To echo ferociousgumby, this is the theme I remember, from when I watched the show in the early 1960s. This is the theme that plays through my mind whenever I think of the series. I'm quite fond if it, and think it sometimes when I travel, especially by train.

THIS is the theme I remember, not the other one that's so well-known. I used to sort of half-watch this show coz it was "only" about dogs, not horses, so I'd be playing with plasticine or something and look up once in a while. It was a nice show but a bit like the Incredible Hulk or Branded, having to move on each week (or The Fugitive?). He was a good-looking dog.

@jazzy6307, I used to cry at this too, and also at the end of Lassie ( when she put her paw up at the screen, lol) ..my grandfather was such a basterd and used to tease me about it.

It was the original show I watched as a kid in 1963 when I was 6 years old. I have never seen any re-runs of this show over the years, I just remembered this original show while it was on from 63-65 so it's great to see it here on YouTube!. It's one of those things that I'll always have fond memories of from my childhood.

When I was little, this used to make me cry - it broke my heart to see London take off for the next town. I could never understand why he didn't stay put with people who loved him.

Oh gosh , I do remember the song , I had remembered the original series as a kid , but had forgotten the theme , I also had forgotten the production company ( Storer Programs Incorporated ) and its signpost logo , for some strange reason , I thought the company had a profile of an Egyptian queen or king 's head on its signpost logo , maybe I was thinking of another TV production company at the time .

Same for me mandi. 40 years down the track and I've found it. Always thought it was the opening theme but in fact it's the closing.

hi. a todos me llamo moises soy del Callao Peru, me acuerdo de esta serie antigua del 63 ,que la dieron sino me equivoco el año 80 o 81 en el canal 7rtp ,y disfrutaba mucho de esta serie sino me equivoco la daban a las 5:pm de la tarde y me acuerdo que me acuerdo miraba el reloj y recien estaba aprendiendo a ver la hora, esperaba con ganas ver la serie a esa hora en casa de mis abuelos ,yo era un niño de 7 años, me acuerdo de la entrada de la serie, en especial la voz de bajo del cantante .

Do you know this song haunted me for over 40 years?! I could remember every word from when I was 3 years old but had no idea what show it came from. I sang it to people for years and nobody knew it. Thanks for restoring my sanity.

I agree mandi, I loved this show as a young child, I knew the song by heart and I still do.I sang it to my kids when they were babies so now they too know it. Wow, such good memories of innocent childhood!!

I've been singing this all my life too, off and on, mostly in the shower. The show and song obviously had a big impact on me.

Great! Somewhere over the years my memory changed the words to "My name is my friend". Don't know why - maybe as a kid I was thinking how people didn't know the dog or his name, and then after he'd helped someone...he was gone.
