As much as I admire and idolize Gary Myrick, I have a difficult time watching him say the word, "uhm", in every sentence. It just reeks of not knowing why someone is jamming a camera in his face, and he IS a trained professional. C'mon, Gary, really?!
Sony just reissued Gary Myrick's first 3 album on cd with bonus tracks, live tracks from the era Gary Myrick & the Figures ,Living in a Movie & Language including lost unheard studio tracks on Woundedbird . Com I tunes , amazon etc remastered YEAH !!!!
i used to work at a club where gary used to play quite a bit...imagine seeing a person over and again then not seeing them for years ... thats what i meant..he looks so different is all.
hey hey!!!! Isnt it great to see a US celebrity /musician that has not opted for surgery or Botox !!!!! He Looks great , i was thinking how good he looked for his age !!! I am thinkin if he was big in the 80s he must be late 40s early 50s /
So hes lookin great and also he is a talent ...for sure!!
feel bad because i mentioned in a previous post that he looked strung out at a gig i attended in sf but have to say that this vid really reaffirms that he is still one of my favorite players.
I`d love to see Havana 3am again. Saw them at Bogarts LB years ago. That is an impressive instrument. But, everything that lap guitar does, I can do with my semi hollow and a blues bottle or finger splint. I wanna hear it without effects. I am interested rather than being a critic.
What a phenomenally great guitarist who never got his proper respect. When I was in a garage band back in the early eighties, he caught my attention with some great playing on the "guitar talk" mtv vid. This is hot stuff too; I hear alot of Eastern and other influences. Great!!!
hey gary, its raven, ur student at the academy, and thats an awesome guitar! u never showed me that u can play with a slide like that! pretty good playing! "the lonley king", thats an awesome name for a guitar, so original, see ya soon
Gary's 80s albums were underrated gems...but my band always included a Myrick cover like "She Talks in Stereo" or "Model" in our shows to pay tribute and someone would invariably come up yo us to ask "Who was THAT song by, cuz I HAVE to get it." Nice to see Gary play again. C'mon Gary, get your original band together and rock us again!
Let's see, Gary is a brillant guitarist, writer, graphic artist, has a wonderful guitar collection, and one of the only rock stars to keep a full head of hair! Can't get enough of his playing!
Wow Gary. Thanks so much for showing off your lap steel that I had so much fun building for you. Your technique is really unique and playing style quite rootsy and captivating. You really show how versatile players can be on a lap steel. Cheers buddy! -Bill Asher
