Diabetes is very easy to cure.

Depends on definiton of cure and type of insulin / mechanism.  If someone can live a normal life without daily insulin injections and with a normal blood sugar level that is good, even if the treatment process to enable this has to be repeated every few months.

i still dont see how stem cell differentiation into pancreatic beta cells, now placed in the liver, would cure type I diabetes. they would still have surface markers of the islet cells and would therefore be susceptible to the autoimmunity. which is the problem with type I, its autoimmune and there is no way to fix it without severely suppressing the immune system.

As for insulin producing cells from stem cells, I believe there is still an issue with the auto immune system attacking these cells which if im correct will limit the success of the cure. Logically it is the auto immune system which is fundamental in a chance of a cure?

I share your frustration but there is some hope, Dr Faustman. Try to be patient, I know its a hard ask but I've been waiting for 25 years others even longer. Dont lose hope mate just hang in there for realistically a few more years. Dr Faustman is already well within human trials so this is a good sign.
