  • I just read today that Peter Grant asked Ron Wood to join The New Yardbirds (before they became LZ). I don't see a need for a fifth member of LZ myself. His reply to PG "I don't to join a bunch of farmers." In my opinion RW is not up par with any member of LZ>

  • @josemontenegro777 because JPJ play's bass as hell, and he like it.

  • @jacobnrrs I love JPJ and this song, but remember the dude is worth 40 million pounds! Doesn't NEED support...although he deserves it =)

  • Can someone explain me how its possible to come up with something like this?

  • @Eldererr I have got NO IDEA dude, it's crazy. Seriously, I always knew John Paul Jones was an amazing musician, but I can't believe how good this album is.

  • @Eldererr TALENT

  • can someone explain to me why Jimmy Page was lead guitar? I mean.... seriously why?

  • @josemontenegro777 this is mandolin though! :)

  • @josemontenegro777 Are you high? Go listen to some of Zeppelin's live records and that's your answer why Page was lead guitar. John Paul Jones is a jack of all trades that held the group together, but without Page that band would never have existed

  • @josemontenegro777 because hes awesome!!!

  • he never got enough credit he was always in the background in zepp but without him it would not have been as good

  • when giants walked the earth

  • Steve Hillage, mixed with King Crimson and Hawkwind with a bit of Irish type folky stuff thrown in. What isn't to like?

  • does jpj have a youtube acc i need to subscribe to him

  • BRILLIANT ; GENIAL john paul jones is one of my all time favourite musician beneath jimmy page ;-D

  • why does this seem like a heavy pink floyd in the beginning then morph into zeppelin. SICK!!!!

  • Awesome. JPJ has a very distinct 'voice' as a composer. He has an eerie harmonic palette, which underscored Led Zep in a way that I think was hard to attribute properly to him. So I love hearing that here, in the thundering riffs and playful outro. I get no sense of musical compromise here either. JPJ is as authentic and faithful to his musical sensibilities as ever.

  • @baremetal ...nicely said

  • it sounds like he used a guitar like whoever... I yawn at all the boring comparisons.

I cant believe I missed this album...

  • Anyone else think of either Joe Satriani or Spyro the Dragon after the intro?

  • JOHN PAUL JONES IS MY HERO BASS PLAYER OF ALL TIME>and im getting old too.

  • Simply Brilliant...

  • John Paul Jones - mandolin, 4-, 6-, 10- and 12-string basses, bass steel guitar, acoustic and electric guitars, organ, synthesizer, vocals

    Terl Bryant - Drums, percussion

    Nick Beggs - Chapman Stick

    Hahahah thats so funny

  • I have this, have all his stuff... then again I have all Pages, plants and Jason bonhams to... but back to this... hence my profile name.. love it... thanks for posting! 5 stars.. green thumb!!

  • John Paul Jones' talent is too good for this world.

  • In my opinion one of the beautifulest PIECES OF ART ever painted in history.

  • С этой музыкой я выжил Cabul

  • @TheDrogobych exact :-D

  • Что значит заслуженный человек. Дорастите, черти, и будет вам почет.

  • Wow, I haven't been keeping up on my former Zeppelin musicians, but that's gonna change, now! I think it's pretty clear that without JPJ Led Zep would've been just another cool 70s band with a good guitarist, not the legendary group it was. This guy is a one-man prog rock band.

  • my ear pussy is foaming

  • @asmatic123 lol, oh yeah!

  • @asmatic123 HaHaaaaaaaaa! Sho' you right!

  • @asmatic123 do you go to an ear specialist or a gynocologist

  • @asmatic123 get that checked out

  • thats the coolest damn penguin ive ever seen

  • @akatsukiamp i think it's a vulture no a penguin

  • Surely not disparaging this thunderous masterpiece, but does it remind anyone else (okay maybe only fleetingly) of Zappa's great guitar-bass playoff Transylvania Boogie, off the 1970 album Chunga's Revenge? John Paul takes it to another level though. I was amazed at the number of youths chanting out his name at Them Crooked Vultures storming Auckland concert a few months back, presumably having raided Mum and Dad's Led Zep collections. It was very heartening.

  • The Vulture...wasnt that the mask he wore in The SOng remains The Same...I think it started there

  • ya can hear the zep-brilliant!

  • DOUCH!!!!!!!!!!

  • That album cover must have something to do with the age of black plague in Venice.

When the doctors used to walk on the streets looking for infected people, they had those birdish masks and their peaks were filled with herbs and stuff, to prevent the infection. Thats what i have heard

  • @SubaUba It also takes the form of a vulture, and JPJ is in a band called "Them Crooked Vultures".

  • @SubaUba ..I htink the vulture started with the Mask he wore in TSRTS

  • WOW I've never heard this one before. This is ecstatic almost like Nusrat Fatah Ali Khan--the music is so hypnotic and intense. JPJ is my hero!

Thanks for posting this; I WILL BUY THIS ALBUM.

  • I m not a digi wonder.

    Please tell me..

Im also very interested in VIDEO material with Ritchie Blackmore in whatever form, except BN maybe, hehehe

  • great stuff

  • sounds like a radiohead song in the beginning

  • actually a lot of it reminds me of the stuff on Rush's vapor trails

  • @dwelman1 rushs "vapor trails"??? whaaa???? are ye deaf man? not even close

  • @gnomeofwar did you make it past the 3rd minute? how can the bass tone not remind you of geddy? not even close????

  • someone needs to put shibuya bop on here, its the 8th track from this CD, its like this song on speed. the only one on youtube someone dubbed really poor vocals over.

  • Great track.

    Did not know it.

One of the examples JPJ was one of the main pillars in Led Zeppelin.

Can anyone tell me if its possible to burn sound from YouTubes on CD????

  • the CD only costs 15 bucks dude, support the guy, he doesnt get enough credit as it is.

  • there are different websites you can do it from

  • Comment removed

  • John Paul Jones is the God of riffs

  • crack is wack X-D

  • I never would've guessed that this is an electric mandolin and not a guitar

  • Freaky, huh? And he seems to be playing a lot of these instruments at the same time.

  • I think its Echo Pedals

  • WOOOOOOAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

  • oops nevermind, I just read the info. Damn JPJ always uses the funkiest basses and mandolin and plays them expertly, but he never really did a proper solo for Zeppelin! Too bad

  • Does JPJ play bass for this band?

  • JPJ "is" the band, except for drums

  • Wow, what a musical genius! So his songs are all like solos? Making up for Zeppelin, eh?

  • lemon song and all of the ones with a key instrument? but yeah i get what you mean

  • he didnt do solos on angry angry and leafy medows, otherwise he did EVERYTHING except drums.

  • what a trippy song

  • One of my favorite songs.

  • Jones was the best musician in Zeppelin, so this does not surprise me :D

  • Together with Bonzo :)

  • with jimmy and percy

  • the most divers definatly but bonzo was a beast and of course jimi before the heroin got to him

  • I don't think it was the heroin that found Jimmy*, but rather Jimmy who came across the heroin and then deliberately seeked it out more than his other three bandmates combined.

John Paul Jones is definitely the "Quiet Zeppelin", if you will, hands down the greatest multi-instrumentalist among the three. Don't compare him to the others musically otherwise though because its unfair to all parties.

  • i totally agree

  • what. jimmy page was tha. best and yes john played dif. instraments. but so did jimmy and plant played guitar too.....they all are fucken great.but you can't say jones was the best.

  • yeah you can. I'll say it right now. Jones was the best.

haha, anyway, it's a matter of opinon, "phatboy."

there are are no bests. there are only favorites!

    (JPJ is my favorite)

  • lol, Yeah in your opinion:D

  • Only two real musicians, Paige and Jones...they worked very well together, it's very arguable. But Jones does have this new thing, so it does demonstrate his ability.

  • @Scaremonger456

led zeppelin where 4 TOP musicians (the best!)

and jones was shurely one of them , he can be very proud and dont need to hide behind page , page is also brilliant , bonham ...or plant (nobody has such a very special voice )

i wish they go back in the studio and record some stuff with bonhams son jason ! it could be the next BIG THING

  • man he writes some good music

  • When posed with the question of whether or not the album sounds Zeppelin-influenced, John Paul Jones replied "Well, wasn't Led Zeppelin John Paul Jones-influenced?" -- from Wikipedia

    Good stuff

  • zaujimavička panka som počul prviraz od rozpadu Zeppu asi mam vtom medzeru

  • john paul jones is the man!

  • Comment removed

  • definately sounds like a zeppelinish song. jones is great....

  • man i love this stuff!!!!

  • I can not understand how this music can be so beautiful?

    Only, perfect!

  • It's perfect because Jones wrote it! :P

    Thanks for the comments :)

  • Yeah! haha xD

Hoediddle is perfect, as the Jones!
