I LOOVVVVEE this clip. its always been my top 5 memorable n most favored moments on the Roseanne show!! i miss this show so much, grew up watching every single episode. awesome reliving the experience again now!
Delaney and Bonnie had hippest funkiest R&B band of the late sixties...everyone wanted some of the action including Leon Russell; Delaney gave Clapton the confidance to sing.....he ended up with D&B's band and recorded 'Layla'.
I don't know if you guys know this, but Bonnie was a backup singer with Ike & Tina Turner for years. The first white "Ikette". She also wrote "Never Ending Song of Love"
i was 15 when i first seen this episode and heard this song i had chills run down my spin when i heard and im 28 now and i still get chills this is an incredible women singing a powerful song.. i love it and will always injoy roseanne and this episode
You can find it listed under "Scenes form a barbecue" too. Brings tears to my eyes every time. No clue why, but it does. She was also part of a group called Delaney & Bonnie. I have a song called "Come on in my kitchen" Not as powerful as here, but interesting.
@sodpoo For screams & shouts that give me chills, listen to That's What My Man is For & Where There's a Will, There's a Way from On Tour with Eric Clapton album; and Wade in the River Jordan from D & B, Together album. For thrilling vocals by Delaney, try Miss Ann from To Bonnie from Delaney album; and the Little Richard Medley from the On Tour album. Come on in My Kitchen is the opposite end of the D&B spectrum, but true to their roots.
@mrcallahan50 Awesome! Thank you so much for the suggestions! I'll start searching! I admit I didn't know much about them. A few clips here. Plan to expand my search areas! ;)
I have been trying to find this clip for the last few years, thanks for posting it. I first saw her perform this song back in the 80's on Rosanne, when Iwas about 16yrs, and it has always stayed with me, so great to hear her dynamic voice again. A great blast from the past, fanxs.
i'm a huge roseanne fan, and this performance ALWAYS takes my breath away, no matter how many times i watch it. bonnie has such an amazing voice with so much soul in it, it sends shivers up and down my spine!
I absolutely love this segment. Bonnie Bramlett's voice is just amazing! Every time I watch this I get chills. I have never heard a version of this song that I liked better than this one! It is not easy to sing acapella and sound good, not only does she do it but she makes it look effortless. When you listen to her sing this song, you don't just hear it you feel it, you experience it, and you miss it when it is over.
I remember seeing this as a young young kid, like 6 years old, and being literally blown away. 19 years later and it still has this effect. Possibly one of the most soul full performances I have ever had the pleasure to see. Awesome upload, thanks!
I have seen the entire Roseanne series many times and every time this episode comes on I get so excited knowing this moment is coming up...this one scene made this my favorite episode. Thanks for posting this!
I hear ya and completely concur. Her voice shocked me and you're right,... the cast mates were as shocked as we were. I've always loved a strong voice & she blew me away! I'm glad you appreciated the post and replied, it gives me comfort to know that I'm not alone in feeling moved by this performance :-)
I absolutely love this episode! Bonnie Bramlett has the most amazing voice! I have never heard a version of this song that I like better! Every time I watch this, I get chills. It is not easy to sing acapella and sound good, not only does she do just that but she makes it look so easy. When you watch this video, you don't just listen to her sing, you feel it down deep. When it is over you miss it. She is simply awesome and amazing,
@TAZ27591 Well they're actors after all and they can pretend to be shocked convincingly. They grew up in her era and would have known she could belt out a song with the best of 'em. If now beofre she joined the show at least after the word would have got out the big names she sang with.
I STILL get goose bumps when I hear her sing this! To hear a soulful song like this on a "comedy" show really had an element of surprise. Having her cast mates look at her with open-jawed awe really drove the point home. Thanks for posting this!
wow!i can't believe someone put this on youtube.I remember seeing this episode years ago.best version of this song I've ever heard.I love that bitch!!
She takes a BITE out of this song. The power of her voice crosses all barriers. It is impossible not to feel something, when she hits that first "but I need to" and then "you do me wrong now". You can feel it in your gut. Actually, I could put the entire vocal in quotations- as there is not a single word that does not deserve mention. Where is that kind of sound now? No such thing.
I tried for years to capture this song. Finally, after numerous DVR recordings...I caught the right episode and was able to post it. It had the same effect on me as it did you! WOW! What a voice and what a feeling for this song!
@TAZ27591 She has actually recorded it and you can buy it, but it's no where near as good cuz the backing singings don't give it a break. What does a woman with a voice like that need backing singers for?
She killed this damn song, Im glad I found it here, I only watch Rosanne to find this episode, great job, damn she sends the chills, even the cast was shocked, damn lady Sing.....
I seen this when it origanally aired. awesome it blowed my mind. thanks for posting this clip I love her rendition of this song, I would def. buy a cd of it
you know it's 20 years since I saw this on british TV but i've never forgotten. I just found it and played it to my husband and he says he never even knew she was on TV but oh what a song, what a voice.
That's why I had to post it. I've never heard this song sung with such soul and emotions. She & He can't get close to this kind of emotions. I'm really glad you liked it. :-).
