  • yeah..since i quit XD

  • Now that I quit... I can have one.

I love people who can highlight how beautifully childish we can be

  • Ron Perlman and Tom Waits are in fact the same person, but they split in two back in 1975. Tom was the original.

  • Losers. Both of their brains are fried. Would rather listen to other people who have something to say.

  • @fineali i'd expect that from someone who listens to as much pop as you do

  • That's so great!

  • Great scene, love the hawaiian music from the jukebox.

  • this kind of makes me want a cigarette and a cup of coffee..

  • I would loveto have a cup of coffee with tom and iggy. A fear it would be awkward though.

  • iggy looks freaked out !!!, either he is tripping or tom is about to stab him

  • Classic.

  • jim rides a bike

  • There's some working chemistry between those two to play it off like they did.

  • I love this scene, this is like one of my favourite movie moments. Iggy and Tom's natural carisma just fly so fuckin high :-D

  • @blacknganga

fuckin a, he's a douchebag prick. I want to really hurt him like shoot him in the head with a rifle.

  • @thundertower Why are you a fan of the Ig?

  • The funny thing about them referencing Abbott & Costello wanting pie and coffee all the time is that they shilled for cigarettes on their radio shows

  • Iggy is the shit!!

  • "I didn't see anything of yours on the jukebox." Nice. LOL

  • "Yeah. Call me Iggy."

    "Sorry I'm late Jim."

  • This movie was pretty good, it's too bad it never really made any waves.

  • Now that we've quit! I love this arguement.

  • yeh...im a doctor...

  • Since i quit...

  • its awesome that tom waits is actually a pretty damn good actor

  • increible, c & c, la mejor escena de una pelicula espectacular.

    10

  • These two are both made of awesomness incarnate!!!!!

  • 1993 American Caesar and Bone Machine

  • @calibam2045 American Caesar- very fucking good music.

  • Tom Waits: for people who missed the seventies and know nothing about rock/popular music.

  • @blacknganga Please sir, enlighten us with your "extensive" and "amazing" musical knowledge. That is, when you have the time to put down Guitar Hero and get out of your mother's basement.

  • @TheChrisTheory Say something more charming, why would I engage you in conversation with that? I have some musical knowledge, but usually only talk music with people over 25, because most young people bore me.

  • @blacknganga shut up ya old faggot

  • @PrimeDiesel1 Why thank you darling! You've charmed the pants off me with your short talk, I shall now blow a wad as a sort of "testicle vestibule" in reverence of your recent comment. Tom Waits: for rednecks and children.

  • Tom Waits has the sort of skull structure that, to me, suggests genetic inbreeding.

  • Iggy looks so sad in so many shots -_-

  • @mashitup08ebony He's sad because he is appearing on a film with Waits who is cultural parasite. Iggy= legend. Waits= unimportant to popular music history.

  • wow. i love this

  • Tom waits ripped off one or two great musician's styles from popular music history. I can understand Iggy has to pay the bill's, and this piece shows him in his true light as a humble and ingenius man. The matching of waits and Pop though, does shed doubt on the "legendary" status of the latter's post '74 performance/albums. Don Van Vliet, however was and always will be an "absolute" legend.

  • Wonderful and hilarious.

  • I wish I was Tom Waits.

  • Hee hee... Brilliant!

  • ya know, the beauty of quiting, is now that I've quit, I can have one.

  • It's Okay to have a cigarette if you quit...lolololol

great dialogue between to of the best!

  • like i dont smoke, or not a major fan of coffee, but after watching this, im fucking keen

  • This is like an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm directed by David Lynch.

  • @ThePrismer Ahhahahahahaha. Perfect description!

  • That is gold

  • this is so weird

  • Man I miss smoking at a diner, you cant even smoke a cigarette at the bar anymore in N.J and in NYC people look at you funny when you smoke outside. And alot of this film was shot around 1993 but got released 10 years later

  • Iggy pop gets uglier everytime I see him

  • I love that sly look he gives Iggy when he says that line about kicking his smoking habit.

  • I love it!!!

  • I feel like Tom Waits belongs on a black and white screen..

  • @TheSyfio dude, vote up, i was thinking the same thing, right on man

  • @TheSyfio lol..

  • The faces of Iggy are priceless!!!

  • two giants fight for "coolness". thanks jim.

  • hahahahaha thes choir boys pussies hahahahahahahahaha

  • @RealMan4Life1 hehe let me introduce joseph, he is a gay citizen and no i'm not gay, beware he is one crazy homo who likes to bite little kids penis

  • @11joshman hahahahahaha stil playur hatin lik a choir boy hahahahahahahahahahah

  • "If you don't like it here, maybe we could go down to Taco Bell"

    LOL

  • It was a medical morning

  • anyone know if giant robo is a real drummer?

  • Tom's facial expressions are feckin' awesome.

  • Tom Waits

  • "...we could go down to Taco Bell, maybe that's more your style..." ROFL

  • I could listen to Waits talk and talk and talk forever, about anything, just as long as he was talking. Divine voice. D-I-V-I-N-E.

  • Best. Cult movie. Ever!!!!

  • iggy pop is scared of tom waits...

  • @harrisongsrule

Everyone is scared of tom waits a little bit, apart from Tom Waits.

  • @blackblackgrey Oh, i'm sure tom waits is more scared of tom waits than anyone else

  • Love it, but god night)

  • I have to find this movie somewhere. Tom Waits talking about being a doctor is hilarious.

  • @UnDeadGamers Tom Waits shoulda been the next Dr. Who. Only thing is, he'd be performing tracheotomies with the sonic screwdriver on the side of the road. Having one of those medical mornings when the TARDIS breaks down, you know.

  • @bongrocker

Really? Huh... He can play any occupation and he'll still be a character. He awakens any opertune moment and makes it unforgettable. He the very reason I got Doctor Parnassus.

  • @minespatch Check out the youtube video you get when you search Tom Waits The Piano Has Been Drinking. It's the one that's live on Fernwood Tonight. My god, that shit is just pure genius. 1977.

  • @bongrocker

Already seen it back a few months ago. It is genius. I think I saw that before "No one Waits For Tom"...

  • Tom's hair.. Just wow

  • well since i quit...

  • im so glad i found this movie in my aunt's attic!

  • God, it kills me how hilariously awkward this whole scene is.

It's perfect, really is the best part of the movie.

  • @mrfudgeyhead Hello , do you know about some good films like this ? Some typs ? Cult films like Donnie Darko , Coffee and Cigarettes.....Answer me please

  • @SlayerSlayers Some good ones I like are: Clerks Rushmore The Royal Tenenbaums (not sure if it's cult, but definitly one of my favorite independant films) The Shining The Road Warrior Reservoir Dogs The Rocky Horror Picture Show Taxi Driver Repo Man (A strange one that is pretty much only good if your high, otherwise it's just kind of a random bundle of crap) Monty Python and The Holy Grail Pulp Fiction Little Shop Of Horrors Blade Runner Vanishing Point The Big Lebowski Office Space
  • @SlayerSlayers Eraserhead, Brazil, Trainspotting, A Clockwork Orange. I am a huge fan of low-budget independent horror films, I don't know if you're into that but Troma makes some of my favorites like Sgt. Kabukiman, Toxic Avenger, Rabid Grannies. Also the Evil Dead Trilogy is always good. Directors I would advise you to check out are, David Lynch, Terry Gilliam, Wes Craven (the more obscure films like People Under the Stairs,) Martin Scorcese, and Stanley Kubrick.

  • @vansrok1 Let us not forget Class of Nuke 'Em High. A sure fire way to scare off a potential girlfriend.

  • @MUSICLOVEROK Ha totally, a great movie though. I think Troma's goal is to make a movie unwatchable

  • i love this scene, very good movie classic

  • that the same table from that waits video i dont wanna grow up?

  • @edgarallanpony Thats exactly what I told my friend while we were watching this.

  • does iggy say what's the name of the drummer?

  • tom seems to be kind of a jerk face to iggy in this. it works though. funny stuff.

  • The beautiful steel guitar songs on the jukebox are by Jerry Byrd.

  • Más feos que peerse en misa, pero me ponen burraco

  • ...........

  • Tom is sounding like Joe Pesci in Goodfellas, haha. And I thought that Iggy was the badass.

  • LOL - life has taken it's toll on these two.

    LMAO!

  • my dream date...

  • I like this muchbetter than ??? CLUE FAC

  • Great short. Actually Jarmusch shot this around '92, released it to festivals. Then he made more shorts on this topic and strung them together as a feature in '03. I'd love to see more films with these two guys; they're almost like a classic comedy team here.

  • Tom has got to be the most entertaining straightman in comedy history.

  • @Dresh7 Oh, okay, that makes sense. Waits and Iggy did seem to look a lot younger than they did in '03.

  • I'm trying to quit smoking but obviously I can't. I got pharyngitis now :(

This scene makes me laugh and reminds me how difficult is quitting smoking.

  • nice

  • dude coffee at ihop IS good! btw what type of marlboros you think they got there? i'm guessing reds

  • @masteroreality

definitely golds - its a blond, not a redhead

  • couldn't tell since it's in black and white

  • So you've got nothing to worry about then.......Tom and Iggy have done alright....onwards and upwards!

  • Iggy is my role model bitches...

  • Wow. That was wonderfully awkward (not to mention awkwardly wonderful). Painful to watch but blanking great! I cringed all the way through and loved every minute of it. I quit smoking three years ago so that made it even better. I could taste the coffee AND the cigarettes.

  • I love it how bitchy Tom Waits is towards Iggy Pop!

  • "It was a medical morning." I love that.

  • I like how nervous Iggy is. It makes me giggle.

  • ha, ha: my boyfriend and i are trying to quit smoking. It's a lot like in this video.

"Well, i mean- now that we've QUIT, we can just, HAVE one, you know?"

Ah, the little things we try and justify to ourselves.

  • I hear you.. have coffee with Tom Waits and you're left depressed and smoking again! Poor Iggy is a sweet guy though.

  • Call me Iggy.

    Ok, Jim.

  • I'm Crazy for about 99% of Tom Wait's work.

  • Coffee and cigarettes - this is a combination! Also this two guys. Awesome stuff!

  • Grate work bro 5***** I like this video XD

  • Iggy's got a sweet jacket.

  • Tom Waits is such a fascinating person. He's so abrasively charming. Very Cool.

  • To bad we have to go out side and smoke now days.

  • Yeah, a shame you're required to smoke in an area where people who don't choose to suck ash don't have to choke on tobacco smoke.

  • It ought to be the choice of the owner of the establishment whether smoking indoors is permitted or not.

  • @Agitpropist I don't even smoke and I agree with this. You own it, you make the rules.

  • yeah it sucks by the time I turn 21 there will be no reason for me to go out to the bar since smoking is banned in all bars in Wisconsin starting next year... I'll just sit in my apartment with my cigarettes and my alcohol haha

  • 10/4 on the smokes comment I know ware you are comming from!

  • Tom Waits has such a nice voice.

  • - "you call me Iggy"

    - "look, sorry i'm late Jim"

    LMAO

  • @brewcrew01984 "My friends, they all call me Jim. Ummm, call me Iggy."

  • Fucking awesome.

  • "Music and medicine, really."

  • this clip is so amazing.. love everything! the atmosphere.. cinematography is beautiful.

both of them legends! and they have such great chemistry between them! They really brought out the awkwardness perfectly! It's feels almost cringy but you just cant stop watching!

I must say I think Tom gave a bit better performance.. he felt more real and natural, you could feel Iggy acting a little.. but great clip!

but.. don't EVER watch this if you're out of ciggies.. it will drive you INSANEEEE! hehe

  • Haha, I'll keep that in mind. I plan on watching it, but I only have 4 cigarettes left.

  • haha try quiting and then running into this while only on the fourth day of quiting, it is driving me nuts, i keep finding reasons why I should smoke.

  • coffee n' cigarettes perfect combination... :))

  • Yeah it really is. If it could be my meal everyday I would be okay.

  • Wow, I can't believe that it took me this long to find this. Awesome.

  • brilliant

  • 6:59 !!! the way he says "oh yeah"...

  • Look at 3.30 and compare with the famous Tom Cruise "pfffuuiittt" interview !

Could it be that actually Tom Cruise is indeed more fucked up than Iggy Pop ? I believe so.

  • which interview do you mean?

  • Hahaha..Iggy's facial expressions in this are hilarious! Love it!

  • This is PRICELESS!! Thanks for posting!!

  • I love this fucking movie. The whole thing is so chill.

  • 5:06 :D funny stuff!

  • anybody know what song is playing on the jukebox?

  • what year did was this scene filmed?

  • Waits looks like the guy from hellboy

  • Ron Perlman? Yeah, I've always thought that they resemble each other.

  • wow. somebody else noticed! and what about Jeff Goldblum and Allen Ginsberg anyone?

  • Oh, absolutely. Without the beard, of course.

  • i love them both....weird & special...i enjoy their songs...music a lots....

  • Two of my heroes.

  • bill... ghostbustin' ass... groundhog's day murray!

  • haha man if i saw tom waits and iggy pop hanging out at a coffee shop i'd have a fucking heart attack. i'd sit down and just start blabbing my mouth off about the progression of the blues band and iggy on punk and glam rock and what kind of cigarettes they liked and what they drank, and their opinion on counterculture in the 60s on up and all that shit. man i bet after jarmusch said "cut" they just started having a sweet conversation.

  • "since i quit i can have one" :D

iggy looks a lot alike John Cazale

  • Tom Waits has aged a lot since this was filmed. Iggy on the other hand hasn't aged since about 1980.

  • he was already as old as man gets, i think

  • HAHAHAH its so true

  • Man I am so happy I have found this. I first saw this about 5/6 yeas ago. I was home alone late one night, stoned off my head and this short movie came on. I could hardly remember any of it other than Iggy Pop and Tom Waits were in it and it was funny as hell. Fucking great.
