looks quite nice and simple)

  • @EroticarTV It's a Jackson Soloist. Not sure about the tuning though.

  • @metalcoyote81 for ouroborus it's drop C, most of gojira-songs is standard D though.

  • @metalcoyote81 Tuning is D standard

  • @EroticarTV

Most, if not all of Mars to Sirius was D standard. Select songs on The Way of all Flesh are in D standard, the rest of that album is played in D standard drop C. Ghe plays a Jackson soloist with the SD zebra pickups, and incase you care about their amp setups, they play the EVH 5150 series. (He's in D standard here)

    Hope this helps.

  • @monox2k

    Thank you :)

  • @monox2k

    Many thanks again.

What string gauge's do you guys think would be suitable ?

(I know it's a personal thing but curious)

  • @EroticarTV 11-52

  • @EroticarTV

He's probably using at least 11s being in D standard.

I personally use Ernie Ball's 'skinny top heavy bottom' for drop D. They keep soloing easy on the fingers, but retain the thick low strings, which I greatly prefer.

I keep two of my other guitars in D standard/drop C and another in drop C#. For D standard I use 11s and for drop C I use 12s. There's a lot of personal preference involved, but I'm used to the heavier gauges, and I find that they sound vastly superior for this style.

  • @monox2k Just to clarify, the stock pickups are both Seymour Duncan '59s.

  • @CyValkarion Yeah, I just call em zebras, as most other people do. I have the exact same guitar and it comes stock with them. You can get it for just over 1000 dollars in North America.

  • @monox2k It's just that zebra is the colour not the type you can get a lot of pickups in zebra thats all

  • @Gibbson21 Yeah, I'm aware. I own the exact same guitar.

  • @EroticarTV Gojira normally play 1 step down.. so I'm going with that

  • @EroticarTV Its in D standard.

  • @EroticarTV Tuning here is D standard: DGCFAD

  • @EroticarTV The tuning is D Standard.

So the tuning from lowest to highest is:

    D

    A

    F

    C

    G

    D

  • @EroticarTV they tune to d standard and drop c :)

  • @EroticarTV D Standard tuning

  • @EroticarTV here its D standard

  • @EroticarTV They usually play in a full step down.

  • @EroticarTV They play in D standard for everything except a few songs on the way of all flesh, like toxic garbage island.

  • @EroticarTV They play in D standard on all their songs except a few on the way of all flesh are in drop C, like toxic garbage island. I'd imagine this one was in D standard, don't quote me on it though.

  • @EroticarTV Dropped C

  • @EroticarTV He is either tuned to the full D tuning or Drop C. Depending on the song or riff he is playing... most of Gojiras songs and riffs are in full D, but songs like All The tears, Toxic Garbage Island and Vacuity are in drop C

  • @EroticarTV for the album All the ways of flesh he plays in Drop C in from Sirus to Mars he plays in D standard

for the song he is playing its Drop C

  • @EroticarTV They normally play in Dropped C so it is probably safest to assume that is the case.

  • @NatTheWise I dont think they use 'drop' tunings, I think you mean C standard...majority of the online tabs for this band are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off.

  • @EroticarTV It's a Jackson SLS, a discontinued model.

  • @EroticarTV If you can get your hands on an SLS, never let it go. Ever. I doubt you'll want to either. The neck is like silk, they're lightweight and the body contours are just plain sexy.

  • @EroticarTV it's D standard (DGCFAD) I think..most of their songs are in that tuning

  • @EroticarTV In this video he's in D standard (standard tuning down a whole step). Gojira also use Drop C.

  • @EroticarTV its D Tuning- 1step down !!!

  • @EroticarTV its drop c

  • @EroticarTV std d

  • @EroticarTV I think it is Standart - D

  • @EroticarTV i suspect D standard

  • @EroticarTV i think its down by one step... not sure thought...

  • @EroticarTV D standard, like every other Gojira song besides their drop C stuff

  • @EroticarTV I'm pretty sure this song is played with the guitar tuned one step down (DGCFAD).

  • @EroticarTV the tuning for this song for Oroborus is D Standard but some other songs are in Drop C

  • @EroticarTV I think he's tuned in drop C (everything one whole step lower)

  • @rubnaus no that means the e string is droped t c while the rest is in d he plays in d standard

  • @bringerofplagues1213 Oh, really? Sorry about that :\

  • @rubnaus na your good man now you know. haha but also with gojira some songs are in drop d. wich is where the e string is a d and the rest are standard tuning.

  • @EroticarTV

He tuned the guitar in D for terrra incognita, the link and from mars to sirius. In the way of all flesh he uses drop c in some songs (toxic garbage island, vacuity, art of dying and the way of all flesh).

    Q. when he is tapping during that first riff, is he pulling off towards him or away? I'm sure it don't really matter if you get can a good sound out of it, just curious.

  • edit: towards him :)
