  • Awesome! Can't wait to try this :)

  • YOU ARE SO GOOD! I envy you!! >.< Thank you so much for this video!! I'm a dental student and we are going to have carving I think, by next month, and I am so nervous and scared since I don't know how to carve... I'm not even good at drawing! But thanks for the video again!

  • what kind of knife are you using?

  • i'm a dentistry student and i found this very helpful .. btw what song XD ?

  • you should put a link for the template

  • very useful.....

i'm a dentistry student too, but instead of soap we use ivory wax, and instead of a guide like yours, we use specimen tooth, and we gotta carve out the mirror image of it, size-wise as well.

i'm having difficulty with the molars, the crowns are just so hard, i don't know how to create the image of the cusps and stuff.....hehehehe

but i liked the video anyhows :)

  • @RegineMarie

Hi, I am now also doing the molars so difficult :/

  • @alexmateev hehehe i'm done with carving! but i think i'm gonna practice some more....^^

  • maxillary central incisor and cuspid!! :D im a dental student and we're currently on tooth carving... man i never knew it would be that hard!! and we're using paraffin wax :)

  • Hi all, where i can get teeth tamplates (,,cut out your guide'') ? Please give a link or something else, thanx;)

  • this is great I'm the daughter of a dentist and I made this for him to use as soap in his bathroom. He loved it!!! Very easy to do

  • Glad you enjoyed the video; got a laugh from your post!

  • carving with a template is weak. Carving from scratch is leet.

  • were can i get a guide at?

  • that is a very nice video

    coooool

  • omg!!! this is brilliant,,am a freshman in dental skol,, n dis way made carving much more easier

  • Im a dental student and we carved teeth in class today and used this as a demo it was a lot of fun but tricky to make sure you get all the anatomy!!

  • What school do you go to?

  • em a dental student n dis video helpd me so mch,wud u evn tell me tht how to carve a 1st maxillary premolar..

  • im in faculty of dentistry

    woooow that amazin =D

  • but thnx for ur work

  • man we need carving by fire and carving a human tooth not a monster

  • LOL....my friend is in dental school and was telling me about carving teeth out of wax (he goes to the University of Iowa). I'm in optometry school, myself...no teeth for me, but looks like you're good at what you do. I did make myself proud by guessing what CEJ meant correctly on the first attempt! WOOT!

  • Nice. Haven't done a soap tooth in a while. Been doing lots of real teeth for some time now. I can't believe how popular this video has become! Good luck in optometry school!

  • Why would one do this? I was looking for a video how to carve teeth, you know like carving ivory, I have some human teeth I would like to make jewelry out of.

  • I didn't like the way he use the spatula (or whatever it is). In fact, outlining the tooth is a good way to carve, but i think he make it slow an unusefull.

  • hey this was cool can you tell me where to find those tooth templates?

  • Do a google search for "tooth carving manual" and you should find the templates. I had to enlarge mine in the computer so they were large enough to be used with soap. Good luck!

  • I just finished my dental lab school specialized on orthodontics (wire bender) and We had to carve the same tooth on wax blocks. except we did not trace it.

  • thnx...

    this vid. helps alooot !!

  • ugh! i hate carving!! :( why do dent students have to carve teeth using carving wax or soap?? for dexterity??... urgghhkkk!! its so difficult to carve esp.mirror image.

  • This video was actually made for some pre-dental students. At my school we do not do carvings any more. :-)

  • well what school did you go cause in my school we had to carve wax blocks on anteriors bicuspids molars. it was fun haha

  • Pacific. Pacific does not have students carve teeth from wax anymore. I made this video to instruct pre-dental students at UCD - they wanted to try a manual dexterity exercise. :-)

  • yeah, it will increase a students dexterity. that's the reason why we have to carve. :)

  • What a waste of time. All the things to learn and study, and these low end schools wasting valuable time with soap. Sad.

  • I don't think any of the schools carve teeth from soap. Some schools carve teeth from wax, but it is not as common as it was ten years ago. As said above, Pacific does not carve teeth from wax anymore, and has never carved teeth from soap.

  • What is the second song?

  • Good song! "Yeah Yeah" by Bodyrox. I got it from an UltraDance '08 CD - Disc 2.

  • Thank you :)

  • Well thanks i needed this :D

  • You're welcome!

  • i think it would be easier to carve big tooths than small one's. we can't trace the image on the wax because it has to be accurate and the fissures of the tooth has to be exact. every details of it. so you have to be very patient and imaginative.nice vid. :) thanks for the tips anyway. :)

  • i am a dent student.we use wax not soap but i think it would be better if our professor would let us use soap instead of wax. i hope we can carve big tooths.we use bolly gauge first to measure the size/dimensions of the tooth. the size is mostly 2mm+.--that small.

  • Thanks for the comments... I have carved a few teeth from wax, too. Life size wax carving is very difficult! Our school doesn't require wax carving any more, though. (My class was the last class to do the exercise). I made this video to show pre-dental students a visual before they tried it themselves at a "tooth carving" simulation.

  • I wish I could do THAT in under 8 minutes. Amazing hands!

  • Well at first i was like that is never gonna look like a tooth but in the end they did look a bit like giant teeth.

Don't soap loving dentists just have all the fun ey?
