I would suggest that you sell your camera and flycam on ebay and buy an hfs or 550d. Then build one of the £20 Merlin copies shown on youtube, or buy a Merlin if you can afford it (And if your computer can handle the HD files).
Or, just get rid of the flycam and get a merlin or a copy.
The flycam 5000 is a poor design- that handle/ gimbal setup multiplies the effort on your wrist, and I doubt that even the 'beefiest' of arms could cope with that stress for long.
Not at all harsh! I enjoyed the comment, suggesting I should purchase a proper wrist brace and vest rather than being a cheapskate! ;-) This is more of a solution for occasional users who need to rest their muscles. Frequent users probably will have developed a big beefy arm!
forget the rope idea- footage filmed using the rope as a support will simply create more walking 'jerks' as you will lose the shock isolation provided by your shoulder, elbow and wrist joints.
You're right about how the rope would introduce jerks if you put all the weight on it - I should have said, use the rope to take the weight when you're not moving, or to take just a small part of the weight when it all gets too heavy.
Just do a search for Flycam5000, not to be confused with the mega-expensive Flycam camera-on-cable system. ALL of the various camera steadying things require practice and adjustment. This one seems OK.

@padx71
hi again, take a look at my steadicam merlin comparison- just click on my name and you'll see the video
anyway, for £18 I got all the parts pretty easily and it works way better than a merlin
can post a vid if you're interested
