Second, why is there a need to make room? It's about understanding someone's belief system. Not incorporating its teachings into yours. Islam teaches complete tolerance to people of other faiths.

@ExtantFrodo There is no punishment for leaving Islam. The punishment of death applies when you leave Islam and you start to work against the interests of Islam. Obviously if you stopped being my friend, I'd be like "Okay, cool." However, if you started doing stuff to harm me afterwards, I'd be sure to take care of you. Do you understand?

I know Muhammad (virtually), the bro who wants shoe wearing Muslims ejected from the Mosque. Even though I am a progressive and he is Salafi, I support him standing his ground on this issue because I don't think there can be genuine dialogue without mutual respect.

@julaybib I totally agree, i also knew Shaikh Muhammad (virtually), most of Muslims there however are modest, but the main issue now is the total disregard and ignorance of religious presence there, much is distorted about the original project goal of coexistence and tolerance based on "authentic Islamic principles". There are recent restrictions even on the new library, that put the project into a limbo, no events related to AL Andalus anymore, no encouragement. All in the name of "democracy".

Mathalu ma yunfiqoona fee hathihi alhayati alddunya kamathali reehin feeha sirrun asabat hartha qawmin thalamoo anfusahum faahlakathu wama thalamahumu Allahu walakin anfusahum yathlimoona

English:

What they spend in the life of this (material) world May be likened to a wind which brings a nipping frost: It strikes and destroys the harvest of men who have wronged their own souls: it is not Allah that hath wronged them, but they wrong themselves.
