saw lincoln here a few yrs back , won 2-0 got in for free cuz gate was open and you can stick your oven chips up your arse was sang constantly , brilliant day but so so sad
@tomharding yes it was Kestral demolition from yorkshire took it down , there are some pictures on there web site kestral . eu , i belive two of the stands went to featherstone rovers and the others were scrapped ,
I actually feel bad watching this, I went there a couple of times as an away fan, worst part is I support carlisle so therefore feel partly responsible!
@CoolBoysBackYard Same, it will mean quite a bit more travelling for me since i live in hull but it would be worth it to see scarborough playing back in scarborough instead of bridlington.
I was a ground steward on their last season in the now league 2 before they into the conference. Used to work on the cowshed gate. Sad to see it like. How come someone has nicked the McCain's signs from the cowshed? Someone must really love chips.
Sad to see. wasn't a bad ground! surely a few local park teams could have played there?? they could have maintained the pitch themselves!! better than playing on a park pitch full of dog shit!
I can only imagine how Boro fans feel when they see this (thinking how I'd react if it was Sincil Bank on a long delayed return to Lincoln). It's such a sad sight, but the way grass roots football is being killed by greed, the McCain Stadium will not be the last former league ground to be left this way. Rough.
its a terrible sight im a AFC Telford United fan and read a few things online and the scarbough council said there going to nock the stadium dow and rebuild the stadium so that they can bring the football back to scarborough
so sad to see this. i visited the mccain stadium on numerous occasions in the mid 90's when my cousin was playing for scarborough. a great football league stadium with great atmosphere. a very sorry sight. are there plans to re-develop the stadium?
I was a Scarborough fan for over 30 years. I was at the last ever game played at this stadium and I enjoyed so many great times there. I've never been back since that last game but just stumbled across this video. For a Boro fan it is absolutely harrowing to watch this (just try imagining this is your club and you will understand what I mean). Heartbreaking to think it will never be used again as a football stadium. What a waste.
poperpants, you're wrong, the council will sell it for housing
@BossHogster you never know mate, you never know....I have experianced this befor, when city left boothferry park, i was at the last game there, and i've only ever been to McCain once i did enjoy it, i agree it's shocking to see it like this
They should just open it ... its there to wreck ... but they should have sold it to a none league side as it says ... the land is quite big so it would be worth upto £1 million atm worth Well less
I came here in 1996 to watch my team Manchester City in a pre-season friendly (2-2). I was passing last summer, stopped to find the ground insecure, walked in and was shocked to see the state of the place. A sad indictment on football that a town of Scarborough's size should have a facility of this standard in ruins - I hope the new Scarborough club can make it back into this otherwise fine stadium and give the town its club back.
Mccain Stadium has been Purchased from the Liquidators Begbies Traynor and will be updated so Scarborough Athletic can move back to the Ground. But costs will be expensive to refurbish the ground itself but it has been purchaced by the borough council
Kestral demolition took it down last year there are some pictures on there site kestral . eu

Sad and depressing. Some great memories from when it was terracing behind the goals. Was there the day when the new stand was opened by Tom finney.

I'm in Scarborough in a few weeks time, going to go to the ground and have a look. The way Scarborough died was absolutely heartbreaking.

@copperpotboy... shut up you tool! its clubs like Scarborough that make football what it is! RIP Scarborough.
@37pete66... No truer words have ever been said. Scarborough £1.5m debt - Leeds reported £90m+ to name 1 of of hundreds.

hopefully it can be redeveloped for the other team, a couple of the stands look to be quite modern, minus a few seats tho
