So if you were raised as a pitcher then how do you stop the wobbley passes? Breaking your wrists is a huge part of it and quite frankly I have only learned one technique that makes a perfect spiral but I don't have any velocity. I'm too old to compete but it sounds like you know what you are talking about. How do you get the ball to spiral up and come back down with the nose down? When I throw it it looks good but.. What can I offer to my nephew for a tight spiral. I will trust your opinion.
Just as a common rule I tell people when they're trying to get a grip. Just because everyone has a different sized hand, if you have your thumb just below the top lace, have your middle fingers just barely touching and move your hand up and down the ball until your thumbs are about a quarter inch to half inch apart. The other thing, the mechanics of someone's throw should stay the same everytime, and the way they change velocity is how hard you push off your back foot, and that ups arm speed
hey, thanks for the video. i did not know how to get started on this, but now i believe i can get a good grip of the football. i guess you forgot to mention to keep a gap of air between your palm and the football..at least it works for me.
can you make a video where you are actually throwing it?..thanks
@teddy2trees nope. won't be making one of those anytime soon ted. but from your experience of self defacation, i'd say you're well experienced in those fields. OOOOOHHHHH FACE!!!!
thanks man! better than those expertvillage videos out there teaching how to throw football and damn it's complicated. yours are so easy to understand!
Thanks I'm sure you've helped a lot of people that didn't know how to throw a football. I thought it was a great video. You taught it well. (BTW yes I'm a girl that plays football :P )
this reason can also be is your "forcing" your follow through, what i mean by that is your 4 fingers are sliding off the ball at the same time and trying to force the spin of the football
awesome actually since i was eight i was in school and we had free (a subject that we can do whatever we want) and i went to a empty classroom with my friends until we realized someone was there and she was way older than us and we didn't mind and i had my football and i started playing with my friends i almost made one of my friends bleed and remeber the person in the class she said that when im a teenager she said she imagines me and my friends being quarter backs im not braging
What's interesting is that you're wearing a Steelers jersey, and teaching how to throw a football. Terry Bradshaw had a very different, and odd grip on the football. Granted, you're wearing a Big Ben jersey, but still. This is a great how to video, but a lot of the mechanics of throwing a football come down to personal preference, and comfortablity.
Is That really Ben?

You forgot to mention that the left elbow needs to be thrust across and clearing your body. Good video though.

Very good 'how to' now you should do a demonstration in open field.
