I've noticed, that when you reduce the size of video playback from fullscreen to normal, the lighting and graphic detail really shines. Frankly, anything ID Software releases is graphically phenomenal. I'm sure playing this game natively at home on the PS3 is nothing short of sexy. Rajman, how are the graphics?

I'm going to put this in perspective. I have borderlands on pc, with everything turned up high on a 5850 video and 1920x1080 resolution, the game will stutter when you go by a segment with lots of terrain and detail everywhere. This game has a larger amount of detail and more terrain, walk anywhere and its still 60fps with no hiccups. There is detail everywhere, the level design is insane as if someone hand drawn the whole world.

NO, they didn't, the only thing that is the same is the TEXTURES, nothing else. You have no idea what you are saying I'm afraid. You could not be further from the truth! PC gaming is not what it used to be, but it's making a comeback. This game for the PC also comes with a SDK meaning we can make mods to make it look and play better. You need to get your eyes checked if you think that the games are going to look exactly the same from a graphical point(not artistic).

I don't know where you got 5% from, but that's malarkey, the only time where I can see there being a 5% increase is when there is just a straight up port. Seeing how it's on 3 discs for 360 (for space), and and 8 gig install for PS3 (for faster access). They both have their faults.

@CaIamlty Actually the ps3 has faster memory. On spec sheets they add in the eDRAM to the total memory speed and that memory is insignificant for actual game code, its more of a specialized frame buffer. eDRAM is extremely fast by the way. GDDR3 is ok, but the RAMBUS memory on ps3 is very fast. The next AMD radeon card will use rambus memory instead of GDDR3. RAMBUS has a reputation though of having a huge amount of errors, thats why they aren't used in pc's anymore.

I seriously don't understand how people can call this game "generic" and "ugly". This is easily one of the best looking games I have seen since Crysis 2, the art style and atmosphere is phenomenal. Were people so in awe with Borderlands and Fallout 3 that any game after with a wasteland will never come close? its f**king ridiculous how lame borderlands was, I can understand Fallout but Borderlands was awful, it was a lame attempt at an MMO style RPG that had no story and looked like a Wii game.

@luevanoanthony actually borderlands was great fun. The artstyle fit great and it was meant as a co-op game of a total of 4 players. It was more like Diablo meets FPS instead of mmo in my opinion.

@ginonijssen It wasn't anything like diablo, because Diablo involves a lot of math worked into how the skills work and how weapons work. Borderlands fails at the same sort of math, there's no deep calculation under the hood and the game shipped in an incredibly broken state.

@Shread92 The cpu is very good on ps3, but the AMD gpu on the 360 is actually more powerful than the Nvidia gpu in the ps3. Unified shaders is missing from the ps3 gpu completely.

@Shread92 no it doesn't. ps3's gpu is on par with 7600gt gpu shich is 6 years old compared to 360's xenos chip which is based on ATI Radeon X1900/X1950 series, both gpu's peformance are nearly identical with slight differentials depending on which game the system is using, most games use dx9 which is a microsoft devtool tha most devs use when making multiplat games which generally means most multiplat games look and peform slightly better on 360 when comparing the consoles.

@Vleesball you can't be serious about Crysis 2? Did you play that game? That was the most realistic console game graphics-wise that exist. The textures, even when you were staring at them at reach-out-and touch distance, they were still uber detailed. Not saying it looked "better" than Killzone 3 or Uncharted 2 or 3, but it does look most realistic.

Rage has very blurry textures up close for the most part.

And its not very massive at all. Yes it is open world, but the id has stated multiple times that it is only about a 15 hour experience. Crysis 2 was 15 hours one play through for me. Uncharted 2 was about 10-12. Not that big of a game.

Gameplay looks really fun though and I like the level design quite a bit. Enemies seem interesting to fight.

Rage is 22GB's.. obviously MASSIVE.

Most people will most likely complete Rage in about 25-30 hours.. you included considering u did 15 hours on a 5 hour game :s

@Vleesball haha. I hope it stretches out longer for me. With Crysis I played on the second to highest difficulty rather than normal. And yea I do generaelly take my time with games and die very little. With Crysis 2, in particular, I would take the time to fully scout out every area and comepletely plan my approach and escape from each combat scenario. I'd plan which gaurds I'd take out first and how I would, often with stealth at first and then tortured the last few with mind tricks :)

@Vleesball hope rage does last me longer than the projected 15, yea 20 - 30 would be a nice sweet spot. Looking at the trophies/achievements for it, it looks like good incentive to play it at least twice, and I found out that the co-op missions, Legends of the Waste, can be completed solo, although the devs said its quite hard. I look forward to the challenge though.
