are your nuttss Lorretta sounds liek and angel here and she has never sang a song that doesn't fit her. I ferevently disagree with you and think you are tone DEAF WITH CAPITOL DEAF!!!!!!!
It is a very rare day that I hear Loretta sing a song that I feel doesn't fit her, this is one of those days. Most songs she sings she makes sound like no one on earth but her could sing it but this song just is not her best. It seemed very boring. Reminded me of a piano bar where the singer knew no one was paying attention, the wow factor that I am used to with most songs Loretta sing isn't there (for me) on this song. Maybe the Wilburns made her sing this one?
This is a truely timeless and beautiful song. It brings tears to my eyes almost every time I listen to it. And there is just something about Loretta Lynns version I mean it just fits her vocals so well. Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!
Maybe she was just haveing a bad day. You know just because she is a singer that don't mean she can't get sick. I Love Loretta Lynn. All 50 Years of her music is Great. The Queen of Country Music. I Love Her Very Much.
No I'am not tone deaf! Honey I Love Loretta Lynn. Can you sing as good as her if you did some how make it in Country Music would you have 35 Number 1 Hits 20 Top 1 Albums 4 Golden recoards. Think about it you Loretta is the Queen of Country, First Lady of Country,The Coal Miners Daughter. Miss Loretta Lynn. She has also had Many Many Top 5 10 Hits also. So think about it honey they are a lot
while some artists just sing a gospel song.......when I hear loretta lynn sing anything gospel I know she means every word. The same goes for her actions...she is definitly a christian woman and I think god she is because, I can be assured that she will go to heaven someday and we can then meet. Love you Loretta forever and ever!!!!!
I had no success at all; until one night I was sitting in bed reading a book and who walks right through the wall but my friend, the spirit of my friend! And she said Im going to make you a very famous person in singing country music. she got out on the stage and she started to sing and right in the middle of where she really needed the power! And her spirit-friend tapped her on the shoulder and started to sing for her. She said, Her voice went through me, the power. Deut 18: 10-12
I think this is the wrong song for her (like Janis Joplin singing "Killling me Softly"), no matter how much she wants to put it across. As a song, it's pretty maudlin. Kiri te Kanawa loves it and it's part of her repertoire, also an unfortunate pairing.

Great song, but does anyone notice she comes in a tad bit late at 1:29? she falls a note behind. (I know this cause I was singing along, and I was like.."Oops, she missed that one"...hehe. I Love Loretta, even when she makes mistakes.

I'm no music expert, but I don't see why this is getting so much hate. It certainly showcases more talent than Elvis' screechy rendition.

It was Loretta's "Hymns" Album that started me on the path to finding Jesus! There aren't enough "thank you's" in the world for that.

@ferociousgumby I rather like Dame Kiri's version. Jessye Norman has also done a very nice job of it.
