  • I'm wondering what is the necessary speed of the wind to reach this kind of speed .I have read an article about sailng wich is saying that the speed of the boat can be higer than the speed of the wind and i would like an opinion about that.

  • WOW!

  • They got within range of a world record and YouTubers are critics if it's design... Lol

  • they need to get that boat up with some hrydrofoil as long as it doesnt get the skipper killed it just has to mich drag

  • Awsome video!

  • Wow.. what design.. what about Bermuda?

  • ...how did i get here???

  • @iant4

    desmond?

  • @pomeroy600287 nooo haha but i still dont haha

  • I agree, all that spray equals lots of drag somewhere.

  • sailrocket.c o m

  • That's incredible! But I notice that the pilot is getting hit with awhole lot of spray getting kicked up from the front of the craft. Perhaps it could go faster if somehow this were tweeked to eliminate this drag. BTW, is this a hydrofoil based craft? Is there a link to read up more on this exciting effort. Good luck to you in your effort to break the record!!

  • Dinghies ( possibly all sailboats) are best understood as crap gliders. :-(((

FIrst of all the model is 90 degrees on it's side.

Second of all we have very bad wing shape.

Actually -you know what - I will suck at explaining this go read Julian Bethwaite stuff If you are truly into it - he's the man.

I would be trying to compress a 400 page masterpiece into a youtube answer and that's just silly

It's real - we've planed faster than windspeed

    regularly - It's a nice feeling.

    :-)

  • That's impressive... how can it go 37 knots when the wind speed is only gusting to 20 knots?

  • Its a myth that the wind pushes the boat. In realitity the sail creates a wing, like on a plane that produces low pressure on the front side. The boat is "pulled" into the wind at possibly a higher speed than the wind itself.

  • @starchaser28 it`s called sailing
