  • But what is stop you from rebuilding that electrical train and show these "evil companies" that it can be done in other ways? If it's true that rail-road is much more efficient, why are so few creating network and doing profits from it? I think Naomi really could gather her supportgroup and build up one of these railroad networks with money invested from her support group, to show the world if she is really right about it. But to confiscate others property just does harm to the society!

  • @Warzoooooo Well, I don't believe Naomi was being literally meaning it. She was using it as a 'what if' illustration.

I think US society would need to re-prioritize towards public service, and then you would be accused of being Socialist (my experience). Even police "serve and protect" the elite, at the expense of the common person. Like, it's okay to send American jobs to Communist China, to bail out banks and corporations, promote US world empire -- but single-payer health care for all?

  • @greatbroad Acctually bailing out banks is a form of socialism, its called corporatism. When ever you give the goverment power they will eventually abuse it. Thats why govt. should only protect life, liberty and property. But when yo give them the power to take from one to give to another (socialism) it will be used in the wrong way sooner or later (corporatism), and through out history there is no stoping of it, except free capitalistic market, where the govt. does only what i just said.

  • @Warzoooooo I believe when big government is welded to big business, that is called fascism. Like Germany once was.

Information is the currency of democracy. It used to be, people had journalists to tell the truth. It has been replaced by propaganda, promoted by corporate owned media.

I was born during President Eisenhower, saw the overthrow of the US Government when JFK was assassinated, and have witnessed the dismantling of the US by greedy corporate interests -- not all American.

  • @greatbroad And democracy is what enables corporation to do those things. As with democracy anything can be a law as long as the majority think its right, wheter its right or not. Facism is when only a small group is acting anyway they want. Corporatism is when several different corporation lay out the laws for theire benefit, a little like socialism where diffrerent groups try to take from others.

  • @Warzoooooo Have you heard of the American, Thom Hartmann? He wrote a book, "Unequal Protection; the rise of corporate dominance and theft of human rights." A 2nd edition is out, soon (recent US Supreme Court decision, increasing corp power). He traveled to the US Archives and read, word-for-word, the US Supreme Court case, "Santa Clara County VS Southern Pacific Rail Road."

--Hartmann's book is based on this case: corporations have taken personhood away from natural persons and we r slaves.

  • @greatbroad The reson why jobs are sent oversea is because americans dont want to do them anymore. They have become lazy and just want to get stuff for free. The way great nations allways fall. And even if you find americans willing to do the work, they want too high wage, so noone will by the products at those prices. There is a reason why jobs are leaving, best way to prevent that is to know the reason why they are leaving, not trying to force laws to forbid them to do so.

  • @Warzoooooo I see you live in Finland. Did you happen to see any of the Michael Moore documentaries, like "Roger and Me"? It's about General Motors Corporation during the 1980's, closing car mfg plants in the US.

Have you ever been to America? I do not understand your statement about Americans. Americans take the least vacation time as any free industrialized nation and work longer during the week.

If you are watching TV shows, then that is a fantasy.

  • @greatbroad I've seen Michael Moore, and his argument sounds alot like our social politicans.I just couldn't believe that Americans didn't notice what all the regulations were doing to theire country back then.

I've been in America. And I know TV shows is not taken from the avarage american life. The problem in america is that its not a industry nation anymore. Due to alot of regulation its a "service" economy, but thats just a fantasy economy. An economy needs production

  • @Warzoooooo Do you know Michael Moore's life story? His family was affected by the Detroit auto giants for three generations. when you mess with Detroit, Michigan, USA then you mess w/Michael Moore and his family. Has relatives in Canada, so this is why he wrestles with the disparities between neighboring countries and personal friends & family. It is personal, not political with Michael Moore #1, then the political bent is both the cause and cure.

  • @greatbroad Things I reacted to when visiting USA was that you could really see that there had been freedom in USA, but at the same time you could get the grip of all the freedom thats been taken away in the past decades. And Obama is working even harder on that agenda. The reson why Americans cant take longer vacations is because your goverment is almost as expensive as our govt. in Finland these days. Thats a burden upon the economy in a bad way.

  • @Warzoooooo War is bankrupting America. The same folks are making money supporting both sides, so war will be a constant. It's like we have a war-economy, a prison-economy (check out the leaders in the stock market). Would this qualify as a service economy?

US was #1 in mfg when I was a child, largely because WWII destroyed factories everywhere else. Every nation in my opinion, must have mfg for balancing their population's employment needs. Otherwise, it's the dole.

  • @greatbroad No, the war engine is just a small part but its a manufactur, aut it sure is bankrupting america.

Every country needs mfg sure, but not for employment, but rather for their poulations consumption need. The reason why USA has such a high trade deficit is because almost nothing is produced all thou alot is consumed in America.

  • @Warzoooooo My parents both had limited education. Both only went to 8th grade. Yet, my father paid off a brick home on an acre lot, working one income. They divorced when I was a kid and my mom was able to also get a small home on an acre lot and paid it off in full, working in a plastic-injection-mold factory.

None of this would be possible, today.

If you actually lived here in the US, then I would hold greater weight to your words.

It is NAFTA and union busting for the past 2 decades

  • @greatbroad Because USA used to be a producing nation, now US is only consuming. And thats mostly due to govt. intervention, like in the rest of the world, like where I live.

So the exact same words would be more correct if I just would live in US? How can I not just see what have failed in our socialistic society and see some familiar patherns in US policies and govt. structure?

  • @Warzoooooo Not sure what you are talking about, "exact same words" as there are too many comments.

But I would say, if In Finland you must carry your passport everywhere or be fined like I came to understand years ago, then Police State, too. The fact that globalists want to secure their own family fortunes and we (rest of the world) can all go to hell, then yes to that, too.

And if they lie in Finland to frighten people into submission to control them, I'd say you have "bingo."

  • @greatbroad You mentioned that if I would live in US you would hold greater weight to my words.

No you dont have to have your passport when walking the streets in Finland. But still there are way too many laws that if the govt. just wants you out of theire way, they most likely find something they can put you in jail for.

Sure politicians lie to us in Finland also. And that is by most done so that govt. can do things otherwise wouldn't be very popular. Take the Greek loan for example.

  • @greatbroad Btw, Peter Schiff has writen a book called "Why an economy grows and why it crashes". In that book he explain the basic of how an economy works and what acctually make it inefficient. And why the capitalistic system that seem to only benefit one but acctually benefits everyone in the society. For most ppl, economy is hard to get a hold of, but I would say that almost anyone should be able to understand the basic of economy by reading this book.

  • @Warzoooooo Well, I do hold a business degree as well as having my own business for over 20 years. I do understand economics.

We do not have competition in America - this is a myth. We do not have free trade or capitalism. We have a corporate-controlled government in America. The republic was sold to the highest bidder, decades ago. You would know if you lived here, so please spare me your "know-it-all" rhetoric about what's going on here in the country where I live and breathe.

  • @greatbroad There are many economist in this world that acctually dont understand the basic of economics. I didn't say you don't understand, I just pointed to a book that explaines the basic very well.

I know America is not capitalistic nor relay on a free market. And democracy is what made it possible, because democracy can over rule the constitution. Mostly I reflect on Naomi that she really doen't understand every bit that builds up this world. She still wants to give govt even more power.

  • @Warzoooooo Well, I think Naomi understands the psychology of "The Shock Doctrine" enough to explain how "crisis" can be orchestrated. The crisis is needed to push an agenda thru that otherwise would not have been possible, had people their wits about them: The US Patriot Act, for example.

The bailouts have been the largest transfer of wealth from the middle class to the richest -- in US history. So, I would say there isn't anyone who has cornered the market on "what's going on" today.

  • @greatbroad Crises are brought to us by goverment, so I would never trust them to solve it. And the govt. uses the crise to grow, but the sad part is that ppl allow them to grow.

I totaly agree that the bailouts is the biggest form of weath transfer. And the constitution doesnt even allow such a thing. And still ppl trust the goverment and wants to give them more power and take away more liberty by setting up regulations. I dont even trust Obama, he broke all his electionpromises in the 1 year

  • @Warzoooooo It doesn't matter who is president of the USA. It is a puppet show.

The US is a fascist country that has morphed the domestic police departments into military units, via Homeland Security Act. As far as I am concerned 9/11 was an inside job, used to usher in the Patriot Act and nail the coffin shut on our republic. Because of the Internet, some are educated enough to put a few bumps in their road.

-releasing the emails of those scientists about climate change is one example

  • @greatbroad And believe me, free health care ain't going to make things better. Rather the opposit. Many around the world thinks that we got the ultimate healthcare system in northern europe. And yes its the ultimate as long as one doesn't get sick. Even though i pay all these high taxes my healthcare is far away, and thei are acctually planing on moving it further away because everything thats free, is also scarce. So to keep cost down they offer less "free helthcare" all the time.

  • @greatbroad And if her statment was what if, then I can counter it with, what if it would have taken much more resources to keep it going and expanding it. Them the avarage american would have had lower standard of living becaus resources were beeing used for that rail-network. Its a bad if, if she haven't thought it through, as alot of her statments acctually are. And will she answer when you ask her about it, nope! I've tried but didn't recieve a answer.

  • General Motors not only did all it could to kill America's electric railway systems -- but, in the doing, probably killed itself. Without modal competition, GM and the other US automobile manufacturers got fat, sloppy, arrogant and careless. It didn't buy up and liquidate the transit lines because "it wanted to compete." It bought them up so it wouldn't have to do so. Predictably, this ultimately left it unable to compete, hung on its own corrupt hook, twisting slowly in the wind.

    Hilarious.

  • Great comment, 408knw!

  • No it wasn't. It completely ignores published facts, logic and common sense. It perpetuates a myth rather than actually offers any facts. I suppose that guy also thinks his Pinto will explode when his Toyota magically runs into the back of it!

  • Yes, don't let actual facts such as those by Cliff Slater and others get in the way of a good conspiracy theory.

  • @408knw your a tool

  • Sorry woman. GM did not work to kill street cars. They died a natural death. Try reading "General Motors and the Demise of Streetcars" by Cliff Slater.

  • The people of California won a their lawsuit against GM, Firestone and SoCal. It went all the way to the US Supreme Court. Maybe Cliff Slater has incomplete research.

To go for the kill, they lobbied to split Westinghouse from the streetcars, knowing full well they would be unsustainable.

  • That lawsuit was related to GM forcing GM owned bus line to buy GM build buses. They were guilty of that. However, that is NOT the same thing as GM trying to remove light rail. If you read the article I mentioned (A google search will find it and it is part of the Wikipeida entry on this subject) you will see the lawsuit was incorrectly tied to the loss of light rail by Snell and others. If GM with influence over 10% of the rail lines at best...

    cont in 2nd post:

  • was so powerful, how does it explain all the cities that dumped light rail for buses that we NOT made by GM and light rail lines not owned by GM that replaced their streetcars with buses?

Slater's article in Transporation Quarterly is about 20 pages and includes 122 references dating back to around WW1.

In the end streetcars died because at the time (and often even today) they are more costly and less flexible to operate than buses.

  • GM had at best an indirect interest in 10% of all streetcar lines. How did they kill the other 90%? Did they look at them funny? No. Streetcars died because people preferred to live in the suburbs and drive cars.

Read Slater's article. It will hopefully set you straight.

  • GM did not stop with the streetcars. But with the government watching and some minor public attention they were more careful with their next project. That was to get rid of the intercity mail trains which were half the income of the passenger rail carriers. Now the cost of fuel is one of the things killing the post office. I"m sure they are very active lobbying to keep passenger rail in the past.

  • Tesla - Free energy - Nikola Tesla - Alternative Energy - Wireless Electricity. Nikola Tesla invented the AC (alternating current) induction motor, ... Southern California Edison sued in court and won therefore making money on pattens. I was told the UFO's know about FREE Energy so the evil eltie don't want us to know about them.

  • Thanks, 55ella2007K. I make videos for my sanity. When I realized the media is not our friend - ignoring all the protest marches I've been in since 2002, I began getting myself in the newspaper. Then, someone introduced me to YouTube 2 years ago, but it took a while to get up the nerve to put my old, baggy mug on video. It helps my peace of mind to speak out, and thanks for your kind words.

  • Well the way our goverment has done things, it's pretty much failure by design.

Streetcars are also cheaper to operate than buses.

Simply put rail transport uses 1/7 the amount of energy of road transport.

Now why should railroads pay higher taxes for doing a better job?

  • The latest bailout package comes to $2.25 trillion, triple the size of the original $700 billion Amazingly the FED has been paying these bankers 188 billion a day all along

Altogether, the worlds markets over the past four weeks saw $11 trillion worth of assets wiped out. This sum corresponds to virtually the entire annual gross national product of the US, or the European Union.

    google: William Lindsey

US pumps over 1 billion cubic feet of natural gas back into the earth in Alaska

  • Wow, sugarpuddin88, I had no idea about the natural gas being pumped in. Where can I get a hold of this information?

  • Wm Lindsey - This is the most compelling video I ever saw in my life time!

    watch?v=oM_eUMkcsVs

  • I think it is Lindsey Williams. He wrote "Oil non crisis" and has been on the Alex Jones show a lot. Great character with amazing inside info. Your name, as they say, "Does what it says on the Tin" Love your style. I will subscribe.{Like it says in the song te he.}

  • i'm in

  • Since we seem to be stuck with gas cars for now--have you seen the Aptera and the Loremo?

The movie "who killed the electric car?" is pretty watchable, too.

And you might want to check out Thomas Bearden and Stev(ph?)en Greer's Disclosure Project online as well. The witness press conference is boring but truly informative.

  • Hi Greatbroad. Looks like you are a Ron Paul person after my own heart--want an open, honest and limited gov't, but really willing to look at the problems caused by concentrated ownership not causing all the wonderful innovation it is supposed to.

I found it a hard place to be in though, because it seems alot of our fellows take unrestrained ownership as a kind of fundamentalist religious faith.

  • I think that's where the saying comes from: Ignorance is Bliss

I read mystery books at night to clear the angst from my mind.

I call it my new religion: Futilitarianism. Doing the 'right thing' because it feels right inside my being - no matter what. It is lonely and sad, sometimes.

  • Things are hard and frustrating now, but sometimes "futility" is an illusion caused by our own lack of vision, not reality.

I sure know that lonely and sad feeling. Have you ever heard of Patricia Sun? She has some talks online I like. You might like her too.

  • That's right, not only oil co,'s, but tire co.'s as well. Maybe a National Oil Co that supplies all gov't needs.(incl. military) That's not socialism, but would have abig effect on oil & gas prices, and help our security. Drll baby drill only gives more control to oil co.'s with more free (actually subsidized) crude.

  • huh, didn't know that. I am from kansas city and i have read that there used to be a massive rail network all over the city, I always wondered what happened to it, I'll have to check out that book.

  • Thanks, citruc2! I'll check it out!

  • there's a real good video on this here on you tube, i have it in my favorites I'll see if I can find it and send it to you
