If you look closer, you can see the umpire about to throw a flag, probably for holding. If you're the ball carrier and you see an umpire ahead of you about to flag your offense would you run him over to make him forget who was holding? Try and pause @ 0:08 you can see the flag in his hand. He's trying to throw it and Duckett is going, "Oh, no you DON'T! BOOM! No holding call by you!"

@MTSUman2009 The side judges cant see the blocks of the interior linemen. Plus the Umpire's main job is game pace and management. The Umpire HAS to get to the ball quick, and spot it. Plus get to the pile to protect the players. While dangerous, it is the best position for the Umpire, especially in hurry up situations.
