No, it's possible to cast spells without the book when it's in a different place. As long as the book is still yours and no one takes it, you can cast spells.

Why burn her book when Zatch and Kiyo can just take it home with them and stash it somewhere so that she can't use its spells and she'll be safe because the book wouldn't be found, if they like buried it or something where they could get it later if they needed to.
