  • you didn't listen to Paul @all, suckerhead.

  • oh BULLCRAP, hongdekong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Pink Floyd was a revolutionary music/multi media endeavor founded by Syd Barrett in the mid-1960s.

Pink Floyd was a 1970s "super band" that played stadiums and mostly boring fm music.

  • @ClubsOfHearts dude, in the 70's they made fantastic music: echoes? time? seamus? and yeah on the run is really something you'd here on the radio.

Here they just didn't really know how to plat, except nick...

  • Double Bass Drums in the 60's !!!!

  • This was the first Pink Floyd song I learned to play back in the 80's when I just was starting to learn how to play.

  • please subtitles in spanish!!! please please me!!!

  • don't look like there was much of a turn-out punter wise! .... or were the rest of them spaced out at the back, out of camera?

  • Who is the piece of dung who keeps postin beatles,floyd---BOGUS CRAP. My name is Dave and you bogus bastards can reach me at dbayyz@yahoo.com. Lets meet so I can rip u 2 shreds.

  • this is a classic!

  • I can dance like that. Why? - Because I am a good dancer

  • heavy

  • I was living about 12 miles away at the time, and even though I knew their stuff I didnt get to go to this

  • I love the dude with the business suit, slicked back hair, and mustache.. that guy knows how to party!

  • Far out

  • This is not a regulalar gig at the Blarney Club, it was set up to camera for a German TV documetary. Mostly associates of Yoofo and international Times.

  • Fantastic syd was a great inovator and a important part in floyds creation

  • @rooster1236 ....Man, you are quite the historian! Where in the world did you ever get that idea? You're really going out on a limb with your breaking news coverage...

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland .Wasent trying to make old news there are people out there who don,t know the roots. This cant be so with such a exspert on floyd

  • The funniest thing is, people only sit in awe at more recent Floyd, Waters or Gilmour concerts!

  • well said, paul

  • Damned them zippy little hippies, socked it to us!

  • Wish I could get whatever ever they were taking!! More than likely LSD! Where is that shit in London lol

  • nick is incredible here!

  • The music sounded better back then with more basic equipment. Love it, Love Floyd, Do not love the fact I was born in the wrong era!!

  • I put on this song on a school bale and danced my ass of solo with great jubelations!

  • dancing at this tune is like headbanging along the muppet show theme song xaxaxaxaxaxa

  • Almost sounds like a threatening swarm of bees.

  • alguien me puede traducir lo que dice McCartney please.

  • Paul McCartney?

  • ppl that were there dancing, dont remember of anything

  • Who knew people danced to Pink Floyd? This is so SICK and I LOVE IT!

  • I wonder if that was the Beatle's dentist dancing like a freak--a -zoid after he "accidentally" dropped more acid ....into his own tea for a change.

  • @DaDa2Phlux ..Ah yes, good ol' Doctor Robert. "He'll bring you up when feeling down"..The thing I love is the guys that are dressed in suits and ties like they just got off of work and thought this was a new spot for "happy hour?" "Ummm, I'll have a pint of Bass ale and some purple microdot L....Oh, you're out of the purple?...OK, let's go with some yellow sunshine or maybe window pane, surprise me!" I wonder how many mcg where in doses back then? Gotta be much higher than the standard 100mcg.

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland Bartender - A Harp & three peyote buttons please !

  • @AvirtualSwitzerland look it up on errowid.com when they took one dose that is equal to about 3 1/2 of what you get today! thats why the 60's were psychedelic

  • Damn, didn't know Floyd could be PUNK!

  • You gotta be kidding me! Where the F is SYD? All these dancing girl getting the action, and Syd is hidden in a corner.

  • Seems like all my favorite bassists wear nerdy glasses at one time ro another, Burke Shelley, Geddy Lee, and now even Roger Waters LOL.

  • I don't think this was shot at the UFO club. It seems too sparse and well lit. The UFO was always packed, had low ceilings, and I don't think it had windows considering it was in a basement.

  • 2:34--2:40 :D

  • people used to dance to this??? niiice.... i wouldnt of though.. probably would of been somewhere near the stage smokin herb and jammin...

  • Macca and the early PF in one single video. Wow!

  • syd's guitar playing and sound is so good. i love that super bright fuzz telecaster sound.

  • freaking wild,alittle like a dead show,w/different music

  • Must have been awesome being there.

  • the way I see this is ; it is no more like the punk thing I went through in the '80s, I see people enjoying themselves, or at least the ones brave enough to dance.!!!±!!!, every generation has the same sort of times,,,,,, people have fun,,, yes FUN,,,,it is allowed even in this miserable day and age,,,, have FFFFUUUUNNNN....

  • I love how Paul just pops in. Like "Hey mates, filming something? Mind if I say a few words? I wanna test out this new moustache, see." And you know no one was gonna say "No" to Paul fucking McCartney.

  • Strangely, these people look exactly like some of the characters that are walking around today!

  • It's Syd's birthday--everybody take a trip.

  • lol at the guy at 0:20

  • A YouTube highlight. Worth logging in to see this.

  • Syd the absolute bright light.

  • Actually the first shoegazing band

  • Looks like a mosh pit full of commuters!

  • @TheAdironDoc Cynical. Easy to be a donkey.

  • Hey, man...the color keeps fading in and out

  • Viva la vita

  • dig the far out cat in the suit ! He's lucky to have that hippie chick around .

    Fab gear and all !

  • I was a freshman in highschool in '67. Reminds me of some great dances, and great bands back then.

  • Great film clip! And though I love Paul McCartney, his little monologue at the end, well, just LOL! Must have been fun back in the day!

  • Imagine how high you'd have to be to "dance" around like that without feeling a complete tool.

  • acid dance...far out!

  • @Zodist yager and everything else

  • Interstellar overdrive and astronomy domine.. 2 of my favorites.

It would have been magnific to be there to see them play and also to see all those lights and interesting stuff despite there were pathetic people too. ^-^

It´s sad that things ended up in such chaotic way, nice decade though

  • Cool! Thank you

  • You know that London is speaking again?

  • LoL that goofy guy with the dork glasses and moustache is awesome

  • Would be so awesome to have seen that...

And the new youtube interface looks awesome..

  • the music is abstract.....

  • damn i wish I was alive back then

  • @311FanTsk

Absofreakinlutely FanTsk. I would do anything to be in the time when these guys were breaking out. Just absolutely mind blowing.

  • @311FanTsk it kinda sucks im 13 soo i missed it by about 31 years but at least im not 66

  • @joewalshinjamesgang ...Yeah kiddo, but based on De-Evolution (DEVO) alone, can you imagine the music that you'll be stuck with when you are 66? Good luck, Sporty.

  • how in th heck can you dance to this ordered chaos? ouch.

  • @pamaspamas how?..from the core of yourself....free & WiLd...

  • 2:45 LBJ as Hitler, LOL!

  • the ufoclub didn't have so many memebers but was an underground pub

during the mid sixties that played exclusively to floyd however the beatles

were said to hang there on numerous occasions

  • cokenchips,thats a shite thing to say.SHITE.

  • Punk floyd?

  • God Bless Syd and Rick we will always love you

  • Pink Floyd wrote "Dogs".

  • I could just imagine the amount of drugs consumed here.

  • acid!

  • acid!

  • The guy with glasses moustache and suit is the coolest and i love the fact that paul mccartney appears at the end

  • yeaah , como tripiaban el acido en los 60's con pink floyd, la musica psicodelica, era como la musica trance, electronica, de aquel tiempo. I love pink floyd

  • love youuuuu

  • kool vid. Was that John Cleese as Paul

  • ncredible news. The BFI has only unearthed some of those thought to be wiped and lost forever TOTP episodes from 1967, and yes one has Syd's PF on TOTP performing (lip-synch) See Emily Play. They are showing these at the South Bank in Jan. 2010 so hopefully they might get booted and this piece of treasure will be up on the internet soon.

  • Wow I would LOVE to have hung out at UFO

  • i did

  • AWESOME! Tottenham Court Road, was it? Big outside staircase w/lights?

  • Amazing song and footage. This is my fav Floyd song. Long live Floyd.

  • It's sooo badass they made this when they did!

  • missmiscellanea ur such a smart arse are u what a tool

  • paul's statement about pink floyd's music was so very correct

  • So very way ahead!

  • I went to this club every week

  • Interesting to have a testimonial here. Could you please write a book (or a passage) about your experiences? I would like to know how it was in there. Or did you forget everything when you were inside the club?

  • thanx for the info "77"...i'll mark that down...

  • Interstellar Overdrive to be complete in the title...

  • Noted and added. Thank you sir.

  • Paul's so cute here! <3

  • only ten people in audience cool!!

  • Lol the dancer s are out of sync.

  • Wow, look at those people dancing...COOL!

  • Fartownsend you obviously didn't meet them.

  • They had some seriously weird dance moves back then- 1:37. Looks kinda fun, actually. haha.

It's so weird hearing Macca talking about the Floyd. I know they both heavily influenced each other, and they recorded a room apart, but they've always been in different universes in my mind. Five of my favorite people in one video.

  • Fertownsend,

You think Macca is a God? Oh dear! oh dear.

    Have you met them?

    I think not.

A god indeed. what a plank you are.

Your opinion of George doesn't even deserve a comment.

    Should your name be Fartownsend?

  • "Dave Mason"? 2daft4u, if you can't even get the names right, I don't think you call anyone a "tosser".

  • Strange really what happens to your brain after too much excess in life, of course it's Nick Mason, I'm sure he would forgive me. A pure 'mindslip'.

However the fact remains that P.M. is a tosser if you never met him just watch the interviews on you tube, these will speak for themselves,

The joke was that he wanted to call the song 'I Love Me' not 'She Loves You' !!!!!!!

Ah well enough banter, back to my 'Life if Riley'

  • I think that "excess" has addled your brain in many other ways. I've seen plenty of the interviews, thank you.

  • How trite of you, you imbecile!

Were you wanking when you watched the interviews? You should have paid more attention to his stupid vain words.

You know nothing of my excesses or my successes you bounder.

Anyhow this is about Floyd and not your obsession for the inferior 'cutie' Beatle.

You are obviously a homosexual and have a secret desire for PM

Probably a Cliff Richard fan too. Which one spink indeed, I think I hear your mummy calling she has some Linda Mac sausages for your tea. Enough!

  • Wow. I'm not sure how to respond to that. I've said a whole three sentences to you, and you come up with that. I don't see why I'm an imbecile because I think he writes good songs.

By the way- I'm a girl, you jackass.

  • Well that says it all.

If I'd have known that you a girl / (A female child). I would not have replied to you at all .

  • That stereotype (of all young people being idiots, that is) grows tiresome, it really does.

I don't know why it's so hard for you to accept that I'm capable of appreciating good songwriting even though I haven't been in existance as long as you have.

  • Waw, I've never thought that Pink Floyd was actually dancing group in 1967

  • Other than places like UFO and Middle Earth, the heavy tour circuit in the UK were mainly Ballrooms where people didn't move much. The Upper Cut in Woodgrange Rd, Forest Gate, East London was a great venue where groups like Syd;s PF could as Nick said "Let loose a bit"

  • my God, I'd kill for a time machine :(

  • this song is genus i feel liike a plethra of a simi self proclaimed sudo intelectual

  • HERE HERE

  • Clearer video than* found elsewhere.

  • Why did Paul McCartney look so different after 1966?

  • Because people age.

  • no, after 67. It was that he finally took acid like the rest of the Beatles. Had to grow a moustache to block out the world. ;-p

  • Paul grew a moustache to cover the scars while he was healing from the surgery he had after his moped accident. Since they were into the unity thing at the time the other three grew moustaches too. They decided the look fit in well with the Sgt. Pepper theme. Then everybody in the world grew moustaches.

You can see Paul with his chipped tooth and fat lip in the Rain and Paperback Writer videos.

  • Sweetie, I'm as big a Beatle fan as you could possibly track down. I was merely trying to make crack a joke. Wow, fun facts! I've read quite a lot of Beatle-books but this I didn't know. Thanks for sharing. :-)

  • I've read Beatles books too, honey, but a lot of these things I just know because I was a teen-ager in the 60's and I remember when they happened. Have a nice day.

  • Jesus, can't you guys reqognize a lame joke when you see one? Don't take everything so seriously.

  • paul is the walrus nice stash too coo coo ca chooo

  • I think that's my grandad dancing with the glasses on...

  • The man with the glasses. Well he helped make the ambience and atmosphere of that time. He was there and alot here weren't. So it's bad luck, we lose.

  • The master at the height of his powers.

  • interstellar overdive

  • lucky people, i wish i was there =/

anyone agree with me that syd is (or was) the perfect man?

    at least for me :D

  • most definately..and he came from Gods own Cambridge..Yes many agree with you and he played his last ever concert in front of the Guild Hall Cambridge England...A very sad day

  • I was in Cambridge at the time. I remember seeing the fly posters (in the Red House record shop) but didn't make it to the gig. If I'm not mistaken, the band was called Starz and featured Twink from the Pink Faeries. I have a vague recollection that the gig didn't actually take place.

  • puta que debe haber sido lindo vivir esa época wn oh... y ver cómo se gestaba esta maravilla llamada pink floyd

  • i give million pounds to hit that dancefloor, and pull one of those chicks,

  • KroMagnum60. You're right about the splicing. The John Lennon footage would be at the Alexandra Palace in North London in Spring/Summer 1967. Yoko would not of been on the scene together with John at this time. At least with Syd still performing with the Floyd. There could also be some of the Powys Square, All Saints Church, Notting Hill, in some of the complete original footage.

  • 4:10 ...

  • Hoffman gave us LSD and then the Floyd took over from there.

  • damn strat

  • very very nice fantastic 5 stars for you*****

  • I would give up 10 years of my age to of seen this and the Powys Square Free School, and Middle Earth gigs. My cousin saw Syd and even though he loved Blues and Soul he rated Syd, bigtime. Oh halcyon days.

  • I'd give up many years of my life to see this at the time of it happening.

  • haah me also

  • Gave birth to Sgt. Peppers!

  • this song gives me chills.

    ^-^

  • Love this version of Overdrive. Is it all UFO? I thought it was literally underground on Tottenham ct road. Yet here I'm sure I see windows sometimes in the background.

  • Good question.

    Feedback always welcome.

My original source for this snippet said UFO Club.

Seems it may have taken place in more places and spliced together.

I think this vidoe was actually longer for a TV show. I've seem other footage here on You Tube where John and Yoko arrive.

This piece I have here I think was the very beginning of this feature.

  • @KroMagnum60 what was the title of the documentary released before syd broke down

  • @buewgewstmeiers

Good question. I did some research and most likely the said documentary was started before they all headed to the US for the DIck Clark American bandstand thing. A lot of BBC documentaries are lost forever. It is said that BBC recorded over and over many tapes. Not backing up and making dupicate copies.

    Keep searching.

  • @KroMagnum60 way to go english turds!

  • I love the early Pink Floyd! when they were with Syd... this is the scaryness (in a good way) classic of psychedelic! Paul McCartney is another GOD in another hand of this video. gosh, too many gods in this video hahaha Xd

  • where is paul mccartney in this video

  • At the very end, but it cuts off as this is all the footage I have.
