  • Anyone who listens to Lorelei would immediately be cured of erectile dysfunction.

  • I give this song a 100 out of 10!

    Same goes for STYX itself!

  • I thought I was the only one that liked this!

  • That's nice to hear, dtor08 !!! keep this music alive !!!

  • my favorite song from this album .

  • I'm a DY at a Swedish radio station mid-state MN. I was stunned that in their music library the only Styx tunes were post 1980. I've changed that, of course.

  • My girlfriend and I decided to move in together today and I told her I thought of this song... now she doesn't want to live with me anymore.

  • When I drove home in my 72 Fury from my job back in the 70's I would hear this tune and crank it up and stomp on the gas, I could actually see the gas gauge go down, got about 5 miles a gallon anyway.

  • sweet

  • Brighter than the stars forever.

  • I thought a Styx song would be clear of those "Im 16 and I love the 70s, 80s, and 90s Screw Justin Beiber." but I guess not

  • I say god damn!! wow this is good have not heard in a while

  • Love Styx, and Shaw/Blades is such a talented pair. Shaw/Blades did an appearance on Stern where they played anything asked. Anything, and played it well. That's tallent.

  • I've trained my son to love the classic rock! He's 17 and he knows all the great bands and their music. Styx included. This time will never be duplicated again. So sad. Too bad.

  • Grwoing up in the late 70's Styx and RUSH were my top 2 groups

  • @kozseluham

    2112!

  • so true cindylcain59, kids today cant save thier lunch money for two weeks and purchase a ticket like back in the day...i wish shows weren't such an "event" and all with the premium prices today. we saw so many shows and had so many memories and it would be nice if the young ones could have similar experiences, regardless of their musical tastes

  • that chef guy is such a badass he uses his fuckin hands to flip steaks!!

  • rock shows ran about six bucks in the 70s festivals about twelve, NFL 15 BUCKS!!! NOW YOUR LUCKY IF YOU CAN GET A BEER FOR THAT AT SOME OF THESES VENUES

  • @astromario1055 and the minimum wage was about $2.50

  • Every man dreams of his Lorelei

A beauty with a sultry & warm smile, completely taken by him, able to love no other

Always ready & willing to go & do & live life as full, free & fun as she can

Every man dreams of his Lorelei as the light of his life, the one he can adore with all his heart & soul, & the only one he lives for, who's beauty is unsurpassed and brighter than the stars above

Every man searches and dreams of her as his own gift from God above

    I'm still dreaming that dream...

  • Hehe. Styx played at Sweden Rock Festival earlier this year... I have never seen so many hardcore-freaks in my life. People went there from all over europe (problably even the whole world) with 1-day tickets just to watch Styx perform. I remember one particular guy dressed only in huge underpants who were rockin' and dancing along the whole show (actually i think you can find i on YT. alot of people were filming him)

  • 5 people dont like this song

  • didn't wishbone ash do this song first?

  • @crunk88 it may be the same name but it is not the same song. so i guess it would be a NO!

  • My name Is Lorelei, humm thanks xD

  • is it just me or is 2:23 one of those choruses that you can listen to over and over and over and over and etc. again??

  • I'm 14 and i love styx this is like the best song ever

  • that was a time that was and isn't any more. Son sad indeed I can't relive my youth.

  • And they can play their instruments and everything! Gosh I loves this..

  • i miss this song from my youth

  • "Lorelei" had a blend of the acoustics and the electric guitar in the song. This tune had energy and liveliness for the duration of the song. Well Done!! A Brilliant 6 From February 1976.

  • My parents named me after this song. Not all kids have horrible taste in music.

  • reminds me of the good old days.......cars, girls and rock and roll!

  • I love this song, it's one of the first songs I remember hearing as a kid. I'm very thankful that my father showed me the music of his generation.

  • @Wildence582 No kidding, Same here actually, god I love this song as well as Light Up

  • I saw Styx a couple times in late 70's...Everybody came then (Louisville) and it didn't cost a fortune. Big parties in the middle of the floor. Nope, kids today don't have a clue what they missed. I can't get my teen nieces to listen to stuff like this. It's either lame or stupid...heartbreaking.

  • @cindylcain59 Lmao, teen girls/boys have no taste in music, you should know this by now, they'll learn it as life goes on.

  • @Shinzu92 not all of us do. some of us were brought up "right" when it comes to good music, and will always prefer the classic stuff like this. (though i'm not technically a "teen" anymore, i'm in my early 20's, so i probably fall into that category in your mind.)

  • @Shinzu92 false i'm 14 and love styx

  • @itsmemarioooo Lol.

  • @cindylcain59 Music today suck this rap crap, or pop bull, today it's about the money and the spot light, back then it's about the talent and real instruments, wonder why im still stuck in the past, 50's through the 80's is the best era for anything.

  • @cindylcain59 That's sad. I'm a 90s kid and I listen to this stuff all the time. Sure, there's some new (ish) stuff that's good, but nothing beats the good ol music like this. :)

  • @cindylcain59 You didn't get them into this early enough, it seems. I've lived with this godliness all my life, and I'm 15. Next kid you or your siblings have, get them on this IMMEDIATELY. If they don't like it to start with, it's too late for humanity.

  • Comment removed

  • @cindylcain59 I'm only 17 and i LOVE this stuff! todays music is just fake! this kind of music was real! it meant something!!! How utterly screwed i am to be growing up in the time of justin bieber!

  • @adamfly1 dont forgrt about cody simpson that is pretty much a younger version lol :p

  • @cindylcain59 accually..i'm 13...i love all these 80's 70's and 90's songs...i hate all that rap... :) so i did miss out on the years but the music is great!!!

  • @cindylcain59 Actually I like it! I like all the rap and rock, but since we had to play this song in band, I LOVED it :)

  • @cindylcain59 Oh don't worry.

I know perfectly that I missed, I wish I was born wayy earlier xD

I like pretty much all style of music, even the weird stuff they do today but...I really prefer Queen, styx, cream, led zepplin, the rolling stones, etc.

You'd be surprised to know how many teens prefer this kind of music :P There is still hope!

  • @Naessly a true open mind likes all things that dont offend, your lucky to be born in an age were you have soooo much varity in the music of the world enjoy keep your ears and mind open and you will be a great person, peace long life great riches on you

  • @cindylcain59 im 18 man an i cant get enough of styx !!!!!

  • I wanna name my daughter Loreali after the Gilmore Girls. Love this song<3

  • I named my Daughter after this song...thanks to my Dad---his favorite song :)

  • A long, long time ago, there used to be a thing called "FM Radio".

And they played music like this....

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 Amen Brother! People who weren't around then don't get it. WIDE open foremat stations! There was a station in our area as a kid where you could hear Johnny Guitar Watson, Styx, The Doors, Zep, Earth Wind & Fire, Argent, Alice Cooper, you just never knew WHAT would be next! ...then came the damned play lists & tight on-air time scripts & mtvish gross commercialization... But man, those of us who got to hear it will never forget those maverick years in rock radio! Peace my friend!

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 And THOSE were awesome times for music. No boundaries, just great music.

  • @JeffTheCanuck2 . Well Down In Texas It Used To Be AM Radio - Where FM Came Later

  • sweet

  • great song

  • I always think of lorelie, great song

  • I've often wondered why songs like this get much less air play than others. the classic rock station here in Central Indiana, Q95, plays Renegade by far the most, Blue Collar Man second and Too Much Time on My Hands the most, the Deyoung songs they play are Come Sail Away and Suite Madam Blue and that's really it, no Mr. Roboto, no Snowblind, no Best of Times, you damn near have to beg them to play Come Sail Away. I wonder if it has to do with the way Styx currently is?

  • My name is Lorelei too :P

  • My name is Lorelei!!!

    oh-yeah

  • @hardboard82 One of us stole each other's name :P

  • One of their better albums without a doubt. Pure unsoldout ROCK!!!

  • One of their better albums witout a doubt. Pure unsoldout ROCK!!!

  • Ahh, I love this song cuz this is my name :D

  • Best Styx song ever!!!!!

  • STYX---":LORELEI"

  • Ah, from back when Styx was GOOD (as in, anything Pieces and before)! Ah, how I miss those days...

  • Styx is soooooooooo underrated!!

  • @platinum014 It is impossible to explain just how much they are underrated!!!!!!!!!!

  • @regionguy149 lol. well said.

  • One of their best! The entire album shines!

  • MY name rocks! :D

  • Awesome song. Anybody who was hitting concerts back then knows that just a few years earlier they were playing in high school proms and such....before they hit the "big time" :)

  • The reason why so many people think Tommy Shaw is on this album

is when A&M Records reissued this album, they used the now -classic lineup

(DeYoung,Young,Shaw,Panozzo,Panozzo) on the inner sleeve. I have the

"Equinox" LP with Cureleweski on the inner sleeve.

  • @StyxFan93 ??????????

  • I love this song and my name is Lorelei and I was named after this song:)

  • I still don't get why they make fun of this band on "That '70s Show." Fuck you Donna, I love Styx!!

  • @thefloyd141 That was a joke.Styx was the biggest band in the world

    at that time!

  • @AnnaAnnaYes Oh...well I was thoroughly offended. Thanks for clearing that up!

  • @thefloyd141 I was 15 yrs old when"The Grand Illusion" came out

(The album cover they were holding in that 70's show episode)

  • I heard this song on the radio about two years ago and have been trying to find it again on and off. The entire time I thought it was a Rush song. I remembered it sounded like Come Sail Away's "I thought that they were angels" and that is when I looked up Styx Lorelie and found it.

  • My name is Lorelei!!!!! i love this song!!!!

  • @777lordel777 lets live together!

  • How did GILMOUR GIRLS not ever use this if not as a reference?!

  • thanks for posting awesome audio tracks....appreciate it....

  • sytx was my first concert dec. of 1978 at the garden nyc back up band was angel back then styx filled all the large arenas i saw rush & genesis back then too but they were playing smaller venues capiotl theather & palladium. if styx could settle there differences and reuinte with the surviving members there upcoming tour playing grand illuison and pieces of eight in there entirity would sell out the large arenas again

  • Dolton, South Holland, Riverdale, Cal City.... 1970s

  • favorite styx song

  • I recorded Suite Madame Blue.....I am going to do this one too real soon!!

  • This song still ... has one of the most impressive crescendos for a rock song! It builds beautifully!

  • Comment removed

  • This Spanish news station would play the beginning of this song to start there program. ASS HOLES.

  • Oh my heavens, this brings back so many memories! I was a huge Styx fan. I had this "album" and I'd put it on my "record" player and turn it WAY UUUPPPP! I had a stereo system that had those HUGE speakers.LOL, I thought I was SO Cool!

Man, I miss those days!! Life was great then.....

  • what is funny I like this song and it is what my mon named me from lol.

  • THIS IS MY FAVORITE STYX SONG.

  • Ah,the seventies---the golden era of love songs about creatures from Greco-Roman mythology!

  • There has been and will be only one Dennis !

  • @StyxFan93

LOL I certainly hope so xD

    Here's a beer bro...

    \m/\m/

I just wanna know how this Lorelei chick I saw the other day turned out to be so not rock and roll... :( we broke up today but that's ok.

I mean who isn't a styx fan when you are named after a song?!!!

    GO HAWKS! xD

Now playing - too much time on my hands

  • Too cool.

I'm surprised I have not hear this one before. Too Much Time on My Hands is a favorite and they played it often here in the windy city in the 80s.

I just went out with a girl named Lorelei last night that was named after this song.

I think some of you are right- Styx should get more airplay. I guess its hard with the Genesis and Rush types of the time- I think that's why they get overshadowed.

Long live Styx - thanks for posting. :)

  • @blackhawkfan54 Styx was much bigger than Genesis or Rush in the mid-to-late 70s.

  • @Baritone45

I guess its the drummer in me. I do remember hearing many of Styx great songs during their time. But at the same time we remember the neil pearts and phil collins types. Steve Smith? Jeff Procaro/ Ya know? I give hella credit to Tommy Shaw and their rhythm section. Its cool at least to an unearth a classic I never heard of before from the past- now and again like this one.

  • @blackhawkfan54 This is actually before Tommy Shaw was in the band, it was James Young and John Curulewski on the guitars during this time

  • @blackhawkfan54 Yeeeeeeaaaah, riiiiiiiight. YOU went out with the chick that this song was named after in 1977, just last night?!

  • @borgduck

Uhm... yeah I did- 4 months ago. Her parents liked the song obviously and had some reason to name their offspring about the tune.

Though she was not fitting to the title, fun lay but not rock and roll enough for a relationship. Maybe Mom was more fun when she was younger... LOL!

  • Styx trivia - Does anyone know who the lead singer of the group was during the time this album was made? And who replaced him?

  • my favorite styx song

  • I love this song. I just saw Dennis DeYoung concert, and he did and acoustic set. It was amazing.

  • One of the great girl name songs ever.

  • This song just kills! Maybe my favorite Styx song!

  • STYX IS F$%&ING KING....!

  • I don't know why, but Dennis liked to drop his r's when he sang, even though he's from Chicago. Hit #27 in Billboard. That's why Canadians mistook Styx for an English group. God bless!

  • These songs went so well with the cars we cruised in those days. 77 Pontiac Grand Prix and our 66 Corvair.

  • uuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • Saw sStyx and Speedwagon in Columbus,Ga. went to see Speedwagon but left a Styx fan. Theres no way Speedwagon should have closed. Styx rocked and Dennis Deyoung's replacement blew me away.

  • once again this one takes me back a long way, way cool

  • The early STYX is best! Love this song! Rocks!!!!!!!!

  • Love it;-) lol

  • when I hear Rock like this, and then think of the totalCRAP,that their trying pass off today:no voice, bad sound,no soul;I think how great this kind of rockn roll is and hope this younger generation finds an apreciation for it.

  • @owlcritic I agree, but I think what's coming out now is not as bad as the 90's... that's gotta be the worst decade ever for music

  • @LennieSparrow Yea,thats tru,the 90's sucked with a siphon hose. The 80's,for all its big hair and spandex, still rules over the 90's.But they will never be any thing like the 70's again.

  • The best Styx song in my opinion!

  • fantastic song! styx is such a great band.

  • Gawd, I used to air-drum to this song in 8th grade!!! Love it!!!!

  • When rock ruled!!

  • It's easy for a lot of Us to get down these days with all that's going on.....until I listen to this. Great memories!

  • makes my think of Lorelei Shellist Steves ex-girlfriend

  • What a great great great great CD...

  • Awesome thanks for the post

  • this albumn is a classic every song on equinox is killer

  • Best Styx song ever? It's gotta be close!

  • @eucutta1 It's right there with Light Up! Wow...memories...this still stands up! Fantastic!

  • This was from the album Equinox ,the album I had was yellow and transparent along with The Grand Illusion. It was around the time they started to make picture disc alubum like Bat out of Hell by Meatloaf.

  • Reminds me of happier days ;-)

  • I know what you mean brother!

  • this should've been gilmore girls theme song lol

  • This reminds me of the girl back in the day when I had such a huge crush on her.....L

  • You're not alone LAZYRMAN...
