IIRC it was actually 11 British a/c involved. He engaged two and shot them down just before McCuddens flight of 6 engaged him and near the end 3 more Se5's entered the fray. He put rounds into every British a/c involvoed. The F.1, being a prototype, was unknown to the Brits and it's extremely agile characteristics were quite a shock to the Brits but Voss must have know the inevitable result since he could never outrun the Se5's to disengage from combat.
i remeber hearing of Voss's last dog fight, it was a 1 Vs. 8 he managed to knock down 3 or more nad heavaly damage the rest, he went down only after running out of ammo. and he still didnt back down
Excrutiating detail. You must have spent a lot of time making those models. It is nice to see that Voss' name is not forgotten. You should mention in your brief history that it took 6 or more of Britains top aces to bring him down, and only after he may have ran out of fuel and ammo. Voss was a remarkable pilot and a glorious man.
@WesMetal13 everyone forgets he had help for a bit....German Ace Menckhoff enter the contest to aid Voss and ably assisted till Rhys-Davids shot him down(he did survived the crash however) twisting and turning but taking hits on his right side from Hoidge while in a head on aganist McCudden one bullet hit and went thru his lungs..probably then in shock he missed seeing Rhys-Davids come in low and behind emptying 2 drums to the underside of triplane before it went down..
