I don't wish to be in London when the Olympics are on, due to the security threats & crowds, so maybe a perfect time to see the beautiful city of Edinburgh I long to see. Everyone whose been here has fallen heavily in love with the place, French, Italian & English ppl told me they absolutely love the place & ppl.
The greatest three years of my life were spent working and living in the city. Born and raised in Canada, but Edinburgh will always be my second home!
So- does the bridge link Old Town and New Town? Just curious-- I've not been able to visit and I'm thinking I'm going to be enrolling there in the fall... MA International Relations and Law! :)
@greendaychick105 - As you've heard, the North Bridge connects the 'Old' and the 'New'. There is also Waverley Bridge and the Mound doing the same thing just a couple mins. walk away. These videos - valiant as they are in attempting to do so - never convey the sheer beauty of the city (which is much more than just these downtown shots) on a gorgeous day. Mind, once you've been there, the weather doesn't matters; it always looks great! MA studies in Edinburgh. Your life will forever be better.
@greendaychick105 - Another something for you re: Edinburgh. Go to the Hostelworld website (sorry, I believe youtube does not permit the posting of web addresses in messages). There are a couple vids there... 10 Things You Should Know about Edinburgh... that sort of thing. They're nice, they're fun, and they're a start. But do get beyond these... the Botanical Gardens, Stockbridge, Morningside (where JK Rowling lives... on one of the Abbotsford streets... walk the Meadows, the canal, the hills.
i am lucky to have lived all most all of my life in this wonderful city and I thank you for your wonderful video and comments and assure you all that you are always welcome in my beautiful and historic home town.
Even though I'm now 65, my memory of Edinburgh still haunts me. As a young American GI, stationed in Germany 66-69, I rode a train from London into your city and was instantly awed be what I experienced in a 3-day visit. Magic and mystery abounding/one of the most beautiful cities in the world --this is all I can tell anyone. Nothing like it!
Thank you so much for this video! It truly inspired me to go to Edinburgh. I had always wanted to go to Scotland and I came across this video and instantly wanted to see Edinburgh in person. I went and loved it so much!
Visited there 2 weeks at this summer... fell in love.... to the city... going to finish my school here in finland and move to edinburgh for work... surgerynurses... i'm glad that they are needed everywhere :)
My goodness! I just googled the heart marker as I walked up and down that sidewalk and remembered it in this video. OMG apparently I walked over it so many times that I was destined to have bad luck! Need to get back and spit or sit on it for good luck! Great vid! Brings back good memories!
@AH4225 Actually WE DO have gardens up here in scotland, also it does NOT rain 364 days a year, we get a lot more sunshine than you think, no such thing as a monsoon in scotland
in all fairness, given that the main focus is the city centre, there were never going to be many detached villas were there?
and a quick glance at the date this was posted and the fact that an outdoors ice rink and bare trees feature does seem to indicate that the weather was bound to be less than exotic.
if you must criticise, at least make it on legitimate grounds.
Great job girl!!!And the song is perfect!!! Since I left Edinburgh my life is not the same anymore.. probably the best year of my life!!! Thanks for this video luv!!!! xxxxx
I spent a couple of days there this summer. What a great city. I wish I lived there. It was a welcome reprieve from the streets of London, where I spent the first part of my week. It was DEFINITELY a welcome vacation from the US. Not saying I don't love the US, but it is not charming or old in any way...... Great memories. Can't wait to go back!!!!
Yeah.. London is impressive in it's own way, but Edinburgh is charming, magical, and downright beautiful. I could never be a Londoner, but I fell in love with Edinburgh the first time I saw the place.

Yeah it's gorgeous when it rains grey skies 364 days a year
These people obviously don't know what sunshine is
I'll go there when I want to experience a monsoon. Or haggis.
Give me a break
