To understand my "Ran" comparison at 3:00 (see my earlier comment), you should check out the Youtube movie "Ran" and fast forward to 2:37:49 to see the scene in Ran that uses a similar mise-en-scène method of making the view slightly nervous showing people teetering at the edge of a high wall, but in terms of emotions the two scenes could not be much more different than they already are.

3:00 - my favorite scene .. reminiscent of Kurasawa films. I imagine these kids making a cameo at the very end of "Ran" after the shaded form of the blind flutist is shown in extreme isolation at the edge of the castle wall in all his loneliness. Then the kids with their brain dance to slap the audience out of their war-horror-induced coma of depressed concentration.
