  • Our country has been stolen by moneyed interests. We live under Neo Feudalism, where bribery and propaganda have replaced feudal men at arms. The only thing that is the same is a return of serfdom.

  • @needparalegal Yes so true ! The only Republican candidate that doesn't wanna start dropping bombs on apartments, schools and Hospitals again murdering tens of thousands of innocent people is RON Paul .

  • In east Kentucky you will find some beautiful small towns nice commities ... people who have made a good life for themselves and their families... its not all bad !

I can know because i'm from there .

  • I get pissed off when people go to Appalachia and only follow the losers around with a camera -- Why not follow the winners around for a change -- the kid that's soon to be enrolled at MIT or Yale ??

  • @carnut476 Elitist snobs who go to Harvard and Yale and think they are somehow gods over lesser men because their daddies had connections? Liberals actually want to get rid of elite schools because they create a privileged class based solely on school pedigree rather than merit. Racism against "hillbillies" is the same kind of garbage as the elitism of Harvard.

  • @needparalegal No good workin at the bank - no good at slappin on paint - or makin an engine crank and at 64 i'm no good at diggin coal anymore ...lol

  • So much for being a free country!!!!

  • I am a northern "Yankee" Bastard who has nothing but love and respect for the south,

It is a lot like where I grew up in the foothills of the White Mountains in New Hampshire,

Of course without the Arctic winters from hell.

I dig what this woman is doing for her community,

Rural people have always been unjustly characterized as ignorant or without culture.

If you have no past, where do you find the strength to fight for your future?

  • @Sirpeterjames1 Thank you so very much -- And you're so right ! All the best brother !

  • @Sirpeterjames1 right on brother, I am from Massachusetts amd we love New Hampshire, but people do stereotype people living in rural area, i would rather be where you are

  • I don't understand -- This is one of only many positive you tube sites concerning southerners, and site gets a mere 16.000 hits -- But if this was a negative site about the south it'd 30 million hits --- why is that ??

  • @carnut476 Because sadly, many people are educated by Hollywood, not research or travel. The result is a large mass of ignorant Northerners who mindlessly quote and believe in stereotypes they see in movies or hear from their parents . All they want to watch are videos creating by simpletons, that misrepresent Southerners and reinforce the ignorant stereotypes they've seen in " Deliverance" or " Sweet Home Alabama". To sum it up in a few words, they are morons.

  • @daFattylover Well put , thanks

  • Its sad to hear this. There are 2 cemetaries at Marathon Oil in Louisiana that people are allowed to visit without having to go through all of that nonsense. I'm pretty sure they are still allowed to bury there also. With the coal companies its probably a lot of bitterness from labor relations.

  • to hell with the coal company!!!

  • I agree with these people, however maybe they shouldn't have sold the land the cemeteries are on? I live in NE TN, and our cemeteries are all on private land. The land is never sold without written provisions for the access to them.

  • i be damned if a coal company or anybody else human or spiritual being will stop my white hillbilly ass from going to a grave.lmao prison .why worry about it their gonna place us in jails or psych wards anyhow get what ya want before ya go.this woman is a very atractive lady

  • Coal companies like all giant conglomerates are evil and dont give a shit about the poeple or the land. EVIL!

  • @HeathenCub Amen.

  • the coal companies are stealing the coal and lives from the mountain people and our government dosen't care because they want the coal for power.. just sick!!!! STAND UP

  • @carnut476 actually it seems to me the other way around. especially on your page. You say all those listed "hate us" i assume you mean southerners, but I don't personally know any how have pages full of ignorant racists KKK stuff like yours...truthfully, you're an embarrasment to southerners and the reason the stereotypes still live, but luckly you're also a dying breed and with interracial marriages on the rise, are being bred out, hallelujah.and yes I'm white and my hate dies with your Klan.

  • @Tinyoak2 t < I'm no racist i hate racing even Nascar ...lol

Remerber the banana -- when it left the bunch, it got .

  • to hell with them .... Just go .. and dont ask anybody

  • heartbreaking to not be able to visit the graves of your loved ones.

  • The states of Virginia and Kentucky have been using these people for years for cheap labor and they care nothing for the people or the land. Now it's just a source of cheap coal. In the hills of VA they say, "Virginia stops at Roanoke" and that's the way the state has always treated the people in SWVA. They've allowed the coal companies to ruin the mountains so bad that no tourist would ever want to go there. If they want to visit the mountains they go to NC or TN where there's no coal.

  • @MountainJackson We got coal here in Tennessee, but we will be damned if anyone touches our mountains. We done told Georgia to go to hell when they tried to take our river.

  • It is so sad that you can not see the graves of your family

  • It is anthropological fact that Whites were the first true Native Americans.

  • I would be dammed if anyone is going to tell me I can't visit my Pop's, I will plant them in the ground and send the rest of them packing back to their office trailer in a hurry...

  • she looks like she is part native indian...

  • @cowboyhippie -- no class whatsoever about you. You can't be from the hills...you're too rude for that. I'd say more like a mine official.

  • @cowboyhippie How does it feel to spit on the bones of those that died at Blair Mountain and in unsafe mines, you corporate scab?

  • i know that in texas that if you have a grave yard that people have been using for many years the state makes sure you can get to it..where my mothers grave is in the last 15 years has become a rock dig.....to get gravel and they tryed to keep us out the same way but the state said we have been using the place for so long we have every right to be there

  • all i can say is that there must be something at that gravesite that they are covering up, or dont want the people to see. Someone should SERIOUSLY look into this more

  • I am from Canada , I would love to spend time with these mountain folk. To me these people are the true blooded Americans, so down to earth, I love thse people...May i come and live with y'all ?!

I'd love to...to get away from this noisy city, and be where its quiet and peaceful...Well that would be a dream !

  • @azzuro79 Come on down!

  • To the last comment made. Would you want to be made to buy a hard hat and steel toe boots and be told what day to go, plus take a safety class that you have to pay for to go to your family's graveyard. You must be an idiot to make such a comment. Better yet why don't you help pay for all the things that are needed . Where is the help for correcting such an obvious wrong that has been done to these people. Shame

  • Totally ridiculous what the coal company demands of these people to show homage to their loved ones

  • Maria is one of our people. She must have American Indian blood, because she speaks so well of the graves of our people. This is part of our Appalachian culture, graves from past genereations are still very respected. I went to Wise Co Va and visted my great great grandparents graves, a very spritual visit of my past.

  • @boggs985 LOL...

  • You don't need permission to visit your kin. Just do it.

  • This lady is very well spoken. She seem like a good woman.

  • let these people visit their kin
