The meaning of life according to Jonny Greenwood and Simon Pummell! Bodysong needs to be experienced on an instinctive rather than analytical or critical level, so sit back and enjoy.
@MicahBuzan true, music is about feeling but the fact that it takes time for some people to truly understand and grasp the original form of the music makes me wonder if people actually are hearing what Greenwood is hearing while he makes his music.
@MicahBuzan a good example is you know how theres a time where you listen to an album and you say "its horrible" but then after a while of listening you say "you know what, this album is actually not bad". The thing about our mind today is that our brain has closed in some of the path where we won't take our music to but if you were to open that path and accept what you are hearing without trying to be bias you can not only enjoy the music but really understand the music.
The last song drives me mad because from the first start of bass my mind exploded and I loved it and it's perfect and woah. I might as well be dead because I've been whipped in my future music career twice now.
Wow! Is it just me or does this score highlight something very disturbing and sinister and haunting about those otherwise perfectly pleasant normal images and clips?
I really need such a bottle at this time, to keep the dangers out.
The video matches the song (or maybe songs is a better word?).
However this type of music is the main reason why I started loosing interest for Radiohead, after enjoying having all of the group's albums in the collection.
I even returned "Kid A" to the shop but bought "Amnesiac", which was a lot better, although still strange.
Aha...it's mr J. Greenwood that made me lose interest.
@jackzwinger its like finding the theme behind a novel but this really dictates the spirit of humans in celebration and in creation, both in dance and art. There's no real answer other than the one that you create from your own reasoning and wisdom.

It hurts me to see great talents such as Jonny or even his band Radiohead not being appreciated as much as the untalented artists that we see chirping all day long in MTV or any other music channel. Respect Jonny for another of your masterpiece.
@biscuitchannel I don't think he's underrated at all. lol. He's respected by most to be one of the most influential musicians of the era. He gets plenty of credit. He gets to record with a multi-million dollar recording group every couple years, he gets to compose symphonic music for BBC, and simply, he makes a living making incredible sounds. That's all anyone could ever want in my opinion. He's just not an attention whore. There are plenty of more underrated musicians than Greenwood.
@biscuitchannel I mean he's the BBC's composer in residence, he does get some credit but yeah I still agree. He's currently writing an album with Penderecki though so people are definitely noticing!
@HangTheScientologist, erm.. I LOL'd at what jaapznl said about the guy being sinterklaas @ 1:40... so in my opinion wasn't a very pointless comment, because that is funny.. as for the video itself, it's one of the best imagery and music combinations I have ever seen... so... i din't actually LOL at the video itself.. okay..
those mandolins at 1:50 sound like demons sratching on the doors of hell. truly insane sounds jonny greenwood is capable of. i made an animated music video on my channle; it's somewhat inspired by bodysong (more the music than the footage).
I understand this will probably get marked as spam for saying that lol.
Jonny Greenwood is an amazing solo artist...even outside of Radiohead his music is just as fantastic, and this piece almost overshadows the visuals it is put to ...I would definitely hire him to write the score for my own film if I ever made one.
Bodysong is on Film4 tonight at around half 2. Going by this clip I'd guess it's gonna be similar to truly remarkable films like KOYANNISQATSI and BARAKA.
this man has a whole universe of sound going on in his mind, from this song´s intro to the paranoid android solos, to the guy who smashed his guitar against the floor to make it sound weird, to the computer programing on idioteque,
Its a film that uses clips of various sceens to show the cycle of life. It starts out with sperm and eggs then proceeds to the birth. Then it touches on various other things like religion, sex, disease, all the while keeping to the order of life to death. The special features of the video are wonderful
This is binding in a sense, you feel the intrigue, the haunting atmosphere of the song, but once you're going to discover what's that true feeling of uncertainty, its erratic presence vanishes.
Wow! From 1:53 to 4:18 it sounds so dark and creepy, just like Erich Zann's music from Lovecraft's "Call of Cthulhu"! Fits perfectly, isn't it? Amazing!

The film it´s great, beauty image and music, but the mostly important shots are about of oriental cultures, and there show like phenomenons, i think, the anglo american-cultures have much for show, and i seen little bit of it, that makes me think that maybe the film have a partial point of view, i don´t know why the film not show more of the anglo-american culture, in the end, all we are a phenomenon.
What is the style of trumpet (if not trumpet please tell me.) playing called on the third track called. It's very fast and loud, and a bit abstract. Please, I'm a filmmaker who needs help in finding a way, such as this, to express my ideas.
