And Iron Maiden is also probably the only metal to not be influenced by Black Sabbath directly or indirectly. None of the members have cited Sabbath as an influence and Steve Harris who's written like 85% of the stuff is influenced by bands like The Who and UFO. So basically Maiden invented metal in a way.

i know. murrays solo is more melodic to me, fast legato play i what i aim at with my own playing style. despite that, smith's solo has such a passion and sharpness u find it slightly "better".

he's using tapping with his right hand, hammering on and pulling off, fast picking, etc. - just a great solo from a great guitarist! :D

and your correct i love the live version with bruce. i respect paul but i think if it wasnt for bruce maiden would have just been a punkish metal band with pauls vocals. bruce gave the pipes that laid the foundation for great metal vocalist to admire and aspire to be.

Iron Maiden is the best band I have ever heard. Steve is the best bass player in the world, Bruce´s voice, one of my favorite Maiden´s tunes. This version is better than the original, I listened when I was 15 and still feel the same thrill each time I play this song, makes me remember those great years.
