Anyway, this is an excellent design, carrying on the recent retro park style, replacing the bland, sterile 60's stadium design. The iconic rotunda is a nice nod to Ebbets Field and the Brooklyn Dodgers legacy.

World Series were won at Shea Stadium in 1969 and 1986 and at Yankee Stadium in 1977, 1978, 1996, and 1999 in the same time period. Wrigley Field and Fenway Park haven't hosted a home championship in about a hundred years for each. Shea is NOT a dump. The Cards won the World Series in 2006. I'm sure the "Boston Massacre" must refer to some time when you killed them. I watched the 2003 ALCS and I know about 1986 series with the Mets and Bucky Dent. i'm too young for that. i'm 16. and i don't spend hundreds of dollars. i barely get to go to games. i go to maybe one a season. sometimes i go because when my mom donates blood, she gets free tickets. besides that, we usually get the $10 bleacher seats.

I'm glad to see Yankee Stadium go. It was filled with memories of 'roids, classless fans, nd classless ownership tht doesnt care about society. While USA is in a eco. crisis, they r spending $100 mil. more than they should and give some money to the ppl tht deserve it. The salary cap in the MLB, w/ other sports should be... lets say... $25 mil.
And as for the history, there is none for either ballpark yet, but there will be no history for the Yanks, they have the "Curse of Yankee Stadium".

Citi Field, with it's small amount of 'regular' seating availability and all its luxury suites makes me sick. I don't blame any Yankee fan for feeling the same about their new ballpark.

Anyway, this is an excellent design, carrying on the recent retro park style, replacing the bland, sterile 60's stadium design. The iconic rotunda is a nice nod to Ebbets Field and the Brooklyn Dodgers legacy.

Wrigley Field and Fenway Park have been around a lot longer than Shea, and Wrigley Field is a safety hazzard with the brick homerun wall. & Fenway Park looks much uglier than Shea and has a deep right field wall concaving into a smaller than regulation HS outfield wall when you get to the big ugly "Green Monster" in left.

World Series were won at Shea Stadium in 1969 and 1986 and at Yankee Stadium in 1977, 1978, 1996, and 1999 in the same time period. Wrigley Field and Fenway Park haven't hosted a home championship in about a hundred years for each. Shea is NOT a dump. I was on the field on 9/17/86 as fans were ripping it to shreds after the division clinching and after resodding it by the postseason the field and stadium looked beautiful and the atmosphere was electric.

da reason y mets have so many hamstring injuries is cuz they dont stretch i work at the concessions i am a stand manager and we have 2 b there b4 all the fans come in and they do no stretching AND I BEEN IN THE TUNNEL I MET THEM GOT ALL THEIR AUTOGRAPHS THE SECURITY IN THE TUNNEL IS NOT STRICT AT ALL. next year at citi field i will b working security

Missing Shea will be like missing your long lost Uncle in Rikers. Sure you got some fond memeroies of the old bastid, but what a sad site he is. RIP Shea Stadium. Maybe a new stadium can bring some good karma to my beloved Muts.

i like both stadiums but why the hell would u cry when SHEA is torn down, Yankee Stadium people will because of the history of baseball and fights, and football, and the pope and so on, SHEA is a dump and i believe Mets fans like u would be happy to get a new stadium while Yankee Fans are more skeptical
