  • I Believe This Was A Video Clip Of WNBC-TV's Newschannel 4 Long-Version Video Promo From March 1996.

  • Hard to believe there was ever a time when the early morning news didn't start at 5 a.m. (or earlier) in NYC.

  • the theme from '81-'89 was nice. the theme frmo '92, '93-'95 was alright but it gotten better when the theme from '96-'03 came. The one from '03-'06 was okay but a bit slow compared to the '96-'03. The 06'-'08 was the same, but was still bad, but it became worse. The current one '08-present is horrible. It doesn't fit them or NY. They gotten a little faster, but the pace of the newscast is still too slow. i miss the '96 version.

  • @welcome2uniqueness

i agree, the 80's version, 92 version, 93-95 version (my top favorite) and the 96-03 version (my second favorite) were good. i didnt like the 03-08 version that much cause it sounded like a lullaby being played by an orchestra. the 08-current version i think is nice, at least the intro since it has the 3 chimes. but your right, most of the rejoins and "up next" tunes sound bad. it would be nice if WNBC went back to using either the 93-95 or 96-03 versions.

  • does anyone know where there is a beter quality of this video?

  • that was their best theme...the current one is the worst

  • i like this theme, the theme from the 80s and the 1992-1995 theme but i also like the current theme cause its pretty catchy and ahs the 3 chimes, something the 2003-2008 theme didnt have

  • @lazypup2001 Their current theme (Gari's NBC New Generation Series 4) is 2nd best only 2 Edd Kalehoff's themes 4 the station. The Rampage package from 2003-2008 was by far the worst.

  • awesome.

  • These were the good old days, when the important thing was the local news, and not promoting the network. The station seems so aloof now, with elitist lifestyle programming and the safe homogenized graphics as CHI, LA, and SF. Sad.

  • Agreed. WNBC was at its best with great people. Whatever happened to Mary Civello, Jane Hanson, Perri Peltz, John Johnson, Michelle Marsh.......all good people. Good graphics, good music, now it's all CRAP. Thank God for Sue and Chuck.

  • I love 4 New York

  • talk to me when you are able to hold a job as long as sue has.. .

  • Ah, the classic NewsChannel 4 days. Gotta love them. It's nice to see the pictures of the World Trade Center again. So hard to believe the NYC skyline has changed.

  • i love it

  • I am going to miss Live at Five

  • Notice that is the same John Miller who worked for ABC News for a little while and even co-anchored 20/20 with Barbara Walters. He is now the Assistant Director of Public Affairs for the FBI.

  • Ahh...mentions of the old Noon newscast, great memories.

  • And Live at Five

  • Len Berman kind of resembles Eric Bogosian, don't you think?

  • Sue looked so much younger back then. This was only 10 years ago.

I do miss the red line days.

  • still the best newschannel in the U.S.A

  • Hey whatever happened to that Matt guy, or that dude Al something?

Seriously though, can Paula even go three seconds without dropping the race bomb? Even in a promo?

    Madame Nation of Islam???

  • Matt Lauer and Al Roker now appear on "The Today Show." Lauer co-hosts with Meredith Vieira, while Roker serves as chief meteorologist.

  • matt laurer and Al roker are on the Today show

  • Oh wow...when did that happen? DUH!
