For my money, CLARENCE SPADY is the MUST see LIVE BLUES band on the East Coast. See The Band LIVE at The River Street JAZZ Cafe, in Wilkes Barre, Pa. or
Terra Blues, NYC.
We loved him at Buddy Guy's Legends in Chicago. The man is smokin' on Guitar!
I had the honor & privilage of drumming for Clarence @ River St. Jazz Cafe on 6/2/04, when his reg drummer was ill & I got called in. Prior to this, I never even heard of him, but my girlfriend @ the time said that he was excellent. His musianship, professionality, & kindness were overwheaLMING. he treated me like 1 of the band, not a "sub drummer". It was a wonderful performance & night!
I saw Clarence there at River Street with my wife and I think it was best night of live music in my life. We didn't want the night to end and I couldn't wait to shake his when the night was over.
If you ever EVER get a chance to experience it, do so.
pure. plain & simple. complete and to the point. chills and it aint even cold today!! thanx for the vid guess we r few and far between fans. love it!!!!
This is a player whom I have been watching live for 15 years. There are very few guitar players who can capture the soul of the moment the way Clarence Spady plays. I have followed his career closely, seen him live too many times to count, and am blown away every time. From Page to SRV and everyone in between, I have seen them all. Spady stands tall in the company of these much more well known players, and on pure talent and soul should be a national attention. A real blessing to watch.
The casualness with which he can play so amazingly is indicative of very, very deep and ingrained, soulful blues - born into it, lives deep in it,as real as it f**king gets - Not sure I could stand the pain to earn the right to play this way.
Clarence is the real deal. Saw him Aug 2011 at Terra Blues NYC. I am now a huge fan!
