  • finally a game for physicist...

  • Comment removed

  • what

  • it's all about time shifting...in fact this game came from 1989...meh

  • stupid

  • HLSHIT

  • need to go forward in time and see if this game still looks like it was made for the Amiga :s

  • Let the slew of time travel jokes begin...

  • so the word rape now has no meaning, HAH CoD players are gonna be mad.

  • the concept is awesome

  • is it multiplayer? if so, when you destroy their base, can they go back in time and prevent their own base from being destroyed?

  • @spudnick160 It's multiplayer, and yes they can. Check out the other demo videos.

  • This looks so complicated how did you made this? even wen you do muiltiplayer?

  • This game is going to either create a drive to discover time travel technology, or break a lot of minds.

    Definitely buying this.

  • wat

  • The devs must be crazy.

  • What if your towers were destroyed in the past? And u can't make your units in the present... Thus your units cannot travel back in time cause they were never made.

But you did make the units and you did travel back in time

    :D

  • what is this .. i dont even..

  • my mind exploded...in the past

  • thats fucking gay LOL

  • HOW WILL THIS EVER BE BALANCED

  • Fuck your balance, this is the most awesome thing I've ever seen.

  • no dudes, the thing with this game, it would never end until one team chrono energy deplete and u cant do time travel anymore. Just realize it after listening to the hazard president.

  • So basically, this is just a long winded way of pressing Ctrl+Z?

  • So...it's sort of like Tower Defence, meets Cursor*10, meets Lumines

  • what a pain in the ass, i just want to destroy the enemy....

  • I know this game has been a success in the future

  • @ilesalmo

Well, for a small game, yes, but it cannot be compared to Heart of the Swarm...

And Achron 2 was just too much - time travel, terraforming, commando units,

anomalys and multiple planets IN ONE SINGLE MULTIPLAYER MATCH made the game too confusing.

  • @MsterX It was meant to be a pun. "Has been a success" is a past tense but "in the future" is...

  • Please tell me this isn't an Inception video game.

Time wave in a time wave in a time wave.

  • Doesn't this concept ultimately defeat the chance of multiplayer?

  • @AMYuntold it has multiplayer

  • This looks great! A right mind screw as well, but I'm sure it's easier to get the hang of it in action.

  • ...this is too complicated, ill stick to warhammer and starcraft.

  • I've wanted this game ever since I finished watching the video in two minutes time.

  • You will be wiped from existence instantly once your past self dies.

  • @l4958 Not until a 'timewave' catches up... by this game's temporal mechanics, that is.

  • so if I go back in time and kill myself, what happens, because my future self wouldn't exist yet so once doing so there would be no possible way that I could have killed myself having not existed yet.

  • nerd

  • Has anyone noticed the Related Videos tab? There's quite a lot of "documentaries" about people who claim to have travelled through time.

I put "documentaries" in speech marks because in a few minutes it won't have happened, but after that it did.

  • Holy shit. o_O

  • now, fix so I can use this irl.

  • looks cool, but very complicated to put in the game correctly and without giving players major headaches from playing it

  • awesome stuff

  • looks complicated yet creative

a new step for rts games

  • Nice. In a few years this will create preety cool games

  • i guarantee once you have the mechanics of the game down to a tee, this will be awesome. until you figure them out, it will be kinda frustrating...

  • @kidriot Stick to halo

  • Very interesting idea. I wonder how will it look in the end. And sadly I don't have the 30$ required to pre-order :P.

  • Its abit complicated , because if an AI goes into the past , destroys the factory that made your army , then wont your army not exist? Or if you send them back in time , then they manage to destroy the enemy fleet , but the fleet manages to destroy the factory at the same time , then wont that mean your units get destroyed , because they were never made , and their units never destroyed? Im looking forward to the mechanics of this game.

  • Its very frustrating to read such discounts of important innovation. The RTS concept of warring units isn't new and neither are 3D graphics. War games have been around for a very long time. What is the theme of Chess, after all? Here they invent the tech example future games may use for a less violent or educational theme with rich graphics. These accomplishments with temporal travel are enough by far.

  • And multi-player? I expect a race to be the first to kill the other team's parents, of course.

    :)

  • wow this game looks amazing... I've played some mind blowing games in my time... but this video alone has just made my head feel like it has physically popped

  • This does seem very interesting. I wonder how mp will work in the "real world" Deffiitely curious about a campaign.

  • I hope they don't spend so much time on the time travel that they forget to make a good RTS. That'd be a shame.

  • .................wow thats confusing as all hell

  • how will multiplayer be?

  • I suggest that anyone spending time and energy and brain power playing this game should first use their personal assets to get an engineering education before they fritter away their lives on this.

  • I hope the graphics will improve though...

  • It's an alpha version.

  • To game creators: you have interesting concepts: chrono energy, time waves, etc. If you put that much thought into time-strategy / mechanics, why not rethink the game to focus on stuff besides war. Time travelers could go back to unravel mysteries, go forward to find new technologies. I know this seems un-cool or boring to some gamers, but time travel could be used for noble purposes: preventing war, capturing war criminals, seeking evidence to convict them, or proving innocence of the framed.

  • I like this idea.

  • Comment removed

  • insane concept. i can imagine high level rts players, like pro starcraft players, playing this. would be amazing haha.

  • I'm hungry, I haven't eaten since later this afternoon.

  • Lollerskates

  • @degauze do people giving this a thumbs up know that it's a quote from a movie?

  • Amazing. This looks incredibly complicated to play.

  • this is one the greatest concepts for a game i have ever seen

  • Re-watching because this is a brilliant concept.

I think the people forget that if they send the same unit back over and over, it's going to waste energy at the expense of whatever other resource is going to be required to make the units. In a way this is just an alternate way to build up an army if one resource isn't available over another.

It makes me curious on how the AI is going to handle time travel. or if there is going to be AI at all.

  • There is an AI

  • The engine is realy stable. It could be used for other things than RTS, even software, not only games :)

Anyway, the AI gonna be hard to mod, but think of games like Supreme Commander, the AI for it is incredible complex, too^^. Anyway, it will be hard to make the whole AI working without any bugs^^

  • This game looks like it will be awsome! I cant wait untill it comes out!

  • how effective is the time stopping going to be in multiplayer?

  • cant you like, make a unit, go back in time to 1 sec before I made it, wait for it to spawn again, now I have two units, repeat and have an army in no-time?

  • that way, you can have a huuuge army to attack your opponent after 2 seconds or sumthing :S

  • you can, but if you only go back one second then the time traveller will be the only remaining one as the clone instantly jumps back into the chrono porter :p

  • what happens if you destroy a manufacturing plant that produced all the mechs you made in the future, 10 minutes in the past?

Does it destroy all the mechs that it ever produced as well?

  • Yes, the next timewave will wipe them out.

  • Wait, what happens if the commander is destroyed?

  • My guess is they continue with the last order untill it is completed then stop

  • Well if you undo the changes youve done, its as if you never made your lancer scout for enemies in the first place giving you no reason to reverse time therefore you would have sent your lancer out again not knowing if there were units. DAYUM

  • if you own on this game...ur a genius...

  • This is the most confusing game ever D:

  • After the natural reaction of my brain crapping itself I thought...

    What about dopplegangers?

What keeps me from sending a mech back into the past to fight, then after the fight sending the mech back in the past to fight, then after the fight sending the mech back in the past to fight, then after the fight sending the mech back in the past to fight, then after the fight sending the mech back in the past to fight....

    OH CRAP!!!

  • Chronoenergy :P

  • I think this is part of the strategy, and also sending things back or issuing commands takes up energy which you don't have an infinite amount of

  • "Achievement Unlocked: Defeat Hitler with only one unit."

    Enjoy that thought.

  • Comment removed

  • What they have done to stop this is that the damage stays with the unit, so as you keep sending it back, they are all damaged. there is also the chronoenergy, and a nasty trick is that if the origional unit is destroyed, then none of the warped units are actually there, and the next time wave will get rid of them.

  • I hope they make better graphics and bars...kinda crappy looking. Nice idea tho

  • It's an alpha. They're giving us a reaaaaaaally early look at the game here.

  • HOLY SHEET

  • holy shit

  • looks so cool, ive never saw a strategy game with a time travel option!i got to get it!

  • I think i broke my brain.

  • HELP MY HEAD IS EXPLODING IN CONFUSION

  • Hello sir

  • now THIS is a confusign game. what happens in the case of a paradox? as said in the movie, untis sent back in time are also i nthe present. What happens if you sedn them back in time AGAIN? a single unit could form a whole army in the past!

  • Their engine can handle all that stuff. They've got a video up where they deliberately create a grandfather paradox, it just oscillates between the two possible outcomes for a while until one reality 'solidifies.'

And yeah, it is possible to create an army composed of one unit, but if you do do that, the past versions of that unit MUST survive to later travel back in time. If the original unit dies, there goes your entire army and everything you've managed to do with it.

  • what about other paradoxes tough... seriously, unlimited problems can be created by time-travelling. I doubt it's going to make it easy for the devs.

  • Other paradoxes like what? The devs don't have to do much, they don't have to plan for each situation. The engine can handle paradoxes, they'll all be resolved one way or another.

  • They made a video describing the Grandfather's Paradox, search in their site.

  • like i said, time-travelling presents unlimited paradoxes, it's near impossible to handle them all

  • Very interesting game idea. It's probably insanely confusing the first several times you play it, and you're gonna suck. But like all games, you'll get used to it. Hey, it isn't THAT confusing, there are just so many ways to lose. AND so many ways to win. You gotta pay very close attention, or you're gonna get ass raped in the past. Sounds fun, when's it coming out?

  • o_O

  • Gee that game looks too complicated even though it looks cool. How will multiplayer work haha

  • I think enough playing of this game would cause my brain to melt.

  • I agree-this is way too complicated.

  • It looks like a good idea going on there,

if you were interested in my thoughts on the matter i would say to limit the amount you can go back, like a few minutes at best. being able to jump widly through time could mean you'd build an army and then jump back to the start if the game n finish the opponent

  • The time bar only lets you go back so many minutes.

But even still, as long as your opponent manages to send units back to save his stuff before the next time wave hits, he'll be fine.

  • this looks awesome! nice job guys!

  • I would buy this game, but i don't have enough time to..you know...think...about stuff.

  • I wish I could reverse time and unread that message

  • awesome concept, seems it'll be an amazing game :D

  • That made about as much sense as the waterproof towel....

  • Very interesting concept, but you'll have to manage different timelines which affect eachother at the same time. Your opponent will probably do the same.

It'll be interesting to see how they manage mindfucks and paradoxes.

Like, if I send a unit back in time and it kills itself, how will it travel back in time in the first place if it was dead in the past? But its death is a consequence of its time travel.

  • Paradoxes like that are solved with the 'time waves' idea, which I thought was really clever. I think a lot of sci-fi has similar ideas, but it just makes more sense in a video game.

  • 0.o mindfuck ftl

  • in alpha

  • It's in alpha, for god's sake.

  • Crap, I meant to hit reply and I hit mark as spam! Sorry. Anyways, give him a break, it's in alpha!

  • Is it even possible to lose in this game? I can't see this being possible in multiplayer :S

  • this is a huge mind fuck. but makes you wnat to play just so you can figure it out

  • thats deep man. good stuff, u could theoreticaly have like 5 battles goin on at the same time, at different times. if u get what im sayn

  • So I can masturbate..twice in the same timeline?

    I'm in

  • lmao

  • Comment win

  • Waaaay too complicated for me.

  • Well, you are Canadian XD

  • Best game concept in the last decade

  • sounds complicated as fuck.

  • So wait..what if you went back in time and killed all your units...would the grandfather paradox take effect and break the game?

  • I think you would just lose the game like in any RTS. You can't go back before the first part of time in the game, where units already existed. The grandfather paradox ends the cause of something, not the thing itself.

  • Reading their website it seems that it will switch between both outcomes of the paradox, I guess with each passing time wave, until the event that caused it goes beyond the window of time that you can travel to. At that point one of the outcomes will become permanent. They even mention that skilled players will be able to set up paradoxes to their own advantage.

  • u never lose this gaem because u go back in time, what a great concept

  • i could punch your face, and then go back in time, then punch you in the face again, and then it would be like the greatest moments of our lives for all eternity .. .

  • Woah, this could become really wack. I would love to try this.

  • Don't even talk. You have no inkling as to how time travel would possibly work. I don't think any does.

Who knows if we can change the past? We sure as heck can't go back in time to find out.

  • okay well this isn't really proof i'm right, but if time travel was possible in the future and it was possible to change the past, don't you think someone would have gone back to the past and stopped a major tragedy? e.g. bringing a vhs player and footage of the nuclear bombs going off in japan in an effort to stop scientists working on the bomb in the first place, warning kennedy and king about their assassinations etc. etc. Now i'm not saying no one has tried this in the future, but it obvious

  • Comment removed

  • You are assuming humanity will survive long enough to find out if it's possible or not ;)

  • -ly hasn't worked. Maybe its plausible someone went back in time and caused those things to happen. But that wouldn't be changing anything, that would be setting things in motion.

  • Alright... maybe the world had already suffered through a WW3 on a different timeline and someone went back in time and prevented it.

Why speculate over this type of thing anyways? Can't you accept it's a really cool game concept and leave it at that?

  • please see my last comment. i DO think this is cool.

  • gotcha :P

  • What if in our future time line, regardless of all our advancements, we never got a hang of time travel?

  • Then i guess we'll never know.

  • Oh youtube commentary, never stop being naive.

"MY VIDEO GAME ISN'T REALISTIC, TIME TRAVEL ISN'T EVEN POSSIBLEobrb playing halo and wow"

  • I wasn't saying this is going to be a bad game, i will definitely play it if it comes out. You should also use the word "naive" properly.

  • let's go back in time and fix the comments

  • Holy crap this could get complicated. I definitely want to try this.

  • theres casual gamers, and gamers who like more complex games.. if this game did go through into production id bet my soul it would get a strong dedicated fan base.. EvE is pretty damn complex but it maintains around 170k subscribers perpetualy. this shits pretty epic btw

  • No, it's not in beta. See the title being Alpha demo.

This is a brilliant idea, but very complex. Though using the same force on 2 totally different attacks, and making battles happen differently, is a fantastic idea.

    I'm on board.

  • I think this is a really neat idea. That having been said, however, cool science alone doesn't make a fun game. There is a very good chance that players will find this new gameplay feature too complex and frustrating.

  • I doubt it's even in beta. This the IN-DEVELOPMENT, backbone of the game. Showing off the basic mechanics. They have enough time to polish it off with fancy graphics after they get the basics down right.

  • It's pre-alpha, moron. All games look like this in the beginning stages.
