They couldn't remake rocketeer right now if they wanted to. Ironman was basically a bad ass super rocketeer. The 1930's version wouldn't compete in the box office. Yet I am still a fan of rocketeer and would like to see a remake of it in the next decade.
I never noticed this popcorn-turner until I was there in January 2009. Was very nice to see Disney hasn't completely forgotten about their older, better films.
"This popcorn stand has been refurbished and returned to it's spot in Tomrrowland!"- Is that with our without The Rocketeer? And who'd he get replaced by? Some lame Disney character, I'm sure.
Poor guy... such a great comic/movie character, and so unappreciated.
I have to say, this video and the music accompanying is fantastic. The rocketeer cranks away here, toiling away to win the hearts of the few who already know who he is. It is kind of sad, and the anguish that the music adds creates this whole feeling of empty hope. The promise of recognition is just beyond the glass, popcornteer. I'm sorry.
There is actually nothing wrong with the original film in so much as it captures the adventure spirit of the even older series of say,Flash Gordon - a hero probably forgotten as much as the Rocketeer. Stop thinking every movie needs to be remade - use your imagination and come up with something original...
I never said there was anything wrong with the original... all I'm saying that i would like to see some form of medium, whether it be a sequel or a remake, about the rockteer... besides what gaves you the idea i want every movie remade? so now you can read minds or something? please, some movies are already good as is...
wow! ive never seen that before. it doesnt look exactly like the rocketeer but its resemblance is very similar. i forgot that the rocketeer was made by disney. so if theyre not gonna release anymore movies about it why not let someone else get the rights and make a better one?
Are modern 14 years more hardened these days to the joy of the imagination? Therefore no finance for a sequel...how bout this...the 1938 Rocketeer's son finds the old jetpack... in modern day L.A.???
Speaking of kids not knowing who the Rocketeer is, I am friends with a family of 8 kids and I gave them this for Christmas, so hopefully that's a few more that are familiar with the movie! :-p
I mean... the tragedy of no sequel to a big budget "family film". The siight of the Rocketeer instead of Tinkerbell before Disneyland's nightly fireworks show. Oh, the humanity!
that's great. i saw that when i was there and forgot to take a pic of it. they should put jack sparrow in there for a few cranks and let the rocketeer fly again in another movie!
I cried :...(

If the the Quay Brothers had directed the Rocketeer, it probably would have looked something like this XD

The Rocketeer had such potential. And then Disney ruined it.

They made a half decent movie of the rocketeer except they raped the plot and got rid of Bettie and replaced her with Jenny.
After that they pretend like the rocketeer never exsisted. We need a new rocketeer movie, made by someone other than disney.

It was jsut on today, i watched ten mins of it and recorded the rest, it looks great :D

I don't think the movie was "half decent" myself. Sure they adapted some things, changed others, etc. BUT: they nailed the Rocketeer vibe, imho.

It's sad that the only Rocketeer "exhibit" is a 10-inch popcorn turner. :(

Disneyland had the little figure refurbished along with the popcorn stand.
Visitors to Disneyland report that it is not in it's usual place from time to time. Replaced with a different cart.

Man i wish Peter Jackson would get hired to direct a remake of the rocketeer... that or at least Kerry Conrad... but that's very unlikely...

If you ask a 14 year old who the Rocketeer is, they have no idea what you're talking about.
As for a sequel or remake... That's not going to happen
